Re: Playing Card Designer Sketch Pad (KS)
This is a great idea, but I've got to say all my sketching is done on the tablet straight in illustrator, so I don't think this ones for me

I don't really see the point. Just contact the company you want to print your decks and ask them for templates. They're free.

Not for me.
A good idea none the less for those who maybe can`t afford a good enough program to use those free templates with.
or even for those who like to do things the "Old-fashioned" way.

Re: Playing Card Designer Sketch Pad (KS)
id rather see a tablet program that "auto draws" the "other corner" for you as you draw and then informs you if things don't balance out. Who draws on paper? Wait, is this that stuff that books are made out of?

I do sometimes. But I just print out the USPCC template on DIN A4 paper.Magic_Orthodoxy wrote:id rather see a tablet program that "auto draws" the "other corner" for you as you draw and then informs you if things don't balance out. Enough folks to easily fund the campaign it appears.Magic_Orthodoxy wrote:Who draws on paper?
Re: Playing Card Designer Sketch Pad (KS)
This seems like a very unnecessary campaign - you can download and print templates for free plus surely the pad would make more sense if it had the required number of pages for a full deck and the joker etc, so a minimum 54 sheets?

Re: Playing Card Designer Sketch Pad (KS)
Thanks for your insight. My wife is looking into adding some pages to make it a full 54. However, Personally I don't see a point drawing out the numbered pip cards.Gemini wrote:This seems like a very unnecessary campaign - you can download and print templates for free plus surely the pad would make more sense if it had the required number of pages for a full deck and the joker etc, so a minimum 54 sheets?
As far as downloading and printing out... sure you can do that... but if you had a sketch pad you would have to go to that trouble. That's the whole point of this concept. I personally love the idea. Best concept of the year. But of course I am biased.

At least there is no potatoe salad involved. <jk>
Actually all of my artwork is computer based, but I still stretch everything out in paper first - usually in an engineering lab notebook who pages look much like the pad in this project except larger sheets & bound better.

Re: Playing Card Designer Sketch Pad (KS)
Not yet... stretch goal.
Truth is... we both felt like this sketch pad would help us both out artistically. We were planning on having it printed one way or another because this would help us. We thought we would share it with the world because we honestly do think it's a useful tool. Some of my work I do solely in the computer but if I'm roughing out an idea I do it on paper.

I love the idea. I am not much of an artist and lack the digital skills for Illustrator and such, but this would allow me sketch out my ideas well enough to get my point across to someone else. I'll be pledging soon.

I would think that every Kickstarter project qualifies as an unnecessary campaign, when you really think about it. That hasn't stopped me, or many others, from backing a lot of projects!
I love this idea! It's fun!! I backed it right away yesterday.
My family and I drive up to my parents' house in Michigan at least every two months. They are in the country, in an internet deadzone. I always bring a sketchpad when we go up because I know I'll have a lot of unplugged brainstorming time after everyone's gone to sleep. I think I've planned out the concepts of most of my Deck designs while we were up there! This Sketch Pad will make that process even more productive. I'm surprised at how cheap they are!
thanks, Randy
Re: Playing Card Designer Sketch Pad (KS)
This project is already funded, congratulations as there is clearly a demand!
@randy I guess using a computer all day I forget the value of a pen and paper in the creative process, as for kickstarter projects and their necessity, I don't disagree, potato salad all the way!

Is this the non-photo blue that won't photocopy or reproduce?

Re: Playing Card Designer Sketch Pad (KS)
I was really happy to see it will be 54 pages instead of 50. 50 really clashed with my OCD! I bumped to 10 pads on this news.

Re: Playing Card Designer Sketch Pad (KS)
It will be. My wife had it lighter but it didn't show as well on the computer screen. We didn't want people to think they were buying a blank sketch pad.mmiikk wrote:i feel the blue need to be a lot lighter to make this practical. great idea though. and folio is nice touch.

if you look at the comments on the KS page, I brought this up to her. She was very quick to respond and said it could and should be lightened before sent to the printermmiikk wrote:i feel the blue need to be a lot lighter to make this practical. great idea though. and folio is nice touch.

Thanks necro! I know some will disagree with me but you can never have too many skulls. I like yours too by the way. Something about it...nECr0MaNCeD wrote: @Dazzleguts.. I love the new avatar!
Yeah I was getting tired of the cartoon one.MagikFingerz wrote:That's not new, that's old school dazzle
I did add the cigarette this time round.
Back on topic - the blue does have to be lighter for non-photo effect, but perhaps it was better darker just for viewing in the KS?
