I think I nailed it with the landscape mode. I'd put $5 on it, anyway.

Eoghann, while not QUITE the same, Piatnik sells most of their decks (if not all) in a side by side box. While I would say it's not a tuck box, it is a double decker

LMAO... OK, get serious, folks. Back on track! Next clue: if you have had one, you've had them all. Try again, and think. Ya bunch of dingbats and get serious about it!

Landscape has been done, in 1910 with pictorials and souvenir decks. I already said it's never been done before.

I like Joe's idea. Maybe the cards are made out of a new material as well? Jock's idea would be amazing also.

Hmmm this is a shot in the blue but not so over the top and maybe a real possibility :
UV Ink

When the cards are displayed in the sunlight - the color changes.
It´s been done on T-Shirts and it enhances the design appart from being ultra cool when the effect comes into play.
Let me show you some examples :

(PS : The grin of the cat also glows in the dark ...so its a double combo of 2 special inks)

Now that effect on playing cards - thats what i call GAME CHANGING!

Clues so far...

First real clue: it's bright and shiny and dark at the same time.

Let's go with another direction, then: what is something that can't be done that you would love to see in your hands some time pretty darned soon? I've already given a single clue that combined with this "check check" box marked off that it is now a game of "what the h**** is it" (that will both set a new precedent, set the world of playing cards on its heels and on fire, etc)?? I know that I've asked why this couldn't be done before, and it's always "because we can't do that", but - think about it. If there was one thing that (as a connoisseur collector) you would absolutely have no other choice but to turn off the old ticker or jump?

Lotrek has already announced that "Dark Venexiana" was on the horizon - and obviously not far away, but that in itself is just a piece of the puzzle.

Something that will astound everyone and show them how something un-doable can be done.

LMAO... OK, get serious, folks. Back on track! Next clue: if you have had one, you've had them all. Try again, and think. Ya bunch of dingbats and get serious about it!
... Well I have absolutely no idea. Hope I haven't missed any clues!

Haha. Googling "if you've had one, you've had them all" I get many results discussing STDs. WTF?

Man those clues sure are vague, Mike. Haha I'm completely stumped.
Thanks for the highlights Godzillian!

Ok one more shot: tuck that slides out like a matchbox!

Obsidian... it's something to do with obsidian...? Obsidian-crafted tuckboxes? I'm not sure how this would be done, ... but I'm sure it's never been done before. I wonder if it'd be too heavy... but for collectors, it'd just be on display all the time.

EDIT: Googled the above quote and I got the moon. So maybe moon rock isn't that far off lol.

How about a tuck box that will hold two decks (maybe even side by side) so that we'd have bright and shiny white deck and a dark deck

Oh wait, better yet, how about a tuck box that will hold a collector's coin?
Coins are bright and shiny...

Mark
The coins may not be dark though, unless they were made from Obsidian. But Mike had this to say before...

Both, actually. Someone was in the ballpark...
So it may not be an obsidian/bright-dark-shiny coin.

I'll expound on my guess and say it's a transparent Obsidian glass tuckbox. Venexian glass is an important part of Venice, and Obsidian is bright, shiny and dark at the same time.

Mike's first clue was something about Bolognia, Italy. Bologna is famous for its musical and cultural offerings.

A musical deck! Or a music box with a deck inside that rotates when you open it! :)

okay, so i've been thinking and I thought this was way off base, but the more I think about it, the more it makes sense...

a deck of all mirror cards. Something Wicked "this way comes?" don't you mean, something wicked comes this way?

bright and shiny, but dark at the same time? mirrors reflect light, but are otherwise dull/dark...

set the world of playing cards on fire? Well IDK, but it is something every magician would want, so many gaff cards, and think of all the tricks that are possible!

If you've had one, you've had them all... I could only find one mirror deck via my quick and dirty search, if you had that one, you had them all?

Maybe I'm reaching, but who knows! here's giving it yet another attempt

With the amount of hype, sounds like we've got a Venexiana: Madison deck coming our way. Sorry, but while I look forward to what's coming down the pipe, I won't buy into the hype machine bro. Just come out with it or at least stop pissing on my boots and telling me it's raining.

I'm kinda on the same path with Grind on this, something mirrored but glass would be out of the question for safety purposes, however there are and number of metals such as titanium or stainless steel which can take a reflective polish. It almost has to be reflective to be both shiny and dark.
