Bicycle Legacy - 4PM Designs - KS not funded "But Wait!"

Unread post by th4mo »

So, who's coming back for this the second time... and who was too turned off by the cancellation to give Paulo a second shot?

I was pretty hard on him when he was considering cancelling, and i know cancelling has hurt him. But i've come around and am willing to back again for a pair.

These are actually pretty nice looking cards and i hope he makes it (again ;) )

This is how I feel. I have no hard feelings towards Pablo, but to be honest, I only pledged the first time around because they said they would put a special seal on early backers who pledged on the first day from 12AM - 4PM. Although there was some mention of carrying that over to the next campaign, it wasn't really stated clearly during relaunch. In between the cancellation and the relaunch, the Requiem campaign was in full swing and I managed to snag a Gran Riserva, so that's where my funds from the previous Legacy campaign shifted.

Best of luck to Pablo, though. It's a good design, just not for me at this time.

Same here. I like the design though and I'll probably pledging but I'll be jumping in on the last minute unless I manage to snag an early bird.

Thought I would point out that there's been a third deck added:

https://s3.amazonaws.com/ksr/assets/001/639/678/2d6ff1e25e82fbac2f70a4366ab4ba77_large.jpg?1392514245

I'm still not feeling this one. No idea why he cancelled so close to funding, then relaunched with a bigger goal and then added a third deck but has done barely any promotion. In fact all three updates have been set to backer only! That is so weird... why only three updates and why backer only?

He's got every chance of making it... but $30K won't pay for 3 decks really so I dunno...

This black decks would be produced with MPC. 500 decks with MPC best quality cost less than $6 a deck and pledge this deck cost 17$.

$17 don't reflect the quality of this deck but more its rarity, in my humble opinion.

I think i will not pledge this black deck...

Ah didn't realize that. Maybe it's in the backer's only update? Really disappointed with the way this project is being managed, which is so strange and 4PM have always been one of the ones who "got it right" especially with Grid and Grid 2.0.

I have pledged the new MPC decks (see https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/ma ... ying-cards" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) and I have looked a lot their site.

In the update, 4PM said that the printer would be most likely MCP...

17$ for a MPC deck, it costs and arm... and a leg too...

It feels like a way to boost funds, rather drum up further interest in the project.

I like 4PM and their designs, but if a design isn't popular enough to sustain itself all the price restructuring and artificial exclusivity in the world wont prop a project up.

The idea of a signature series isn't new - and it is a good idea, but perhaps not one for KS.
On the other hand do you really need to reinvent the wheel (or two wheels)?

Have never been a huge fan of this design... always felt far too "white" for me. It's a shame, I really want to like it and I like where it's gone with the court cards, but perhaps the two-tone design just doesn't work for me.

I agree. Fantastic AoS and I love the large-winged back design. But everything else just falls a tad short, visually. Reminds me of the Lucent deck deck in a way... I pledged for that one but unfortunately it never got funded. But I think that was mostly because of the abundance of negative space.

These look amazing!!!

UPDATE:
"Today we got in our a legacy prototype decks and wanted to share them with you all. These decks help us test out different shades of color and give us a proper look at how the artwork transfers to cards. We have protodecks for both Legacy blue and red as well as the limited edition black. The detail in the artwork comes through quite well and we are extremely excited to see how the final product would be.

They do look good, but I can't get myself to add on $20 for a non-USPCC deck. I buy decks I like regardless of rarity, so the print run number doesn't really matter to me.

Yeah, I realized after I posted that the black one is not USPC.
That's a shame... it's the nicest of the 3

It's especially bizarre to have the nicest of the three decks printed somewhere other than USPCC, because this whole project is SUPPOSED TO CELEBRATE THE BICYCLE LEGACY!!! :?
I'm curious to see what the AoS looks like on the black deck... compared to the red and blue "Bicycle" AoS...

And then to so obviously overprice this third deck to try to make up for the shortfall in the funding for the other two decks...

Sigh... I am a fan of Paulo's earlier work, and i wish him continued success, but he keeps digging himself a deeper and deeper hole with this project. Notice that he hasn't been around much for feedback this time around either.

I really do like this deck, but i don't see it succeeding with its current lack of momentum. Wish he had left well-enough alone the first time around.

Being only 71% in the last 26 hours I don't think this will fly. A shame, with so many crappier designs being funded. If they had gotten over themselves about their "plan" for this deck and let the first campaign run its course it would have at least gotten printed, if not with all the "bells and whistles" it deserves. Oh well, hopefully they'll get a chance to make it some other way.

Nope, it surely did not - change the OP to reflect that it was not funded...

But just after I posted, they put up an Update on their KS page that they had worked out a deal with Gamblers Warehouse to have them printed, so - we're going to have to wait and see.

I tried, but the milirary considers that to be a gambling site for some reason. I'm thinking that I don't want to push my luck and ask them to create an exception.

Same here, although I still think it was a bad idea to cancel their first campaign. Though I can't put myself in their shoes and know for sure if there was a better way to go about things, so I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt on that one.

Btw, good to see you back on the boards, Ortho :)

Hope this is not a huge violation of etiquette... I am copying here what i posted in an "introduce yourself" thread, because i'm not sure how may people will see it there:

What is the connection between Gambler's Warehouse and BMPokerworld? :?
Did anyone else notice this???

I decided to never do any more business with BMPokerworld, and this has me wondering if i should cancel my order...

I'll take the liberty of quoting what Alysha responded to this in her intro thread.
Alyooola wrote:Hello th4mo!

Well, to be totally honest with you, we hadn't really gotten all of our ducks in a row to announce this yet... But I want to be fully transparent with everyone about this so I will go ahead and explain. We actually purchased the BMpokerworld company and inventory outright last week. The company is being absorbed by Gambler's Warehouse. With Bmpokerworld once being a competitor of ours, we had to make the best business move possible when this opportunity was presented to us. We have absolutely nothing to do with the previous owner and hope that this does not deter you from doing business with us in the future.

I hope you understand this from a business perspective. Again, please feel free to direct any questions that you have my way and I will do my best to answer them for you :)
