Seems we are mostly in agreement on this one: either of the ALT.0x versions takes a bit of focus away from the actual court. I'd stick with your first version, though I remember somebody wanted you to go towards ALT02, I think it's just overpowering the konge af diamanter/kung av diamanter/re di denari/KoD! (I'm flexible, though)
Haha that would be me, i was asking for him to experiment a little to see how the effects would turn out. I think what Lorenzo did on the King of Diamonds was to have the gradient run in the opposite direction, a subtle change that doesnt take away from the image. I think that should be the way forward as well.

Agree. Gives it a nice 3D effect somewhat.
You'z wantz sum 3D, do ye? I've got ye sum 3D. But I can't show it - yet. (lord, I do antagonize people so well, don't I?)

Nej, nej. Not so fast - there's a reason to the rhyme and a rhyme to the reason. Keep up with me, it will all be revealed here shortly.

eheh no no, the queens are women...
I just did "heretic jacks"

BUT
in a couple of courts i kept a bit of traditional reference. See the jack of hearts for example, she has the feather (as a pen).
suicide king or not?

they are veeeery different from each other :)
I start working from the concept before I start with the graphics... Heretic was made before Requiem, and when I started I wanted to be near the standard feeling, new graphics with the same "normal" deck feeling. That´s why the pips are super-classic

Lorenzo, can i just ask what are the inspirations behind Heretic ? The back design looks like some quite a few elements influenced by islamic symbology/writing. And parts of the deck seems to be in latin, etc. Hence im quite curious !

Hi Volantangel

The beginning started with astrology only. I like the symbols of the planets and all the mystery behind. Then I found the so called "metatron's cube" (which is not a transformer) and the history behind. Metatron is the archangel that seats on top the throne of God, according to apocryphal texts. (If I´m not wrong). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metatron's_Cube" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

It´s basically sacred geometry.
Then I started to dig and dig, and I found references and connections to alchemy. I found the Tabula Esmeralda of Hermes Trismegistus and the flower of life (again geometric stuff) and the seed of life (the one in the back). The more you dig, the more you find. I've always been interested in mysteries and strange things. Alchemy is one of them. And screw harry potter, that thing is just a superficial thing for kids.

The only thing I invented is the symbol of my avatar. But it´s the overlapping of the 3 basic ingredients of alchemy: salt, sulfur and mercury.
Alchemy is ancient, belongs to many cultures. That´s why the mix.

Astrology, alchemy, "magic", religion, sacred geometry etc etc are part of a big puzzle. Latin language was used as today we use english, so when people had to communicate to each other between different cultures and languages, the latin texts was the way. Vatican City official language is latin ahah :)

Hello Lorenzo,

It will be great to have some of the symbols 3D printed as addon (ornament, pendant or paperweight)

I try to do my best
remember that I have to manage the campaign from Sweden and it will be already difficult to sign decks :( (read triple shipping) producer>distributor>me>you
In many cases they have to cross the ocean twice.. But I´m trying to figure out how to make nice things for the backers anyway :)

Hum... I have forgotten the shipping problem...
In that case, the idea you had with Requiem ("addon" outside the KS campain with society6) is a good solution.

Requiem is a very intimidating deck with its bits of gore and blood red background. With Heretic I get a much more mystical feel, and the brighter faces have a nice feel. Really like them both if I had to live with one day to day it'd probably be Heretic.

I perfectly understand: tastes. Chocolate or Vanilla? or both? It´s about tastes.

During these days I'm writing down a few ideas for the campaign. Today or tomorrow I will get the prototypes. I did 2 backs but they are Heretic´s first version: Different I might say, but with the same courts and suites, and backside.
I anticipate an Idea:
- Heretic Lux
- Heretic Noctis (aaaaaah it´s back!!!) ahah

and probably the noctis will be very limited I think... dont know yet. Need to work on it, costs and prices, etc etc
I keep you posted :)

Very few decks (if any) have completely symmetric number cards, so don't worry about that. The fact that the pip placement actually mean something more than makes up for the asymmetry :)

Heresy is breaking the rules as I noted before (not just the deck), so I don't expect them to be enforced, rather limits tested, perhaps?

Oh, it is his wish to reach out to everyone who wants something truly new and unique. You have only seen the reveal after a quick tease. Wait until he's showing off all of the cards. Just like with Requiem, this deck is complete and only needs polishing to make it to the printer - and funding, of course. So, you are ready to contribute towards that funding goal? You and 1500 of your friends would be great, the more the merrier!

Just noticed the pattern on the background. Also, I really like the sun and moon symbols on the corner, even if it makes the face cards one way, and the unique placement of the pips. I'm liking this deck more and more with each card reveal. :)

I love all these pieces of ancient arcane parchment the cards are presented on. Will they be available as a booklets or add-on of some kind?
