I'd imagine that there would also be a decline in international pledges, given that it's catering not just to something based in the US but a specific branch of the Armed Forces. I'd manage a guess that the interest just isn't there abroad as compared to something with more universal appeal such as Sherlock Holmes or money.

Good point. I didn't think about that.

@Jackson, I haven't seen any mention of these decks on soldiersystems.net.
''Soldier Systems Daily is the premier daily web publication covering the tactical industry.'

If you reach out to a few of the key blogs you'll quickly get coverage to both the 'tactical fanboy' and to the sorts of military folks who are gear whores (I say that affectionately).

I've tried to spread the word on FB, as we have a page for the military community here in Stuttgart. USO, VFW, and American Legion are three other groups that could be contacted...

Truly odd. A couple of people have asked me why the project was going backwards, but I am as baffled as anyone else. Good decks, maybe too specific? I don't know.

This might have been mentioned on this thread, but I noticed he listed the project under Graphic Design, rather than Playing Cards on Kickstarter. I would wonder if that might have an affect on how many card enthusiasts see the deck - I'm sure it at least would for the collectors that don't surf the web often and just glance at KS every now and then.

I think chach is right on the money. That was mentioned even before the project launched. It's a very specific audience and doesn't have as much appeal abroad as it does in the homeland.

I can understand the lack of broad appeal, but the fact that it lost so many backers and overall has been largely flat is quite strange. I didn't see anything in the updates or comments that would indicate people don't like any changes in direction, at least not in large numbers.

Perhaps it is a case of it really just reached most of those that it will and the loss of a few is magnified by not having large numbers coming in new at this point.

Maybe. Looks like a typical Kickstater though. At the end you should expect a rise. But by how much? I wonder what Jackson is thinking right now?

IMO, this is the result of a summer with so many decks. Everyone is just tapped out financially. Plus Christmas isn't far away and many are realizing they need to start saving for that. It's just a point where the bubble is massive and almost to a point of either imploding or exploding.

^This. I am one of the backers who got out. I was in at the 5 for $50, which is a great price, but in the end, I decided the courts on the limiteds just looked too much like a lot of Jackson's courts lately (Civil War, Independence). Don't get me wrong, they're still incredible, but I'm just not as wowed by it. If the campaign was for only two decks I'd still be in, and I'll probably jump back in and get one or two of the regular decks (really like those courts). But with so many other decks right now, I had to cut back on some and this one actually didn't make the cut (kept my Seasons, Sawdust and Draconian).

I stayed in but not nearly the amount on Jackson's previous decks. I mentioned elsewhere that there might be the possibility of fatigue with his designs, they are getting very repetitive. I have the utmost respect for Jackson's abilities as an illustrator, but I've got a buttload of it occupying my storage closet, hence the lower pledge.

I'm still in at $50 but I removed the price of the 3 uncuts. I may/may not add one or all of them in pledgemaner/backerkit.

That was what i read at first, but upon rereading it, i dont think they are parting, just that they have both agreed to move the deck in a different direction.

Don't think they're parting ways, after all Nomades owns the rights to the different military emblems and the deck can't be done without them. The way I understood the update is that there were some creative differences and they wanted to make the decks more uniform across all the different Armed Forces and that it's quite a major overhaul. So best to chuck this draft in the bin and start anew.

I'm fearful there will be changes coming I don't care for based on prior conversations, but I guess we'll all just have to wait and see. I had limited interest in this deck/series (way too many options for one and only cared for one of them). Just as well, I've been on a streak lately and trying to take it down a notch.

I think it was mainly b/c the project was stale, to say the least. He's not accustomed to funding under $100,000 but I do believe he has some changes he's going to make. No gilded deck at all.

Its been a really project crazy summer and now with school in session, funding is bound to decline.

I'm bummed this cancelled. I had a memorial display for my father planned, He was an Army vet and a big supporter of the military. That being said, my wallet isn't complaining. As has been said already, it's been a busy summer and x=mas is coming. If I were Jackson I would hold off until after the holidays to relaunch.

If your going to focus on anything, focus on this. The "Project" was an undertaking to cover ALL branches of the Military in one continuing series. If it's not right from the begining, it's just going to snowball in the wrong direction. I think he made the right choice based on what the overall project is supposed to be.

Oh don't get me wrong, the current design is by far his weakest series in my view. It's definitely a good thing that he is changing direction. But it also begs the question that if the project was doing 200k would he still cancel? Obviously it's doing subpar and hence the reworking, some might say it greed, while others call it ambition, wellll not much difference between the two when it's about money.

Yea the gilding is a disappointment. Lets see if this link works. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/17 ... 4#comments
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YRKhTvUUYMI

But I think canceling is a good move. Think about it. Jackson could be the poster child for the 1000 deck minimum for the USPCC. Jackson loves to print LE decks sometime 4 different decks at a time. I would be tickling Tiffany and squeezing Ashley to be the first guy to roll out an official 1000 deck minimum from the USPCC.

@Jackson - What is the deck minimum for gilded decks?
