Love the new designs. Wasnt expecting this to be launched on ks though, i thought it was going to be a jp exclusive.

They really do look like a "set" now and the borders do look much nicer. I'll be in too, Magik!MagikFingerz wrote:I love it, Randy. Silver on both as that was what most people seemed to like, while making the gold into the "limited" color. And the blue is just amazing, fits really well with the silver. The borders are a positive change as well. These just went from "will most likely get them at some point" to "instabuy" for me

Couldn't agree more. Hoping there will some Euro/UK friendly shipping prices which, knowing you, will be the case.JPMiddleton wrote:Thanks for posting that Randy, I know you're busy!
Thanks for the comments about he new backs folks, I've got to say the subtle border tweaks have really improved the design and I'm in love with the silver/blue back!

Re: LUXX Playing Cards ~ Designed by Randy Butterfield.
Neither were we to be honest. I was pretty against it, but over time i've warmed to the idea. For the most part it's because it will allow us to meet the demand in full (if, all being well, it is there! ) wheres if we just went ahead and funded this ourselves I think we'd be limiting ourselves in all honestly to a smaller run that we'd like.volantangel wrote:Wasnt expecting this to be launched on ks though, i thought it was going to be a jp exclusive.
The date is to be confirmed, but we're aiming for April.

No problem... there's a good chance that it's not going to be a Kickstarter campaign actually. It's not 100% as it happens, but will update the thread as and when.Designkiller wrote:JPMiddleton wrote:Thanks Ivan!Designkiller wrote:I think it´s a nice start, nice back.

Re: LUXX Playing Cards By Randy Butterfield - Pre-Orders MAY
Just a quick update folks. This is most likely going to be a pre-order in May sometime (TBC) on our site rather than Kickstarter. This isn't 100% just yet, but i'm pretty confident about this.
I've also attached 2 AoS. Feel free to give us some feedback as to which you prefer and why!

I only see 1 AoS. Would much rather have a pre-order than KS though

Re: LUXX Playing Cards By Randy Butterfield - Pre-Orders MAY
Its got to be the second AoS.
Traditionally, the AoS is the most ornate card in the deck. In a lot of card games, its the most important or strongest card, so it should be special above and apart from the other cards and aces. Whenever a new custom deck comes out, the AoS is one of the first things I look at because that tells me from one quick glance how special, unique, and cohesive the deck is likely to be. It also is an indicator of the artistic and creative chops of the designer because that is where he/she can really show off. Seriously, this should be Card Design 101. I am always bored to tears whenever I see a plain, small, or weak AoS in a deck. Please go with the second AoS.

Hey Everyone,
We are definitely going with the second, more elaborate, AOS. The first version is just to show the level of decoration the other 3 Aces will have (minus the copy).
thanks, Randy

Re: LUXX Playing Cards By Randy Butterfield - Pre-Orders MAY
Personally i think the colours can be stronger on the courts than this, these look washed out. And washed out doesnt translate into LUXX (luxury)

I think it would look quite nice to have simplified courts. Or maybe swapping out some of the standard detail for the more intricate detail that you used on the other cards.

Re: LUXX Playing Cards By Randy Butterfield - Pre-Orders MAY
Hey Everyone,
Just so you can judge the Courts and Number Cards as a whole, here's the Tens and Kings for the LUXX Deck. Remember, the point of these Decks are to be a Poker Set. That, in definition, calls for very minimal customization to the Face Cards. I've seen Poker players kick out a Deck because the PIPS weren't Red and Black!
The real addition to the Faces are the inner circle borders on the larger PIPS, the extra borders around the Court characters and a few touches of circles and swishes to the character outfits. These are all meant to tie in the Back and Tuck designs and still be standard enough to pass muster for the Poker players.
thanks, Randy

Re: LUXX Playing Cards By Randy Butterfield - Pre-Orders MAY
Considering what Randy said, that this is meant to be a poker deck to be played with, I think this is as custom as it can get and that Randy pulled that off masterfully without going overboard. I'd even say the color on the court cards makes it easier to spot the suit.

I still think there can be stuff done to the grey areas, it looks unfinished as is, maybe colour in the grey areas, just a suggestion.
