And they completely copied the pips from the CORE deck...
The shirt is from the stealth deck and the other pips are from the Core deck:

$15/deck??? Are you friggin kidding me??? First this is a bland ripoff of the Core deck (which has already been stated...), second, I could load up Photoshop and in a few hours reproduce that deck. There's nothing special about it, other than some of the face card artwork (though I wouldn't doubt that was ripped off somewhere else as well). Pedale design was worthy of my money when they asked a premium. This, is a joke (looks at calendar... nope it's not April 1st)...

Someone should pledge it, post a comment about it being a ripoff and then unpledge. :)

Edit: I love the "play poker in Stealth mode"... isn't the whole purpose of Stealth not to be seen? ha ha ha

This deck is very appropriately named: These are invisible to me and completely off my radar....

Stealth Playing cards

Unread post by Atemus »

So this a new deck on kickstarter, and I'm interested in the design. However the stock is something I'm a little concerned about. It's being printed on 15pt silk coated stock. I looked it up and apparently it's what is used on nice business cards. Apparently 15pt stock is 350 gsm.

Could anyone around tell me how good/bad this particular stock is? Here is the link:

Edit: Welp. I guess that answers the question. I don't really know the core deck, but I thought it looked nice. Oh well.

To be fair, the diamond pip on the shirt is fairly standard and not a copy. I did send him a message about it and he denies stealing them and acted like he never ever heard of the Core deck, whatever.

I do not know what you all are talking about. This Kickstarter campaign is awesome.
He is offering a mother F'in throw pillow as one of the accessories.

Who doesn't want a throw pillow with the Core pips on it.
If only he offered a comforter I could finish my ripped off card related bedroom set

Not gonna lie the pillow was pretty sweet. I wish they were going to be nice cards, the box seems really cool. And I love boxes.

Seems legit. I mean it's not like the heart, spade, and club pips are 100% the same as the Core deck....

The way it's being printed is intriguing but the design similarity does make me leery of giving this guy any money.

He Updated to Say these would be printed by GR Print, Who's website doesn't even mention playing cards. It does However mention Business Cards, and I kinda cringe to imagine shuffling a deck of those. Points for keeping it in the US though.

Eh, I like people trying manufacturers besides USPCC. There's never going to be real competition without people trying different printers, and without competition you get a narrower range of product. Still, this doesn't sound very promising.

From the FAQ at the bottom, it sounds to me like the cards themselves are going to have red and chrome foil on them. Bizarre.

Can you even use eBay to sell a product that doesn't exist? That seems like it's skirting along the edges of their standard terms of service. Oh well, I guess no one here is going to buy any....

This is more of a tricky situation. You can do pre-sells on eBay, but I think delivery can be no more than 30 days out. I think this is real risky because the deck is not even produced yet and well all know about unforeseen delays in getting a deck produced. He is also vague about delivery of the deck and only says "The deck will ship in February". I think he is probably trying to drum up awareness about his deck to a broader market.

Whenever we do a pre-sell, we either have the decks in hand and are just waiting for an official release date or they are currently in transit to us and we expect to have them very shortly.

Thanks!

Which is what everyone should do, really.

I didn't back this deck because I have so many doubts about it being viable and now I have even more concerns.

I think a lot of Kickstarter projects are going to be in trouble for not taking into account International Shipping increases.
