Awesome! Throwing cards is one of the things I can actually do somewhat well. Looking forward to them.

Very interesting! Sounds like a good addition to any collection regardless of how they look. Though I'm not worried that Jason won't deliver on that part as well

Hmmm... $15 for a plastic deck? I would want to see some kind of proof of their durability.

I thought of Gambit when I seen card throwing, never heard or seen any of this.

Looking forward to these as well.
I've noticed the Republic No 2's are throwing very well for me.
Has anyone else had better success with any other current decks?

I found my Blue Bloods to fly really well. J/K.hikeeba wrote:Looking forward to these as well.

Seeing as how I'm still in the beginning stages and can rarely hit what I'm aiming at and I haven't picked up a good backstop yet I damage the cards rather quickly so I've just been sticking with standard Bicycle decks. Been meaning to see if I can find a brick @ Costco, but until then, $4 a deck at the local cornerstore and I get a few days of practice out of a deck before the corners get too banged up and affect their flight.

Re: Banshees - Cards for Throwing -- Coming Soon
Not wasting time on kumquats, pears or prunes, I would throw the card at the most prodigious of the household fruits - the watermelon.
Now I can figure out how deep the card can penetrate the rich, red interior of said melon.

Re: Banshees - Cards for Throwing -- Coming Soon
I never considered getting into the card throwing thing, but these are cool enough to add to the collection. While I'm at it maybe I'll get 2 and use a set to learn. I like the back quite a bit, but assuming the face cards will be normal. Wait, they will at least be a full playable deck, right? Hoping it's not just a one trick pony and the same 52 cards since focus is on throwing.

Jason Brumbalow sent me a couple more pics this morning, and he wanted me to make sure people understood that EVERY card has the measuring system on the face.
These are throwing cards, NOT playing cards.

Re: Banshees - Cards for Throwing -- Coming Soon
I personally can't wait, card throwing is something I can actually do! I have heard the cards are engineered with a blend of high-grade plastics to maximize cutting and penetration power (insert Emiril "BAM!") , plus the cards are extra-durable so you don't have to keep buying new cards. Plus the edges have been bevel cut to maximize carving and penetration ability. Guess, I am going to the store to buy some large targets! (video review coming soon)

Re: Banshees - Cards for Throwing -- Coming Soon
Thanks for the update on the clarification. Don't care, still getting one! Maybe not 2 anymore, but definitely at least one for the collection that I'll also open and mess around with.CBJ wrote:Jason Brumbalow sent me a couple more pics this morning, and he wanted me to make sure people understood that EVERY card has the measuring system on the face.

Re: Banshees - Cards for Throwing -- Coming Soon
Yeah I think I'll pick up a couple of these.
I was only chatting to someone the other day about card throwing, saying how id like to learn. Now these are coming out it's the perfect excuse!
Has anyone seen the video of the world card throwing guy? Wow!

I'm assuming these will be quite pricy, but I still want at least one for the uniqueness.

Very cool concept and really looking forward to adding them to the collection...even if I don't use them, lol
For those of you who don't jump on the pre-order, Collectable Playing Cards will have these in stock the 1st week of June, if you use "sparkz" as the coupon code at checkout you'll receive 10% off your order.
Just an FYI, the code does not expire, so feel free

Re: Banshees - Cards for Throwing -- Coming Soon
The problem with plastic cards are that they sometimes snap and break into pieces due to its material properties, unlike paper cards which has fibers to prevent this from happening. And this is actually made worse with cut outs which results in a concentration of stress. I'd foresee a fair bit of breakage around the corner with the cut outs although you are not supposed to hit with that side (but can you really control that ?)
Due to the nature of throwing cards, I wonder if they actually got an engineer to do some analysis, or just decided to throw some cards..
