Re: Allure Playing Cards - Live on Kickstarter
Looks nice, the design looks metallic in all the promo images shown. I guess I have not seen a such a heavy gold deck before, how would these look without metallic inks?
If we achieve 250% Funded: Metallic Ink will be added to the designs

Re: Allure Playing Cards - Live on Kickstarter
I'm not sure if I should feel honored or offended by the similarities of the Allure Deck and my Deck that just came out a few short months ago (http://houseofplayingcards.com/playing- ... -deck.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;)!
Similar use of Gold Borders on the Back and Face Cards, similar use of dark grey with a subtle pattern on the Face Cards, Gold PIPS with a "Metallic" effect.... They have the same vibe as the ORNATES, just followed through with a lot less details. The Back Design is definitely different though!
Metallic Inks don't add a ton of cost but I'm guessing they have them available at the 250% Goal because with their Designs Metallic Inks won't really help. Using Metallic Inks on non-Solid areas usually doesn't work very well.
thanks, Randy

Re: Allure Playing Cards - Live on Kickstarter
Not really. You extend the gold border past the edge of the card, effectively making it a "borderless" design, and they cut the cards out as usual. You might get a tiny shift of the border between cards but it's rarely noticeable unless you are really looking for it.badpete69 wrote:Doesn't the border create issues at printing?
The Ornate (as Randy pointed out) is similar in some aspects and looks great in deck form.

Re: Allure Playing Cards - Live on Kickstarter
These look pretty nice but I really don't like the faces. They just don't look good IMO. I do like the back design, though.
In the title of the Kickstarter, it says that it is a Bicycle deck. But on the deck there is no Bicycle branding.

Re: Allure Playing Cards - Live on Kickstarter
A bit concerned about this one as it's by the guy who did Genesis which had some funding issues and it's not clear to me (since I didn't back it) if it ever got made.
At any case, he's not being very responsive (already) on the KS comments so it's not looking great right now. When will project creators realize that the more they engage with their backers the better off they are?!?!
Look at how great Russell and many of the others are here and on their KS projects. It's really not that hard.

Thanks for the code, Max! Not sure whether I'll increase my pledge just yet, but I'll keep it in mind if I do.

it seemed to me some confusing too, specially for that Performance finish I didn't know anything about, so I asked Noel and he told me about the stock and finish so I could clarify it in my post. it is Bicycle stock with air cushion finish.

Re: Allure Playing Cards - Live on Kickstarter
Randy, I think your design is stunning and for sure, you are the inspiration for many card lovers and designers... You must feel honored! . anyway, when I saw the Allure, it didn't remind me your ornates so you are seeing them from a more technical point of view...RandyButterfield wrote:I'm not sure if I should feel honored or offended by the similarities of the Allure Deck and my Deck that just came out a few short months ago (http://houseofplayingcards.com/playing- ... -deck.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;)!

By the way, when are you going to share with us your next deck (if any)?

That's not exactly what I meant. I was talking about Bicycle branding.max wrote:Evan wrote:These look pretty nice but I really don't like the faces. They just don't look good IMO. I do like the back design, though.

Good god does this guy send out updates every day?
Your image isn't working for me, but I saw that this morning. The other images for boxes etc do not feature the bicycle. Perhaps just a computer generated image? He does say "USPCC and the Bicycle® Brand" in the description of the KS, just figured he was talking about the stock and not the box since his box art did not feature it.

Re: Allure Playing Cards - Live on Kickstarter
This design really looks good. I for some reason don't like the borders though.
Re: Allure Playing Cards - Live on Kickstarter
Here is the full image. Only thought is that poker is not centered for some reason? Otherwise the addition or lack of the Bicycle really doesn't bother me.
Re: Allure Playing Cards - Live on Kickstarter
It probably isn't centered because if it was, you wouldn't be able to read it once a seal was added. I can't think of any decks that had a descriptive word on the top centered.Ryric wrote:

I like adding Bicycle to the box. They will sell better.
Thanks!
Re: Allure Playing Cards - Live on Kickstarter
The seal would cover the top and back, usually doesn't cover the front of the box.BMPokerworld wrote:It probably isn't centered because if it was, you wouldn't be able to read it once a seal was added. I can't think of any decks that had a descriptive word on the top centered.Ryric wrote:

Looks super silly when the bottom is centered, and the text box has flourishes that point out the center so distinctly. Better off dropping it completely.

That isn't the front of the box. Where poker is written, it is the top. That is probably where you are confused. Nothing would be above Bicycle on the front. Poker world appear on the top.Ryric wrote:The seal would cover the top and back, usually doesn't cover the front of the box.BMPokerworld wrote:It probably isn't centered because if it was, you wouldn't be able to read it once a seal was added. Re: Allure Playing Cards - Live on Kickstarter
Just got Grimoire deck and it has off-center "poker" on the top of the tuck box just as in the pic of this deck. Looks fine and makes sense (seal would indeed obscure).
Re: Allure Playing Cards - Live on Kickstarter
Day no. 12, Update no. 10. Another day, another limited wood box. Noel continues to remind me I need to find a decent box/display/storage option for my decks. I think Noel sends me more emails then my family.
Re: Allure Playing Cards - Live on Kickstarter
I dunno, I'd rather have updates every day than not enough.
Re: Allure Playing Cards - Live on Kickstarter
So what are people's thoughts on the short term "sales" on KS. First Black Friday and now the BOGO one?
First I think it really complicates things and I have not participated, plus with the fluid nature of KS pledges it just seems prone to abuse of one sort or another. Looks like the Black Friday stirred up 1-2K+ of additional funding at least?

Re: Allure Playing Cards - Live on Kickstarter
Well, they'll get notification of all new and changed pledges dated to when they happen, so he's got the information he'll need to do it, especially since he's having people message him the packages they want. So, really, if the guy running it wants to put up with needing to micromanage the bookkeeping like that, then, well, good for him I gues. It seems a bit silly to me but whatever really.
