The Interlace deck - COMING TO KS JUNE 16th!
Hello UC!
My name is Christian Sass and I've been working feverishly on a deck for almost 2 months now. Since I've spent the past week editing a pitch video for KS, I figure its about time to officially announce that I'm rounding the last corner of this race before launching. I'm sure some of you have seen my thread on the Discourse:
http://www.playingcardforum.com/design- ... terlaced'/
Just in case you haven't, here's your first look at Interlace. A new Bicycle branded deck that will be hitting Kickstarter in the next couple weeks. I will post more in this thread as we get closer to completion but I would love to hear your feedback and field any questions leading up to the launch.

Wow that back is pretty wicked! I've always had a fascination for Celtic knots.

Re: Interlace deck coming in April
I hope those courts are going to be bigger. That's a lot of negative space...
Interesting concept though, I particularly like the lines going over the edge of the card. Should make for a nice fan.

Nice, and something different! I'm so tired of seeing things recolored & reissued. Refreshing...

Re: Interlace deck coming in April
Saw this on Kickstarter today and thought maybe it was your deck. Then I looked at the details and thought 'what happened to those nice designs, that doesn't look right'. Now it all makes sense, just bad timing of another celtic style deck. Looks like you'll have competition when yours goes up.

Re: Interlace deck coming in April (wap)
not bad timing. totally different deck. im not trying for a celtic design really anyway.
Re: Interlace deck coming in April
Im still trying to decide how to handle the pips myself.. been soaking up a lot of the feedback that every other deck has gotten in the past and realize how critical it is. I should just post a bunch of snapshots of options. i know i posted some in the other forum but im sure that was some early stuff.
Re: Interlace deck coming in April
Here's a simple form I've made to collect a quick headcount of those interested in this deck. please fill it out if you already plan to pledge. There could also be goodies for those who participate. http://bit.ly/1hjKJit" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Re: Interlace deck coming in April
the first 50 people to sign up on my email list will get a free interlace decal... I will post a picture of the first cut soon.
Re: Interlace deck coming in April
Maybe a little too intricate for mass production??
But the final decal will look close to this.. I'll keep tweaking it till i can cut 50 without losing my mind de-weeding the vinyl

Re: Interlace deck coming in April
I really like this! Definitely unique. I agree with MagikFingerz, though. Might want to consider enlarging the court so it takes up more space on the card.
Re: Interlace deck coming in April
You're looking at a much older screenshot that some pulled from earlier in my other development thread... The courts have been expanded to fill the content area on the cards
sometimes i forget which forum i've posted the most recent versions to, so here are some updates for you fine people over here
my main concern at the moment ( and i'm planning on leaving it to the kickstarter backers to decide) is what to do with the pips and indices.

Re: Interlace deck coming in April
They still seem to be too narrow. You do realize that the standard courts you have there are bridge sized, right? Bridge size is something like half an inch narrower than poker size.
Re: Interlace deck coming in April
No i did NOT realize that! Awesome! Thanks! I wish there were a class.. although this experience has taught me a TON. I guess I'm much more artist than card handler. but with people like you I'm getting there. do you think its advantageous to use the full poker width for the courts.. (which by the way might limit my space for indices even more) at least im only at the roughing stage and it isnt a huge deal to change yet.

Re: Interlace deck coming in April
The courts really do need that extra line to make them more 3D the King of diamonds and queen of clubs look flat without it.The king of hearts however Pops out .Also the decal looks cool ,but can only see Clubs,Spades and Hearts Where`s the Diamond.
Re: Interlace deck coming in April
Jock: that's just how i layout the path that the lines take... they will all get the 3d treatment in the end. it's just my method of determining the balance and composition before laying in the details

Re: Interlace deck coming in April
Hi Sastian ,i think the meaning behind my post didn`t come across as it should have.it`s obvious the last two pics are rough early drafts and the KoS is near finished article. As i`ve said in earlier posts i like this deck (I`ve got my name on your mailing list) and i`m glad you went with the 3D effect to make the cards pop out. Sorry for any confusion. -Jase-

Re: Interlace deck coming in April
Yeah, I think it'd be better if the courts took up more width so there isn't so much negative space. You might not need that much space for the indices.sastian wrote:No i did NOT realize that! Re: Interlace deck coming in April
as soon as i finish my back tweaks today ill mock one up for you to see...
Re: Interlace deck coming in April
Back is done to a point... i have a few little issues i'm considering tackling but for all intensive purposes this one could go to press. If your curious what im fretting over check out my other thread http://www.playingcardforum.com/design- ... '/new/#new" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
tomorrow ill attack my face cards and widening the area they occupy as opposed to what MagikFingerz & Sher143 pointed out was a bridge sized court.

So i went back deep into my work to find out where i got this "bridge sized" court... once i scanned a standard poker sized court and placed it under my art i recalled my process that i started with a standard deck... i found the file where i compared all of the standard decks and decided to elongate them to be taller because of all the post that i had read where people like larger court face sizes.. no no these are not based on a bridge face.. but are just customized to use more space on top and bottom because i wanted to leave the same size for the standard pips and indices...

Re: Interlace deck coming in April
Should I point out the obvious...
The template does say, "Poker Die," and not, "Bridge Die."
So I think it is fairly safe to say this is the right die for "Poker" size cards...

Re: Interlace deck coming in April
i think because I lengthened them in height they have more at a bridge proportion and that's what was being mistaken as a bridge size
Re: Interlace deck coming in April
progress so far today.. i think i finally have a method for this style.
