I definitely want the Gold Edition! With the name of the deck, I see nothing wrong with the gold/shiny embossing.

I'm looking forward to this one as well! Jody has done his homework, and as always, everybody here has guided him in the right direction on almost every aspect of his project.

Count me in for two as well! I agree with what someone said a page back- I like the 1st Bicycle-branded tuck a little better than the current one but not enough to not pledge!

These 2 decks are enough. They'll have another deck out called Iron Horses, a black tuck can be used for that. It's 1st page of this thread.

So, I wanted to say thank you for the feedback so far. I am posting 3 images of the Ace of Diamonds with three choices for what name I should use.

A. Chinese
B. Celestials
C. Chinese Labor

Volant Angel will be making a poll for me a little later and it would be great if you would give me your choice as to the name I should use for this card.

Lastly, notice the change to the hat. The hat is bigger and forms into a cone at the top.

I have no idea why "celestial" is in there. To me (and I suspect a lot of others too) that has an astronomical meaning, which was supported by my recent googling of the term.

As for the other two, all I ask is that it "fits" with the text on the other aces. Consistency, consistency, consistency ;)

Unfortunately it should be C, brutal reality. Jody, the project looks great! I left a pair of new comments since we looked this morning.

Well if you want brutal reality, it really should be "CHINK" ;) For me, it's really not that offensive anymore, unless you use it offensively.

(C) for me. Thanks to monte's link, Celestials makes sense, and there would be a story to tell... but consistency consistency, if one Ace has a story to tell, the other must have stories too. First time I'm posting in this thread, and I'm on the fence about these. Design looks well thought out, and the designer's listening to the buyers. That really says a lot about a project.

Also, I'm Chinese. I find it gratifying to have this deck represent the Chinese laborers.

How about D.

None of them, does the ace/Asian really need a title? If so then the other three aces will need a title as well plus there's no name on the court cards. Why not keep the train as the ace like on the 2nd page of this thread. Either way, it doesn't matter which name is used.

I admire you for being modern about the term, although i believe it would still be disrespectful to use due to the nature of the term.

Point taken. I suppose it'd be akin to calling someone a Nazi out of jest. Additionally, some people will take it offensively and Jody Eklund would be losing potential buyers. Being politically correct is hard :(

Unless you have more than one person on the card, the singular form for B is needed, therefore it would be "Celestial," without an "s" at the end. As for C: the term is "Chinese Laborer." A Chinese laborer trades labor for money. The text is already looking pretty squished, though, even without the necessary "er" at the end.

I think the plural form is to signify this group of people, rather than this one specific person. But i agree on the labourer/s.
