I love your work Jackson, but I was disappointed when I went for the "One of everything" reward on your Sherlock deck to find out that you planned to release a rare "Gold Gilded" deck that destroys the value of my initial reward I went for.

Too sneaky for my liking! :) So I'm out of all your future kickstarter releases.

I agree, I think that conversation has been hashed out more than enough and this thread should stay focused on the cards IMO.

Side Note: Not much longer now. Can't wait!

Me too... and after following the drama around projects such as this it seems safe to assume that any 'whole shooting match' donation levels can only include the item that were known to exist at the time the offer was presented. That being said its also safe to assume that any 'fancy deck' can and will be turned into a 'franchise' if demand calls for it. Its the way of the world now.

It's Live! Damn I didn't get the $11 level! Looks like it'll be another stellar project. Funny how the uncut tucks are more expensive than an uncut card sheet. I'm in for 2 of everything right now, and off to the blood & sperm banks in a bit to start my fund. Got til April 10th to make the money. ;)

So, I've been refreshing KS since 1pm. Finally 1:04 it loads for me - 6 pledges - first 5 were $11 for one each of all the decks.
There's no need for this - you have enough interest - why bother to do that?
Creating a special tier like that is discouraging to the point that I'm off this boat - just tired of this crap.
Not even going to bother with the rest of the military releases or anything else. I will have peace of mind not wondering if I'm going to miss some special tier or secret rare release.
Going for a walk and enjoying my day - screw this.

Hold on. Are you saying you're so upset because only 5 people got a great deal?
Or, that you weren't one of them? :?

All hype aside, I thought it was a nice gesture by Jackson... considering the prices. :o
Like you said, he didn't have to do it. And especially not 5 times over.

I am confused by your feelings. :|

Pitching a fit because you didn't get the limited cheap tier? Really? Wow...

I'm unfamiliar with uncut tuck sheets. Does anyone know what the size of the sheet is? Just curious.

Not ecstatic about the LE's, seems like more of a "never open" collectors item. I can understand people who collect like that (up to a certain point), but I don't understand creating products like that. And only selling them with a box, which costs who knows how much? Then there's the price, I have no idea how much custom tucks like that cost, but it does seem excessive.

Oh well, I'll be happy with just some standard editions.

Aside from that early flurry of five there seems to be enough of the LE tiers to go around.

I agree with hikeeba. Sure it would have been cool to be one of the 5 but that's not the point. In fact, I don't know what the point is. Jackson- care to elaborate on this sales technique? FYI- I'm not upset, just curious.

I went to his creator profile and refreshed there, it went from 5 projects created to 6 projects created.

The point is to have a large group of people in the 1st few minutes of the campaign. This raises it's profile in the KS searches and homepage. Big thunderbolt to start it off so you get a big crowd that starts talking about it after they have pledged.

That's the point of early birds in general. 5 of 'em isn't going to do much towards that.

Am I reading this right? For just two of the limited edition decks it is $75?? And the only difference is that middle band?

You'll have much better luck refreshing the kickstarter project owner (for ppl who are multiple project starters)... :D

someone can correct me if i am wrong, but these are the differences i see:

1. The tucks are totally different
2. The limited editions cards come wrapped up
3. They have the centre band around the wrapped up deck
4. The backs of the decks are totally different
5. The ace of spades on the LTD editions and the standard editions seem to be different as well
6. Any matched LTD set starting at the $75 version you also get a collectors black case

This seems to be shown on the kickstarter page.

That seems to be about right, plus they'll be numbered on the box (as opposed to the standard only being numbered on its seal) and the band, which will also be signed. Though I wouldn't say the backs are totally different, they merely have some extra elements added to them.

It's a bargain in my eyes (I am a collector). Great design, fantastic attention to detail, embossing, foil, custom tucks, special and exclusive paper stocks, all in a LE.

Based on most other decks in LE just being limited in number, I'd say that this is a deal. I felt the same way about the the Aurum laser cuts. Some decks are gorgeous decks that are intended to be a showcase of technology and the designer's talent and dream design of the deck. I

can definitely understand you line of thinking though.

i worked it out that including delivery each limited edition deck is £20.00 when you get to the 8 deck set.

taking into consideration, the value of the addons, and deducting them from the total price. Which to me based on the differences from the normal deck to the LTD decks it is worth it.

$210 dollars for the whole set
£12 dollars for each collectors box = $24.00
$14 dollars for each of the standard decks = $56.00

$210 - ($24 + $56) = $130 / 4 = $32.50 per deck = £19.41 per deck which is pretty good value considering the differences.

There is absolutely no rhyme or reason why I do the special 5 tiers.

Why not, its fun and it makes 5 absolutely random people pumped up. Thats it. Period. If I gave decks away free people would be pissed that I didn't give 2 away free.

The Great thing about the LTD decks is that they will be wrapped similar to the decks of the late 1890s. You will be able to slide the belly band off as well as the vellum and even open the deck if you want. I hate cellophane and feel it destroys the vintage look and feel I'm going for so I don't put it on them. The Standard editions WILL be wrapped in cello.

I like that, that makes me more inclined to getting them. Though if there's no way of knowing they haven't been opened (I may have understood you wrong), then I'm sure some other folks will have a problem with that.

I think some of the stuff that I'm striving to bring to the table that is rarely seen like the matching numbers on the both the tuck and belly band is a good step forward.

This is an LE I can get behind. It goes beyond the simple and abhorrent "tuck swap - premium price" model. New deck, new fancy tuck all wrapped up in a fancy package. I definitely like that. A standard was set with the black reserve note. Only way to go from there is up.

This is what I like to see more of with LE decks. That effort and care has been invested to make it stand out as a truly unique and prized possession. Lotrek is doing a fantastic job with the signature series and it's just to die for.

Nice work JR.
