Ffffffffine.
I think your problem is a newbie thing. Maybe after a certain amount of posts you're allowed to upload. Maybe Mike or Joe can confirm?

@CContreras - I would let the "Joker" read

That way it's in the indices. "Playing Card Indices" look it up.
Basically, most ppl read the card top to bottom not left to right.

Re: [CContreras] Tallans Playing Cards
Well, I'm pretty sure that most people (in the western part of the world) reads text from left to right before reading top to bottom. But it's still a good suggestion because it'll make the card more readable when squeezed together with other cards.sprouts1115 wrote:@CContreras - I would let the "Joker" read

What I wanted to do was that when you fan the deck you don't see the word "joker" and it looks like an other card.sprouts1115 wrote:@CContreras - I would let the "Joker" read

Re: [CContreras] Tallans Playing Cards
I honestly cant say i like the deck, while the back design has potential, your court cards kills the entire deck. The thick lines in the rest of the deck just doesnt go with the thin sketchy style of the courts.
Your courts remind me of the recent choice deck, and thats not a complement.

Re: [CContreras] Tallans Playing Cards
That back looks so familiar........ The nice looks nice. The courts don't have to be colored but they can be outlined/highlighted more so they can be more visible. The red pips look dark so they can be more distinguished.

Re: [CContreras] Tallans Playing Cards
Don't worry about it; they usually fan the backs not the fronts. I like your back of card. It reminds me an Ace of Swords in the Tarot Cards. I like the square in top left corner amongst all the little circles.CContreras wrote:What I wanted to do was that when you fan the deck you don't see the word "joker" and it looks like an other card.sprouts1115 wrote:@CContreras - I would let the "Joker" read

Your custom pips are good. They are 50% black or red, or is that dark red? And you're using negative white space. Everyone likes custom pips. I do see your putting a phantom border in the courts. That's fine; it's traditional. I might suggest putting some kind of element in the top right corner.
I do like your JoD. The axe looks cool. All the Jacks should have some kind of weapon. This guy did his research. http://whiteknucklecards.com
You have the start of a good functional deck. Your weakness is art your court cards. I might suggest. You say you're 15? Go out and find yourself a 18 year old art student that just graduated from high school and say something like this "I need some weapons with my Jacks"
I like the cloth transition between swords.

Wooooow, that's just a prototype with the scanned sketches obviously the court cards ain't going to look like that they are going to be vectorizedvolantangel wrote:I honestly cant say i like the deck, while the back design has potential, your court cards kills the entire deck. Lol it's a prototype with a scanned image that's not the final product it's obvious that the court cards aren't going to look like that you can't even see the lines clearvolantangel wrote:I honestly cant say i like the deck, while the back design has potential, your court cards kills the entire deck. Yes the courts are going to be vectorized so the look clean and the red is not that dark is just the photo effect. Thank you for your opinion and btw the back looks familiar to what deck?Bikefanatic wrote:That back looks so familiar........ The nice looks nice. I know you're young but you may want to be less 'ummmmm' and 'lol' and 'it's obvious'. It comes off as really immature and dismissive of feedback.

Re: [CContreras] Tallans Playing Cards
Allow me to first say that it is generally quadtruple-postings are generally frowned upon, it is wiser to be clear on what you want to say before typing the message.
With two weeks (started last week) before your supposed KS launch, and your courts are not vectorized (which is alot of work, definitely more than two weeks for an amatuer, unless thats all you are doing). Its not just about the sketchy lines and what not, its the general artwork of the courts, if thats your basis, you are gonna need a fair bit more work to get these up to scratch to have any chance. If you do not want my honest opinion (i dont mince my words), just ignore everything i say then.
Im of the opinion of moving the entire thread to the drafting board, since this aint quite completed.

Yes I know that's inmature but I did it just because they were really unnecessary comments because that's just a PROTOTYPE( not a final product ) I may have 15 years but I work more than most of kids my age and if I want to do something I make my research, Ive been design for three years all kinds of things and because I like cardistry I decided to make my own deck, you have no idea how many research I have done about playing cards in the last two years.
Thank you for actually commenting and taken your time to see my post.

Re: [CContreras] Tallans Playing Cards
Just as a heads up: one of the most common beginner errors in playing card KS projects is that the creators haven't done enough work prior to the campaign, often coupled with an inaccurate prediction of the time frame involved. I don't know if the latter applies to you, but the former certainly does if you only have a prototype 2 weeks before launch. Is there a reason you need to launch that quickly? Taking your time is ALWAYS better than rushing things in these situations, we've seen it time and time again.
