Like he's said: one version to play cards, one for collectors. The difference should be obvious, I hope. I'm imagining those 'yellow' areas to be gold metallic, but you never know.

Oh...I thought since JR said the tuck is the most expensive part, then that would be the primary difference. Seems a shame to put the more spectacular backs in decks that are likely never to be opened.Mike Ratledge wrote:Like he's said: one version to play cards, one for collectors. Re: Tally-Ho - Kings Wild Project Edition
I have to agree with this sentiment. Most collectors never open their decks, so most of the awesome blue and gold backs may never see the light of day. I never liked it when some designers have a regular edition tuck box and a limited/collector edition tuck box that is blinged out, but the cards themselves are identical in both tuck boxes. To me, Tallys were always the ultimate user deck: awesome design, great quality, yet available to the masses. So in this case, I wouldn't even mind if Jackson appeases the collector's with a tuck with all the bells and whistles, but had the spectacular backs available to all so they can actually be used and appreciated.bamabenz wrote:Oh...I thought since JR said the tuck is the most expensive part, then that would be the primary difference. Re: Tally-Ho - Kings Wild Project Edition
Hey guys, at that point all the designs you may see are just me trying different things and seeing how everybody responds. I too really like the Navy Blue and Gold scheme. Mike was right when he mentioned everything that was yellow being Gold.
Nothing is set in stone at this point but I'm trying to produce them where I can have a widely available deck for people that grind through decks like cardists and magicians. With that said don't expect them to cost like $4.95 cuz I won't print 20K of them like the big boyz do. I still want the more economical ones to be above the low bar the other guys have set.
On the flip side I will have the blinged out version with the crazy tuck case. After the word has spread and if people are responding well enough I will strive to print to runs of decks so that LTD will be different cards as well. That will just take more support from you guys as it just doubles the price of production and I'm keeping this off of Kickstarter so I'm much more limited in what I can do because of funds.
I love and hate kickstarter on the one hand you have to fight the Kickstarter Stigma but on the other the skies are the limit with what is possible because funding is so much different.
It seems like everybody is liking them and I'm really excited about these new Tally-Hos being the first deck to have my new Kings Wild Standard court cards. In no way am I saying that this is a Cardists specific deck cuz it's not, but I've tapped the advice and comments of a good friend that is a cardists to really make this an incredible preforming deck in the hands of cardists. I'm also really striving for the courts to be new and fresh but standard enough that won't throw any body off if you used them during a magic performance as well.
Also, many of the people that I have previewed the back to have already dubbed it the "Turtle Back"

Re: Tally-Ho - Kings Wild Project Edition
This makes me very happy! In most cases there doesn't need to be huge sacrifices made to accommodate a deck for cardists, but many designers just doesn't seem inclined to put in the extra effort. Btw is this friend someone we might know of?JacksonRobinson wrote: It seems like everybody is liking them and I'm really excited about these new Tally-Hos being the first deck to have my new Kings Wild Standard court cards. Re: Tally-Ho - Kings Wild Project Edition
I don't really get the Kickstarter Stigma. While there is certainly a lot of crap there, there are also very serious artists, such as Uusi, Ben Templesmith and Dale Mathis. While I understand that there is additional costs involved, most business has to deal with marketing costs of some sort.JacksonRobinson wrote:Hey guys, at that point all the designs you may see are just me trying different things and seeing how everybody responds. The biggest plus in my view is that you get an accurate view of demand, which allows you to accurately gauge production runs, In the case of King's Wild, how could you have predicted the numbers for Fed 52 part 1? Or the Sherlock decks? Given the built in Holmes fan base, I would have guessed they would have outsold Fed 52. When you get around to Tolkien, will that be Fed 52 numbers, Name of the Wind, or something far greater?
Anyway, wherever they go on sale count me in for a brick of each.

Re: Tally-Ho - Kings Wild Project Edition
Have no fear as to how your Tally Ho Turtle Backs will be received, I anticipate near universal approval and popularity. I'm also very encouraged to hear that you will be keeping cardists in mind with this deck (and others hopefully). I'd love to see a cardistry-specific deck that's well made. I know the Virts have their signature decks, the Virtuoso decks, but given their incredible cardistry chops, I was mildly disappointed, especially with the first version. When Lee Asher produced his 605 series, I gave a fairly harsh review on Decknique given the hype he gave to his decks. He reached out to me and we had a very in-depth discussion on the philosophy and manufacturing of the 605s, and he conceded to me that the 605s are a magician-centric deck. He told me he had plans to produce a deck specifically for cardists, but he hasn't gotten around to it yet, probably due to his jam-packed schedule. From what I see of your prototypes so far, I can see this as being a go-to deck for cardists due to the borders and bold design and color scheme.JacksonRobinson wrote:Hey guys, at that point all the designs you may see are just me trying different things and seeing how everybody responds.....It seems like everybody is liking them and I'm really excited about these new Tally-Hos being the first deck to have my new Kings Wild Standard court cards.

Re: Tally-Ho - Kings Wild Project Edition
I recall a dispute between someone from E and Jamie (fullboatdealer) on who gets to produce the Ghost Tallys, and E eventually backed down and backed out, so I thought Jamie would move forward on this. I recently tried to contact him and sent an email asking if the Ghost Tallys were in the works, but I've not received any kind of a response from Jamie. Its a shame, he used to be pretty active on our boards with great insight into the USPCC and he took care of forum members with additional discounts for his eBay store, but now he never comes by. I don't know what happened, maybe he had a blow up with BMP and then refused to come back, or not allowed to?
Anyways, I'll have to bank on Jackson's new Tallys to tide me over until the Ghost Tally (hopefully) come out.

Re: Tally-Ho - Kings Wild Project Edition
There definitely not be any issues with the Kings Wild Tally-Ho as always Jackson will clear things ahead of time, if he hasn't already.
Like the Sherlock and the Army/Marine/Air Forces/Navy decks, Jackson will make sure he's got the go ahead before trying to offer the deck for sale. It's one of those situation where it's better to be really safe than sorry.

This will be my first test drive of my new Kings Wild Funded Platform.
Deck prices will be as follows:

1x Brick $90 Plus Shipping
1x Gross $1000 Plus Shipping
With Kings Wild Funded both domestic & international shipping are handled separately so International costumers will not have to feel the sting of paying both domestic and international shipping. My platform is simple to use and I'm sure most everyone will find it an enjoyable experience.
Here are images of all the Court Cards & Gaff Cards that have already been approved my USPCC Legal and Marketing and also have already been submitted for production. I'm being very realistic about production times and am advertising a estimated delivery date for December 2014 but predict delivery earlier than that.
The court set I am using for the Kings Wild Tally Ho deck are my new Kings Wild Standard Court set that I will be using on future "standard" style decks. The Tally Ho AoS and Jokers are unique to the Kings Wild Tally Ho deck and are not part of the Kings Wild Standard Court Set.

I have to say I'm disappointed by those huge indices. Face up fans will not look pretty with those, and knowing that all of his future "standard" decks will have those make me sad
Courts look great though.

Don't be sad MagikFingerz I'll take care of you and shrink the indices a bit. I personally really like big indices makes for highly readable deck. I can sacrifice a little real estate.MagikFingerz wrote:I have to say I'm disappointed by those huge indices. Courts look great though.

Re: Tally-Ho - Kings Wild Project Edition
That warms my heart, Jackson! The ones in the photos are closer to Jumbo Index cards than standard ones. I understand the desire for readability, but at a certain point you sacrifice practicality for it (card players having to spread the cards farther apart to see the indices). I personally think that the USPCC standard is the best size for regular decks, but that's just me.

That was my only issue with this deck, too. I prefer standard indices and I love the Tally-Ho Circle Backs. I'm definitely going to stock up on these once they're availableJacksonRobinson wrote:Don't be sad MagikFingerz I'll take care of you and shrink the indices a bit. Same here. Tally -Ho doesn't get enough love IMHO. I can't wait for these. I'm getting a brick... at least.

Re: Tally-Ho - Kings Wild Project Edition
I don't have any Hos in my collection so these will be the first. Also those courts put me in mind of the Occults courts by how colorful they are.

Now the question is... what happened to the Limited Ed Tallys with gold/yellow accents? Will those be released on Wednesday as well?

Sorry for double-posting, but I thought this new info justifies the extra post.

EDIT: I know I posted a picture of a red back, but it is uncertain if there will be red Turtlebacks.JacksonRobinson wrote: There will be no limited edition during this project. I want to keep this project very simple so that my first "go" at Kings Wild Funded has a great chance of success. I do plan on making a LTD edition of my Tally Ho deck but for now, no. I also wanted to keep the production cost low to help keep the retail price low.

Re: Tally-Ho - Kings Wild Project Edition
As of now I WILL be producing a LTD Version with the Gold and Blue back BUT at a different time. The focus of this project is two fold, one to create an economical Kings Wild deck that more people can enjoy because of the price point. Second, this project will be the first project I run off of KS and on my new Kings Wild Funded. Kings Wild Funded is fully developed and has a squeaky clean flow. I wanted for the first project to be simple and straight forward with little moving parts. 100% of the art work is done, It has been approved and blessed by USPCC legal, and 100% of the art work has already been submitted and in the production schedule of USPCC.Godzillian wrote:Now the question is... what happened to the Limited Ed Tallys with gold/yellow accents? My goal is not necessarily to break fund raising records or create a huge 100K+ project. My focus with Kings Wild Funded is to create and perfect a lazor focused approach to creating the highest quality playing cards available.
Back to the possible LTD Tally Hos, I would expect those to appear later this year. I really like the Tally Ho brand and it's History so I foresee me creating multiple editions.
Magikfingerz, Here are the updated indices. They are just about spot on to the size of USPC standard indices.
