Yeah, it's brutal. But salaries are also higher, and everything in any given store is just simply of a higher quality than elsewhere in the world (not bragging, but that's my impression).Maddest Hammer wrote:No kidding, that place was EXPENSIVE!!! Are we having a "who's is biggest" contest?Anyway, had a great time with Lorenzo at dinner, truly a very kind man. Along with my prototype #8 (still sealed) he gave me a VERY special deck, that I may or may not reveal. He also signed a couple Requiem decks, and we even gave a signed deck to our waitress.
A long trip, but the evening with Lorenzo made it all worthwhile!
Are the "Prototype Decks" printed on the same stock as the final versions?badpete69 wrote:prototype deck 9/12 just came in. Thanks Lorenzo
I asked and Lorenzo replied that they were printed by MPC.Eoghann wrote:Nope. They're not USPCC. They feel like Liberty playing cards or the old MPC finish before they adjusted it.
Got my 7/12 yesterday.
Aye, indeed - just like CL's "Proto-Pak" 12 deck sets for $220 delivered in 10-14 days, it's the latest MPC paper stock, quite a step up from where they were just 6 months ago, now. I'm sure I'll start another flame war, but they handle pretty much the same as a new deck of bikes - more-or-less 'flying out of your hand', and they are seriously almost comparable 1-to-1. That's going to haunt me for saying it, but in fact that's precisely what they are: a new 310gsm linen finish purposefully made and intended to me that: measured against the USPCC 'standard'. That being the reference deck right now, and the Bicycle paper stock was just upgraded to a newer stock that's more flexible and more durable. They have to, it's really not optional any more, they have to step it up a notch, just like everybody else. MPC picked up the paper stock, Expert picked up the paper stock, and so Bicycle did the same - better for all, bottom line.bamabenz wrote:I asked and Lorenzo replied that they were printed by MPC.Eoghann wrote:Nope. Nope the prototypes most certainly aren't. They are from a different printer.Norbie wrote:Are the "Prototype Decks" printed on the same stock as the final versions?badpete69 wrote:prototype deck 9/12 just came in. Thanks Lorenzo
Oooooo ...... Just relished I'm an "Elite Member"! So like the "Elites" in the real world, do I have power over other people. My garden needs a clean-up.
