Smith No. 3 by The Expert Playing Card Co. is our latest and final installment of our Erdnase 1902 series. This deck has the Smith hands pattern (by Guy Hollingworth) with two casino style ovals that have M.D. Smith’s signature on them. This signature was taken from a copy of Erdnase we have in our library. The Ace of Spades has a rendering of Mr. Smith’s face (like Willis Russell used to do) and the tuck has a die cut hole so you can see Mr. Smith while the deck is closed. Interesting, and nice backs. I'll get a trio to see how they handle. Red Exquisites are still my favorite "at arms' length" deck these days.

Nothing that get´s me excited about this deck. I think the tuck case and backs are boring.

Anything that is 100+ years old isn't going to be measurable by contemporary deck standards, they did a little update with the metallic inks and foiled tuck, but I agree - by today's standards it isn't earthshaking. I still think it's going to handle like butter, we'll see.

Really? Since when does any Expert Playing Card Co. deck ever handle like butter? The only time I can get smooth consistent fans with any of their decks is only after I break them in for a few hours, then it becomes passable. I don't think you should have to break a deck in that much in order for it to fan "like butter", they should fan buttery right out of the box!

That cut out peek-a-boo is nice, but only if it aligns correctly.

I'm not blown away by the design, but if they handle and feel (subjective whether it's positive or negative) like the Exquisite's they'll sell well for us! We'll have them pretty soon anyhow... Trust it's OK to plug as it's still relevant?

Call me a sucker but this deck is just good enough for me to own for the sake of a complete collection. But they better not pull any D$D $#!+ and keep making more after they say they're done! Not that I think CARC will but you've gotta keep your gaurd up nowadays.

I get together about once every 3 weeks for card games with my friends and we prefer CARC decks about 98% of the time for games. Everyone loves the smith no. 3 and the global titans though the Owl eyes are growing on quite a few people. We use the ivory Ask Alexander deck and the green Bee Squeezers (both uspcc decks) every once in awhile as well. I also don't want to mess up my more expensive uspcc decks either.p because we get a little rough with the cards sometimes.

I might get some flak from some folks on this forum for admitting this but I actually prefer epcc cards to uspcc cards for games but maybe I'm just weird and I'm totally ok with that. They just feel better in my hands.,

I'm not into cardistry/flourishing because I have the hands of a 9 year old and got tired of picking up cards off the floor after constantly messing up. I do use uspcc decks when practicing but for now, I think I will just stick to playing card games.

That's not surprising. EPCC decks are stiffer (than non-Bee USPCC decks, at least) so they'll work better for actual playing. The finish is what USPCC does best, which doesn't matter as much in games.
