Seriously? I think they're great, really - almost giving the same effect of the old "No Revoke" decks made back in the 20's to try to eliminate the problem with people playing the wrong suit in bridge.

Frankly, I just love these, but then again I've never found a single deck that Randy designed that I didn't just love. I'm one of the people that fell in love with the Imperial decks, and those were quite unusual, I'll grant you that. They were also a ground-breaking deck that set a new standard on where you could take custom courts.

You mean a new standard where custom cards can use eggs as their main theme??? To be honest, I am not a fan of the Imperial deck. Eggs was just too different for my taste. I wish a good designer would come up with a cat deck :\ there hasn't been a good, flourishable/presentable cat deck ever (besides the 4/14 deck).

Colors are great. They're not jarring and they don't distract you from the awesome back.

Have to admit, those eggs didn't interest me either despite the artwork being incredible.

Oh, that was kind of the point: a lot of people didn't like it, but I thought it was just different enough and Randy really put a LOT of work into them. I'm a fan, and as I noted, I'm a fan of everything Randy does.

Thanks Mike, we are thrilled (myself and my "better" half) with Randys work.

Jus to be open and honest- we ARE looking at ways of producing a longer term, higher quantity print run second edition with a few less bells and whistles (no numbered seals, less or no foil, etc) which we hope to be able to offer at a lower price. That being said, we need to see how the sales for this one pan out first but that's the hope.

I think these will definitely fund sufficiently for you to produce a second run. If/when you do multiple runs, drop the seal, but leave the foil, its one of the most distinctive parts of the deck and a primary selling point. I'm hoping the fact that with all the initial set up costs are done, plus the price break you get with a bigger print run will allow you to sell future unlimited print runs at a sufficiently discounted price. :)

Sinjin, that's pretty constructive feedback - thanks. I think you are rig to a point, but each tuck currently has two colour foils on the outside along with an inner foil. So if we are going to keep the cost down for future editions simply dropping the seal and upping the production numbers might not be enough, but we will see.

The response had definitely been positive so far, but it means nothing until the sales show us what is possible in the future with later editions. After all, being in highway UK we are in a much smaller market generally.

But with possible future releases the actual cards will be the same, just a less fancy tuck?

Paul you should have made uncut tucks for these, they would look absolutely amazing framed.

Probably not identical, but tweaked here and there (perhaps). I can't say for certain right now.

I think you're overthinking it. Coz technically it's the same thing. And the clue doesn't specify color. Which I assume is one of the reasons they're in black and white.

Disagree, I love the different colours.
Same here, the shades are just right for 4-color suits IMO.
I have to agree with most, just enough difference to make them plainly distinguishable after a very few hands. That's the point on these - playing cards, right? (and yes, I know - like with me, 90% of them won't ever be opened)

But there is no colour involved anyway. The confusion I have and I guess Kai is in the same boat is that it's the same image in 3 different pages so I wonder if it matters which page we pick?

Indeed, it was always our intention to make them practical and playable - hopefully we've satisfied both those who will use and enjoy them and the collectors.

http://jpplayingcards.co.uk/luxx-playing-cards" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The link is live and has been for a while, there is a page for the matching split bricks (25 available) a page for the matching twin sets (100) and then a regular page for when they sell out. There's also the dealer coin and a leather Porper clip produced by REHandCrafted with the LUXX logo too.

They will be available from 4pm UK time, and the first people to be notified will be the people who added their emails to the product page - followed by newsletter and Twitter/Facebook. There are emails added to the product page that have been there for nearly 2 months so they deserve to be notified first. Of course, if you're loitering you will know the minute they have gone live.

I don't envisage any problems with the site because of peaks in traffic and we have tested a few things over the last couple of weeks to prevent errors, so all being well everything should be fine.

Can't wait to finally start getting them out to people mid-September!
