Any word on adding a little color to the center of the back design?

I don't think I'm gonna add colors to the back, For many reasons, the higher cost is one and the fact that I want the deck to have just 3 colors black red and white.

Here is another try with the tuck.
Thanks for the suggestions.

Let me know what you think!

Personally, I think that's a bad call. I appreciate your honesty by saying you don't want to take on the higher cost of color, but you can always charge a little extra to cover the extra cost for the color - people will pay for a quality, well-executed deck. Your design is just so starkly black and white, and we've seen too many black and white decks already. I feel a little bit of gold color in the middle will elevate the appeal of this deck and attract more backers.

Having said that, if you're committed to such a monochrome design theme, that's your call to make as the designer and don't compromise your vision if you think it's against your design theme. I think the design as-is is still good enough for you to have a successful campaign. However, you may not be maximizing your potential by not adding the accent of color.

The tuck box is looking good, embossing and foil is usually a winning combination. I hope you consider printing or foil on the inside of the tuck as well.

Looking good, I prefer the white tuck over the black one.

Have to agree with sinjin. Other monochrome designs I can think of are Misc Goods, Fanangled and Density (all on KS), and that's just off the top of my head. Don't get me wrong, they're all nice, decent designs. But I feel like they all need something to separate themselves from the pack.

I do totally agree for the foil in the iside of the deck and I'm already in contact with lpcc and uspcc to setup the design for the inside of the box.

I want to stick with the 2 colors and I think I will. Of course I agree with you when you say this will maximixe the profit but I give more importance to designing the deck as I want rather then make more profit.
In the next deck I will probably change to another theme, of course a more colored one. Don't want to stick to the same theme forever.

Ok guys we are almost ready to start.

Still have to wait for the bycicle quote for foiling and embossing on the inside and outside of the tuck.
If it's too expacive I'll go with LPCC wich keeps the prices as low as possible and offers a compereable quality.
Another thing is that they offer a really good fullfillment service for just 1,5 dollars per order (jackson asked me the double).
If so I'll have to change the uncut sheet cause they offer a different one with just 54 cards, we'll loose the 2 explanation cards in the middle.

I don't want for any reason to make the price higher, I think this price is just fair for a card deck.

Hi Guys The project is in kickstarter apparoval cue. I guess it will take a couple of days more to get approved.

I decided to go with USPCC, as someone said on this forum, the first deck should be with USPCC, once you have a name you could change to offer better pricing.
That's why the deck will be a bit more expensive but as this is my first project I want to stick with the USPCC.
For the next ones I could change to EPCC or LPCC as they are cheaper and offer a comparable quality.

I thank you all for your support again.
You'll be the first to know when the project goes online.

This is never a bad option, the fact that this will be a USPCC deck will draw more pledgers than if it was EPCC (which, outside of a few card forums and magic circles, no one really knows who they are). People will always be willing to pay a little more for quality and strong design, and this deck has both. Be sure to bling up your tuck box as you hit stretch goals, maybe even offer up a color option if you raise enough money. Good luck and I'm really looking forward to backing this now.

Still feel like the 4-corner indices are unnecessary when it's not on every card

But pledged, might add for an uncut if the above is changed. Looks a bit busy with all the indices IMO.

I think your campaign is going slower than I would've predicted based on how nice I think your deck is. Sometimes you never know, I thought the Origins deck would break $100,000, that's how good I thought it was, but got less than 60% of that.

Two potential problems that I think may be slowing you down is that the currency is listed in Pounds instead of U.S. Dollars, and I think your video could've had used more production. You need to post regular updates (you don't have even 1 so far) and post what your stretch goals are. I don't know why some people keep their stretch goals a secret, or trickle them out over time. Their meant to be incentives to promote pledging, but if we don't know what they are, then its no use. The most important thing is to market yourself to a broader audience. Get yourselves featured in design blogs outside of collecting/cardistry/magic. While we don't want a bunch of fluff, you need to offer better add ons than just a t-shirt to drive additional revenue. Consider adding coins and storage boxes, those are always popular.

Valerio, not sure whether you'll get a surge and fund or go down in flames. If your deck doesn't get funded I hope you'll come in and discuss what might help you with a relaunch because if any deck deserves to be funded yours sure does. There are several good cases of relaunched decks that flew the second time around. Go for it.

Valerio, fantastic work on this deck! It does remind me of the Misc. Good Co. cards (like other have mentioned) but it has a different story to tell. The history of playing cards is what got me into collecting and the art of custom decks kept me around. This deck does a beautiful job blending those two together. I really do hope this deck gets funded and like Widdee said if it doesn't then a relaunch would be in order. Well done guys!

Hi guys,

I have to say that I'm a little sad about how the campain did so far.
It could do even less than my first ALPHA deck. It probably won't get founded.
There would be probably a re-try but I don't think anything will change, maybe people just don't like it.

I'm here to ask to this community to share the project with anyone you know on facebook, twitter, reddit, anywhere you can.
Please go this reddit reddit and aupvote everyone of the links you see regarding memento. It will help to raise reddit lists.
http://www.reddit.com/user/valave/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
you would have to register first but i guess that a little price to pay for seeing this deck lauched.

This is the link on 9gag post.
http://9gag.com/gag/aVO5nzv" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I will share more links to upvote.

Let's make this deck viral, I think it's the only way to see it founded.

Thank you to everyone that will help and to everyone who already did.
Valerio.

Maybe a smaller target for the project would help. Right now you are gunning for $20000 US approx . A lot of other projects usually go for $10-15K. But then again I am not the expert on what it cost to make a deck. Another factor I would imagine is the fact that the project is based in Italy. I know a lot of folks are still not keen on using their credit card to pledge instead of the usual Amazon payments system.

If you decide to relaunch if this does not fund maybe you go with EPCC and print only 1000 decks. That way you could have a much lower target. I personally think that this deck is gorgeous. It will be sad if it does not fund

Yep: anybody that hasn't given this deck a serious look needs to do so! It's just a very well done and educational commentary on the cards with respect to how each of them fits into the typical French court cards is just fabulous, and the artwork is very well done.

I'm in there, and I hope everybody that hasn't already pledged take the time to think about it. The costs are a little high, and the one thing that I think turns people off is pricing in British Pounds, which has stopped several decks that should have funded in the past, but I don't have a problem with it myself.

Here's the latest court: "Alexander the Great". Anybody with even a passing interest in card collecting needs to review this project's main page for technical information and also look at the updates - once you pledge, of course. 8-)

Antonios - i threw you into the Lion's Den - err - "Deck Artist" group. I really hope this deck picks up - it certainly deserves more attention!

Yep, we've talked about the problems with funding in British Pounds and things. I think it just shows how reticent people are to pledging in anything other than US$, which is kind of odd in the global economy created by the Internet these days, but I suppose people are just resistant to change. This deck should surely have more pledges, no doubt! It's a really well executed theme, and is truly educational even for me, and I know who the French courts were modeled for, but I learn something new every day. I really hope to see it pick up, it's kind of lagging right now.

I don't think it's a question of not wanting to pledge in US $, it's more of an issue with security. A lot of people are uncomfortable with giving their credit card info. I hesitated the first time I went to pledge on Lee's Empire deck. I think it is also why some people object to using Backerkit or Pledge Manager, etc... They just don't like giving personal information to multiple sites. As for convenience, I spoke to someone the other day who thought he would have to pull out his credit card and enter the info every time. He didn't realize it's stored. The same for anyone who sees the currency, doesn't know what the equivalent amount is, and says "nevermind". If they've never actually clicked on a pledge, they don't realize Kickstarter will show a converted price before completing the process. There is also (at least with my bank) an additional fee for international transactions. It varys depending on the amount and is usually pretty small but, it does need to be factored in.

I'm surprised that this deck hasn't done better. But, I was also shocked that Origins didn't bring in much, much more than it did.

Also, I just spoke to a friend of mine in Britain who said that the additional "outside the US" shipping even though the project is in British pounds is a turn off for him.

Well, it goes back to the same thing you said about Origins, it was run in NZD and everybody just was curious wth that was, frankly. Nobody had ever run a campaign from New Zealand before - or not a deck, anyway. The shipping BACK to the UK just isn't going to work, there should be some way to fulfill that part of the decks from Britain.

Or maybe the playing card bubble is popping.

Honestly, this is a really beautiful deck and I sure hope you find some way to get it made and make some money for all your design work.

Does anybody know the recent "design" deck developers - like the Design deck (Ben Barrett-Forrest ) and Atelier (Robert Padbury) - particularly the latter seems to have a devoted online following, if he likes &mentions it in his blog it may help.
