Id like to see an homage to Kubrick, he had some beautiful masks made up for Eyes Wide Shut.

Hmm, too creepy I think. In fact he hasn't been stabbed yet. He's more anxious, surprised and scared. When his face will be revealed it will be more obvious.
Btw, regarding your comment about the masks: What do you mean "larger and pushed backwards"? Behind the swirls?
I was thinking perhaps it can be 25% larger, about the size of the swirls, because that should be the main subject of the back, but then again it would eat into the swirls, and might not look that good. But as always, lotrek you know best

@ Chach:

Very good suggestion, I can definitely use some of these. And the mask at the end, can easily become a joker. You just won yourself a free deck! ;)

@Volantangel: 25% is too much I think. There is room for the masks to be a bit larger but I'm not sure how much.

Prefer the version with the mask, much more mysterious of an assassin that way.

They will be both. The masked in the Limited edition while the unmasked in the Original edition. My initial plan was to have all courts masked in the L.E. and all courts unmasked in the O.E. However I think that this way the O.E. will be lacking mystery, while the L.E. will have too many masks. So I'leaning towards having 8 masked - 4 unmasked in the Limited edition and 4 masked - 8 unmasked in the original edition. This way all courts will appear both masked and unmasked, while both decks will have some variation.

Glad you like the stuff so far! :-)

LIke a KS campaign? ;) j/k..... kinda.

It seems to me that there are two problems with the funding;
  • The fact that CL is basically unknown to a lot of people who may have pledged of KS, and CL launch issues/payment limitations preventing some who do know about it from pledging.
  • The unavailability of the unlimited decks. I realise that the limited deck needs to be paid for just as the unlimited will in time, but the fact that I cannot pledge for both now, limits how much I'm going to pledge for a single deck (considering the plethora of great decks funding at the moment, I'm unlikely to pledge for a brick of a single design).
As Stan and many others have said, the art that you're adding is absolutely top notch - and I feel that many of the details you've discussed show that we can trust that it'll all be completed excellently (even without looking at your previous record) - but it's all for naught if you don't get the money.

Thanks for the comments Stan and Gareth,

The deck(s) are taking shape in my mind in real time and I have to consider many factors when creating a new work. I'm glad that you can see a way of thinking behind the changes. Playing card design isn't just about doing nice courts, that's the easy part actually. It's about making all elements working together and having a meaning. ;)

As for funding, I agree that adding the Original version would help but it's a bit risky to do it being still below 50%. I'm working on finding my way out of the narrow streets of Venexiana funding! :ugeek:

I would like to see what the number cards and aces look like if they had the same solid [black] background that the court cards have.

I think the cards look better with the black bg, good call stan! Also lotrek would you consider reducing the font size just a little bit, the ace is almost touching the edge of the inner border. Also somehow the edges of the pups dont look clean, is that a look you want to achieve?

The 2 of Spades on the left with the black background looks much better and reads nicer than the 2 of Spades on the right.

I agree about the background. It will be black.

The font size, pips etc are not finished, they're just there to give an idea. Especially the "A" in the AoS was just "thrown" there. I usually fix those details towards the end. ;)
I always believed that you have a sharp eye!

And, thanks Stan! Sorry... $tan
