What I really hope so too. Otherwise, 455 backers aren't going to be very pleased... (not to mention I went for the HOPE sticker too D:)

Brain has already contacted me and it seems to be fluke that someone must have opened my box and taken the cards. I can't see where the box would have been opened so hopefully he isn't just blowing smoke. I'm disappointed that my box was light but I have faith that it will be fixed.

If the package had no sign of "forced entry" I'd say it's probably a packaging fault, which of course can happen. Is he doing this himself or using a fulfillment center?

OK, I just launched my 2nd project - The Different Deck.


As a valued backer of my first project I want to let you in on a secret. This deck has been in the works for quite a while. I was actually hoping to launch it on Kickstarter a year ago this month. The truth is I did the Mazing Deck to give me something to do while my artist was working on this deck.

I absolutely love this deck - each card is a unique piece of art filled with symbolism and fun and mystery.

In some respects the project is very simple but in other respects there is a lot going on - in fact there is even a secret backer level.

When you check out the project you will see pretty typical rewards and backer levels and then there is a $37 level for a H.O.P.E. sticker. This might seem strange, and that’s the idea - because it is a secret backer level.

I wanted to let you, my Mazing backers, in on the secret. It is limited to 620 spots (the number of backers my first project had) and if you back it, you will not only get the really cool H.O.P.E. decal but you will also get 2 of every deck produced by this project.

So for $37 you get 4 decks and a sticker - and if we hit the stretch goal and unlock the black deck, you will get two of that deck as well. Not too shabby if you ask me.

Mostly I am doing this for fun and just to do something... well, Different. But it is only fun if we keep it a secret so while it is ok for you to tell your friends (heck, that is encouraged), I do ask that if and when someone asks in the comment section on Kickstarter, "What the heck is up with the sticker reward and why are people backing it?" that you don't spoil the fun.

I just wanted to chime in that I was a backer at the HOPE tier and received all six decks + stickers, so whatever happened to Becky's shipment definitely wasn't intended.

Wow talk about coincidence. When I got home a card box waiting for me (as on most nights hehehe) and it was my Hope sticker. The box was empty and only one sticker was in there...

Nah just kidding All decks were there along with 3 stickers. I sent Brian a note thanking him for a great project. Becky I am sure you will get your replacement decks soon enough

I pledged for the HOPE sticker level and received my pledge items today. 6 decks total, 2 each white black and brown along with 3 stickers and a postcard regarding the new 'SOMETHING' mold kickstarter project. The box was a small USPS flat rate box which fits 6 decks perfectly and it was not taped up on the sides. The way the box is constructed, it would be incredibly hard to open the sides without tearing them but it is possible. Though a few small slices to remove some tabs would gain access to the contents very easily and still allow for it to be closed back up.

Anyhow the cards are quite cool, I like how they're not in the standard order but rather come "randomized" already. For my rather untrained hands the bicycle branded deck I opened handled well, doing nice fans and faros easily. The unbranded brown deck though while it fans and cuts awesomely wouldn't do a faro shuffle worth a damn. The edges of the cards are different than the others, I assume it's a different stock than the bicycle branded decks.

Hope (heh heh see what I did there) everything gets sorted out with your order and you're as happy as I am with the pledge.

Aye, or Michigan Mailers. Both have sterling reputations and an error rate under 1% which I feel is a key to success! Jackson is getting better daily, MM has been perfection to date.

Does the fulfillment agency also take care resenting decks that arrived damaged to the sender, or is that something that I will have to do?


Im asking since I'm in Australia and if I ever get a successful project then I will definitely have to use a fulfillment agency.

Sorry, Norbie: I didn't notice this before. Yes, the fulfillment centers all provide replacement decks (or uncut sheets) in case of damage during shipment, but to my knowledge the 'error' or claim rate has consistently been under 1% in fact under 1/4 of 1% for the Requiem fulfillment - and Lorenzo (as well as Lotrek) uses Lake Michigan Mailers, at my recommendation. I also recommend Jackson's Kings Wild Fulfillment and have a couple of more fulfillment centers that I am working with right now to add to that list. Jackson's packaging is definitely ahead of the rest, but he does charge a little more to get that level of service. Of course, it's your choice who you use for fulfillment...

Try doing a faro with the front of the cards facing away from you (don't know the technical term for this, pls halp). The edges are just cut differently. I don't think the stock should be different, though I haven't handled the decks myself yet... it's just a guess right now.

That's how I usually do it. Maybe the knives were a bit dull when they cut out the cards in my deck or something because the edges are noticeably rougher than regular. Quite a few "fuzzies" on the edge shall we say like you see on a cheap deck usually. Messed around with them for about 1/2 hour during 2nd period of the Rangers game here and they did get a bit better but they don't go like butter like the other deck still.

These were well packaged (well, one of the stickers got slightly bent, but no big deal.)

I'm looking forward to opening these soon!

And I figured out what the third sticker says, but I will admit that it could be interpreted two ways, and one of them is not in the same vein as the other stickers. Heh, heh.

Magic--if you're referring to the order of the cards, Brian put them in a particular order for the uncut to "spell" as many different words as possible. It's in the updates somewhere, it just looks like a big ol' hot mess.

But yes, it is different...(insert rim-shot)

I need to apologize. I tried so hard to make this Different Deck special and unique in every way and then when I announced the uncut sheet, I put the deck in the EXACT SAME ORDER as every other normal deck out there.

How embarrassing, right? Well, luckily many of you came to the rescue and pointed out that this needed to be changed. So without further ado, here is a mock-up of what the new uncut sheet will look like. [Image here]

The cards all are mixed, but not in a random order. They are laid out like a crossword puzzle with words spelled out in number form like H.O.P.E. (4673) or L.O.V.E. (5683) but with lots of hidden inspirational words, like "dream", "believe", "imagine"...you get the idea.

Yeah, the uncuts are crossword puzzles. I had to grab the set of 3 sheets since they were so cheap. I am happy to hear that the H.O.P.E tier came through, only problem is that I don't think I was part of the first shipment. The waiting is killing me.

Got mine today. A couple of the stickers were a little bent but, man I never realized before how easy it is to open the end of one of those boxes if it isn't taped. Popped it open, slid the contents out and closed it back in about 60 seconds!

I don't recall actually getting a shipping note. One day, went to my mail box, and the package was there.

I've got all three editions but have only taken a test run on the "White" and the unbranded edition. Ive been able to faro bot decks, just not as easy and nicely as other decks. I also found the "white" edition to have ugly fans. I though maybe it's just me and in not "in the zone", but when I tried the Monarchs at the same time I didn't feel it's me. To me, I was unable to do nice fans with the "White" decks.
