Great look! I very much like the Bikes in this series and that's where my money's going. That black is killer!

This deck I would not have called "Obsidian" but "Onyx" ... That's just my opinion;)

I suspect that the name was chosen because of the look of the word in the design as much as the colour it represents.

Earlier in the thread Randy describes why "Scarlet" was used rather than the more logical "Ruby" in a similar way.

(Though "Garnet" would probably have satisfied both lol)

Yep, a short word like ONYX just didn't look good with the rest of the design. I always put the graphics first in the pecking order.

I just posted the Obsidian KS reveal Update, including some more Obsidian Face Cards.

Thanks, Randy

Hello all. I just joined the forum, but, have been a long time lurker. Mike R convinced me to join finally from Kickstarter. I love this project and was looking to see if anybody was looking to drop from the "Rare brick" pledge level? Please let me know if so as I do not have the originals and would love to have a set. Thanks for the read!

I can't recall if this was posted elsewhere, but will the Obsidian decks be available as Add-Ons, or will we have to abandon our current pledge levels and hope to grab another. I'd hate to let go of the early-bird pricing I've gotten thus far....

yes.... err no.... errr... yes-no? err... no-yes??? maybe?

as its written by the people running the project we won't need to change our pledge levels and yet somehow they are going to track the number of ppl interested in buying the decks.... I'm thinking it'll be handled via magic pixie dust.... but just in case I'D PLAN ON BEING ON KS AT 11:00AM - 12:30 PM eastern time if the lolo is right on with his date/time links...

Randy will likely come by and give us the official word, but it is my understanding that they will be both available as add-ons and as separate pledge tiers. Could be only the former, but I am certain that you don't have to change your pledge selections.

12:30 tomorrow. I got that wrong, also. Thought it was today...

Re: ORNATE Playing Cards: White Edition - LIVE on Kickstarte

Hey guys,

It will be around 12:30 tomorrow. I'll be adding the Project graphics, Pledge Rewards and KS Update during my lunch.

The Update is written more eloquently, but the gist of it is we realized trying to keep a specific limit on the Bicycle Obsidian would be next to impossible!

The Bicycle Obsidians will be the minimum 1,000 UNLESS Backers order more than 1,000 during the project's final days. The Unbranded Obsidian will be the minimum 1,500 UNLESS Backers order more than 1,500 during the project's final days.

So, if Backers order 800 Bicycle Obsidians, 200 will be available at HOPC after all Pledge Rewards have been sent out.

If Backers order 1,200 Bicycle Obsidians, we will only have USPCC print 1,200 Bicycle Obsidians. None for HOPC!

Same idea with the Unbranded Obsidians and the 1,500 number.

Thanks, Randy

What if we back for 2000 Bikes and 400 unbranded will you still make the remaining 1100 unbranded or keep the run at 2500?

@Dukeboy, if it comes down to lopsided numbers like that, I think we would just make it the minimum 2,500 total. It could work that way with the Unbranded. But if it was the opposite and only 400 Bicycle Decks were ordered by Backers we would still need to print 1,000 of the Bicycle Obsidians. USPCC won't allow a run smaller than a 1,000 for Bicycle branded Tucks.

Thanks, Randy

So how much Obsidian stuff did people add on? Loved that the brick boxes were stand-alone add-ons. Not too excited about pack jackets included with single decks, but I probably would have gotten 1 or 2 anyway (added on 3 decks).

One of each and a brick box onto the 8 deck pledge. Problem is that a brick box isn't enough to house all 14 decks lol (but I have a plan...)

With the Obsidian bump this is the most I have ever forked over for a Kickstarter... and I only got 1 of each! I have to be out of the house in 5 days or my wife is going to be on the warpath....

Yep, this one is kicking me in the rump: I now have 3 bricks on order: one Bicycle branded, one unbranded and one Obsidian split. I've got a really nice doghouse overlooking the ocean with TV & stereo. Randy's total went insane the day (and day after) he released those!

holy cow, I've been out of the loop for a bit and it is fantastic to see Randy having such success with this deck. It actually brought a smile to my face. I feel privileged to know Randy and I couldn't be happier for him, unless he hooked up with a supermodel or a Svedeish card manipulator.

When this project started, I missed the rare brick and it took a while for me to decide which I'd want. Also, I was getting torn between all the KS playing card projects that were being launched and had to decide which I would go for. I eventually settled for a set of the four Bicycle decks because although I wanted at least one of each, the Bicycle ones were limited and I figured I should get those first and maybe get the Unbranded set later on BackerKit when I have more room in my budget. Now that the obsidian decks are released, I would like to know if they will be available in BacketKit as well. I assume they would be, since that would make it easier for people to indicate that they've added it on. However, I would just like to confirm that, because I do want them but I have not added extra to my pledge. If they are only available for add on when the campaign is live, I would like to know for certain so I can try to make some magic happen and squeeze that into my budget. Lol! As much as I would like to add it on during the campaign and contribute to reaching the stretch goals, it would really not be possible without shifting a lot of things right now, so I would appreciate knowing if the obsidian decks will be available on BacketKit. :)

Hi Sher143,

Yep, the Obsidian Decks and accessories will be available through BackerKit after the project's funding period is finished. Actually, all of the items in the Add-Ons Chart will be available post-funding via BackerKit. Any of the Pledge Tiers with the Bicycle Sets will NOT be available in BackerKit.

Hey Walrus, I don't think my wife would be too happy if I hooked up with a Swedish Supermodel!! Thanks for being one of my confidants during the design phase!

Also, thank you to everyone for your compliments. I thought that the Obsidians would give the project a good boost, but I never thought it would be this much of a boost! After the very tough Imperial project, the White ORNATES has been like a breath of fresh air.

Thanks, Randy
