Re: New deck from Seasons Playing cards
This is actually one of the things I was looking for feedback on. The addition of color. The picture is only a mock-up. Currently I had kept the back designs black and white and changed the court cards to display color instead. I will be creating an official survey soon to see which designs would be most popular.JokerzGamez wrote:Where's the blue? I was expecting blue :/

Re: New deck from Seasons Playing cards
My initial thought was: "I wouldn't mind some color, otherwise it will be very similar to the first set." But it's hard to say without seeing a side-by-side comparison, because I wouldn't want it to contrast too much with the first set either.

I agree. Though I'm thinking maybe a dark blue for the back might look niceMagikFingerz wrote:My initial thought was: "I wouldn't mind some color, otherwise it will be very similar to the first set." Re: New deck from Seasons Playing cards
that does sound good. although i wasnt a huge fan of the mix of gold and red on the court cards from version 1. it will be interesting to see this deck unfold. the artwork was fantastic in v1 and v2. no doubt it will continue.Mirror wrote:I think gold on white for the Summer Deck might look good

Re: New deck from Seasons Playing cards
Gold V1 has the better looking court cards and Platinum V2 has the better looking tucks. Hard to choose.

So this isn't the most glamorous link in the world but it will be the most efficient way to see people's thoughts on the upcoming set. I'm hoping by collecting this data it will better help me cater the final launch to what people are anticipating.
It takes about 2 minutes to complete.

Re: New deck from Seasons Playing cards
I think Yellow for Summer and Blue for Winter makes the most sense, plus that's a strong contrast in color between the two seasons, more so than green and blue.

Haha sorry about that. It meant to say art prints. I fixed it.MagikFingerz wrote:You asked about a collector's box twice
I'm surprised at the even amount of people that want colorless and those that want color. I honestly thought color was a minority. I just added an extra question to the link addressing this. You can modify your survey answers until I close it.
Since there seems to be a larger demand, those that are requesting color, do you mind if your colored decks don't quite match the first set? Will you be treating them as just another set?

Re: New deck from Seasons Playing cards
I filled out the survey and then changed my mind on what I preferred about 2 or three times after that. Which is what drove me to post this. I am happy and greatful that you have asked the community their opinion but always remember one thing, this is YOUR project. YOU did an amazing job of the first decks and if you feel the final chapter should look a certain way, then YOU do it that way. Heck make all the options if you can't decide. One thing is for sure, I will buy whatever you put out, especially a box set.

Re: New deck from Seasons Playing cards
I went to vote 3 times but could never answer. The conclusion I came to is that I'm not a deck designer. Obviously So I'm perfectly happy buying these without any of my influence. As far as I'm concerned, the 1st sets were next to perfect by todays standards and if it ain't broke...
I completely trust the deaigner and can't WAIT for these!

I closed out the survey. Thanks again guys. I got a lot of valuable feedback from it and applied it to the deck. The color schemes finally figured themselves out in a way that I think everyone will agree works and enjoys.

Re: New deck from Seasons Playing cards
After looking over the feedback that everyone participated in I took some time to modify and upgrade the decks.
Verana (Summer) will have a metallic gold accent on a white deck while Inverno (Winter) will have a metallic silver/blue accent on a black deck.
*Sorry about the ad. But you should still nominate Seasons lol. http://playingcardawards.com/nominations/
Glad at how this image turned out.
I really do hope you enjoy the upgrade. I'm normally have a very black and white aesthetic so color is a change that I was very cautious with. I'm hoping that this will be something that everyone will get excited for.

That's a very nice choice of color, I'm looking forward to these. I normally don't bother with getting complete sets (unless all decks happen to really catch my eye), but I'm guessing these will be just as gorgeous as the previous two so I'll be grabbing them.
Yes, I might be the guy you remember from that thing at that place way back when.

Just out of curiosity Alex, what language are you using to name the decks? It would seem Spanish or Latin rooted but not quite. In Spanish it would be "Verano" and "Invierno".

Re: New deck from Seasons Playing cards
The original 2 decks were in an old romance language of Asturian. I was going to keep with those but then found out that Winter and Summer are "Branu" and "Iviemu" which I didn't find as pleasing off the tongue. I made up the 2 names Verana and Inverno off of Spanish as easier names to pronounce but changed the spelling slightly for more consistency with the set and most of all having an easier search term. "Seasons" is a REALLY hard term to optimize on Google so in order for people to find these cards I based it off of more unique search terms. I almost named winter Inverna, ending with an "a" but I liked winter to be more desolate and isolated from the rest of the seasons.Eoghann wrote:Just out of curiosity Alex, what language are you using to name the decks?
