Pretty cool. I'm not sold on the court cards though. I find them too bland compared to the number cards.

Its an interesting and well-illustrated deck. I think you can lighten up on the back design though, although evil it doesnt need to be so dark, also the tuckbox could really be more intricate.

Hi Yashi,
thank you for the feedback, it's appreciated!
Evil Deck is tought as a showcase of illustration, so I tried to limit the contrast between court and numbers for have all the cards with the same "visual strength".

Looking really good! Personally I like the one way cards, but if you can find a way to make them two way without sacrificing too much of the bodies and art, I'm all for it!

Will you be launching with Kickstarter? What printing company will you be using?

Really like the art. Might kill it to go two-way at this stage. Pretty much needs to be taken into consideration during the initial design stages. Kinda amazed so many one-way decks keep popping up but guess these designers are not forum types for serious card users.

ETA: Regardless I'll be in for a few, the art is THAT good.

Re: Evil Deck

I will launch the campaign very soon on Indiegogo (a kickstarter campaign would be really complicated to run from Italy).
I hope some people will help me to share it, because I know Kickstarter is far stronger than indiegogo on this kind of projects.

I will print with Cartamundi (they have a section in Italy, but they print in Belgium). I choose the more expensive card I could, "320 superluxe".

About the two way cards, It was an hard choice. When I launched the first version of the Evil Deck, I did more ornate and two ways court cards. But I wasn't much happy, because the numbers and the court were too different. So I preferred sacrifice the two way to have more uniformity and have more space for the body.

If you are curious about the first version, you can have a peek here > https://www.behance.net/gallery/15062259/The-Evil-Deck" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Of course I can understand it's a "strange" choice for many people, I hope you like the project anyways.

I am really happy about the feedbacks you are giving to me, are helpful for improve this project (or, maybe...the next one).
A lot of people are writing me at hello@evildeck.com for preorders and questions (I think many of them come from this forum) , if you want ask me there too.

Thank You for the hints and the support!!!

In this case, I think my vote stays with the one way courts then. Think they work better.

Would you consider having a chat with Valerio? He's an artist in Italy as well who will be launching a deck soon via Kickstarter and he will be printing with USPCC. He didn't have much trouble setting that up from what I heard.

I think the art is very good. I don't mind the one way courts. :) I agree with Eoghann. I highly suggest you consider a way to get your campaign on Kickstarter to increase its chances of success. You will get more exposure as more people are aware of playing card projects in Kickstarter than they are of those in Indiegogo. Also, more people are comfortable with using Kickstarter.

I agree, more people are comfortable with Kickstarter. With Indiegogo there's a 100% risk to backers because no matter whether the projects hits the goal or not the artist will get your pledge money. At least with KS, if the project doesn't hit the goal you're not out anything as a backer.
By the way, I like the design for this deck. Will there be a twin deck (Good Deck)?

About the question IndieGogo/Kickstarter, I enquired about the matter, and as I thought, is very difficult if you haven't a UK or US resident partner (you also need to open a company in US or UK, another problem).
I am still informing/working about this, but probably I will go on IndieGoGo and PRAY you guys to help me with promotion.

Anyways, if I will go with indiegogo I will go for all or nothing, like kickstarter, and I will set a very low goal. I have some money to invest in this project, and I want cover only half the costs with crowdfunding. Hope this could give a project more interest.

Good Deck is my boring twin, and I don't want talk about it. ;)

Hi there!

I want ask an opinion to you guys. As you may know, I was planning to print with Cartamundi, and they are great because allows me to print only few decks (less $$$ risk).
But I heard that expert playing cards (EPCC) decks are really awensome, so I also asked them a quote. They gave me a good price (similar to cartamundi), the only "problem" is that I had to print a lot more decks. I would take the risk of printing more decks, if EPCC quality worth it. Do you have advices for this choice?

Hi
even the Iphone is made in China, but it depends who designs it and who follows the production.
Cartamundi gave me a quotation that was more or less like bicycle, consider that they ask Euro instead of dollar. it´s a problem for a KS campaign based in USA.

I didn't use the = sign. I meant "better than".

And the factory EPCC uses is in Taiwan.

Almost everyone is suggesting me to go with EPCC.
Oh by the way, I decided to ask them a quote because I saw the positive comments on Lorenzo's Deck (I really like your work, complimenti)

I also don't care much if this is produced in EU or China/Taiwan (they could work fine anywhere).
Cartamundi was allowing me to print only 250/500 decks, but I will probably risk a bit more and print 1000 decks with EPCC (I know, it's a really low amount of decks).
We are talking about poker playing cards, so I think it's ok risk some money, right?

Hope that choice will add some value to my project!

Thank you guys! let me know if you have some other considerations or hints

@EvilDeck - I like that you have included large suits. You have a functional deck. I like they are white not red thats different. You do need to work on your back of card. To much white negative space. And watch your box. You have corner designs in your box. That's a no, no. You need to think middle in your box design. There are no edges. Hope that helps...

Hi Sprouts,

This is my "deck package" so I may had broken some rules (or mistakes) : I made the corners because I wanted a "book look", but I think it's a good idea think more "in the middle".

Thank you for the feedbacks, are very useful to improve!

No worries, Oswin. I understand how that could have been misunderstood. Many people use the > sign as an arrow, in which case I would have added a dash to that making it ->. I used it in the mathematical sense as > (bigger than), < (smaller than), = (equal).
