Re: UC Featured Collector for May/June CBJ
Here we go... Box #7
And the Bicycle Sylvain Juzan
How did I get it??
Sylvain is a magician who had these decks made for his shows. These decks were never supposed to be for sale, but some decks were stolen from USPCC when they were being printed. The guy that stole them put them online, but USPCC forced them to take them down...and the employee was fired
a few months later another ebay seller had 2 of these up... I bid and won one. I just thought the original seller sold all the stuff to one person. Later i put 2 and 2 together and realized that this was the same seller as before with a different account after he posted a ton of other decks and uncut sheets...and once again he was forced to take it down.

Yes, it was supposed to be. I'm pretty sure it was abandoned by USPC.

Those merz decks are so hideous lol but I love the Tall Stacks! Wish I could find the pair... for a reasonable price.

Jay, do you have an index or register of some sort that lists which decks are in which box? I know I would be looking through every one of them if I needed to dig up a certain deck

Was wondering the same thing.MagikFingerz wrote:Jay, do you have an index or register of some sort that lists which decks are in which box? I know I would be looking through every one of them if I needed to dig up a certain deck
Also, I always thought there were only one red and one blue of the 1800 series, what's with the other blue one?

Great question.
So, whenever I get a new deck in... I scan the front of the tuck. A while back I wanted to organize my collection, so I made deck stitches of 50 decks (10 across, 5 down) of all my different decks.
I printed them all off, set up some tables in the man-cave, and started sorting.
You can't see in this picture, but to my right was another table set up with all the black boxes I use to hold my decks.
I would take a deck, see what pic/box it goes in, then put it in the box. In the end, what was left was my duplicates.
This was a long process, but I now have all my duplicates pulled from my collection, and I have a deck-stitch-pic of what's in every box.

I'm not sure why/when Ellusionist did it... but they changed the color of the pip on the front of the 1800 series box. So, I had to add it!
I know,... I'm an addict

Re: UC Featured Collector for May/June CBJ
So there was purpose to that stitch job, besides making a cool visual. You're my kind of OCD chocolate man.
I have my decks sorted into categories in their own drawers, and a record of each purchase in a little black book. On my computer there's a separate catalogue of each category that contains any info I have been able to find on each deck. Though that has fallen behind lately.
Do you track your purchases in case of resale later?

I only started tracking purchases this year. I have a little pocket calendar that I picked up at the dollar store, that I keep beside my computer.
On the day packages arrive, I open the calendar to that day and enter what came in, and how much I paid for it.
It seems to be working pretty well so far

Nice, a kind of card diary. More efficient than having to write the dates in by hand.

Jay, we're all addicted to playing cards, buddy. Don't feel alone. We need to start a 12-step program, I guess?

I am working on a spread sheet to track cards. It's a template that comes with Excel 2013. I am modifying it. It's a loooong project and my time is very limited. If/when I finish it I will post it here for any and all that would like to use it.
@mike... 12 step programs are for people who WANT to quit. I am happily addicted!

Yep, and artwork was by Eric Campana ("Mana") if memory serves me well, right? He's the one that recently did the Zinfandel and Indigo decks.CBJ wrote:wahl0108 wrote:What are the top two with the lions?

Re: UC Featured Collector for May/June CBJ
As always, truly nice stuff, Jay! I keep seeing things you have that I lust after, and of course I'd love to have certain things in my collection. I also love that "advertising overwrap" that was used on Lance's original "Expo" Gargoyles deck, and agree that it would make things better and cleaner for everybody if it was used more. I happen to have a lot of Lance's early stuff, including signed decks and uncuts, and I think it was a smart move on my part early on in the process of moving from a strictly vintage/antique deck collector into the mainstream contemporary decks we all have come to enjoy and love.
Again, just a marvelous and truly impressive collection! So glad you are able (and willing) to share!
