I agree. Even if I wanted to I couldn't get out another deck that fast though. Since I publish books I have a tight schedule for when those have to be out.

I pledged for both decks BUT if both decks were the airplane then I would've pledged for just the blue one. It's good that the red deck is an airship. I'm not much on same deck, different color. It's has to be something different to set them apart than just the color.

Good to know. You might be interested in seeing the new Airship Aces as they roll out then. Today I put up the airship ace of clubs! (and explained why the USS Los Angeles is vertical on the ace of hearts.)

I agree with Bikefanatic, same deck different color back isn't usually enough to get me to pledge for both. I like the fact that you have different Aces and different designs on the backs, so I have pledged for both decks here. Will the coloring on the face cards be different too? The ones shown were predominantly blue, and fit in well with the blue airplane deck, but don't seem to fit the zeppelin deck as much. Maybe recolor them so they are red, grey, and black on the zep deck?

Those Aces look great. I assume the Airplane Aces will have....airplanes on them.

Yes, you have assumed correctly. Those are already up on the page. You can see them right now!

Really like the thought you've put into this, and your design style. I went in on the 4-deck Flight Log and will add decks/coins from there. The whole package just looks rock solid.

Thank you Widdee.

I must say the flight log book is genious! Looks great, too- I know it's early but it's a shoe-in for best deck packeging for my 2014 vote!

Thanks Vasta. My hope is always that the final product will look even better than what everyone is expecting. So far I've really been able to live up to that with my other projects. Today I added a sticker that will come with each Logbook. If you're sign up to get one you can vote on which one gets produced. If you're not signed up, you can still vote!

Hi PRM19xx,

Did you see my question about face card colors above? I hope you'll consider that.

Second, on the logbook interior, is that design definite or still being worked on? Personally, I'd love to see an old-fashioned style world map (similar to what you have but pulled back farther to show the whole world), with the routes of famous flights on it. Trace the flights of Amelia Earhart, Charles Lindbergh, some of the zeppelin routes, Kitty Hawk North Carolina, and more! All the famous firsts and flights laid out on 1 map when you open it up! I think that would look phenomenal, and really drive home the celebration of flight theme.

You're right! I did miss that comment. Sorry!
1) Face card colors matching backs. Yes that is something I'm aware of. And it would be kind an easy tweak to go through and add more red here and there. I think there will always be a little more blue than red. But yes, that is a valid point and I will keep it in mind!

2) The Logbook Interior. It is not definite, but mostly because the insides might get some new content. For example I've mentioned a companion art booklet. That booklet would latch onto the left flap somehow. I love your idea though. I worry about how much of it would show through. But if the design stays the way it is now, yeah that would be a great idea. I'm going to think about that a little bit. So many possibilities there!

1) What if you simply reversed the red and blue colors on the figures for the red deck? Instantly you'd have mostly red with a few blue highlights here and there. Keep the colors as they are for the blue deck.

2) If you have an art booklet instead of the note on the left-hand side, what you could do is have a reinforced slit in the paper lining of the logbook, and the back flap of the art book fits into that slit. Or glue/sew on a pocket that does the same thing. Or have 2 more of the black straps that hold the back cover or the book itself. Makes the book removable, and under it is all map.

Here's a quick sample of my suggestion for the color flipped red deck kings:

And, for comparison, the original blue deck kings:

Yup, you're right, that totally works. I'll probably do it tomorrow. But I'll leave the backgrounds the same. I'd like them to be the same on both decks. I think by Monday I should have both your ideas up!

Nice color change courts for each deck. Simple and good enough (unless you still want to customize it more).

Alright I "officially" changed the color scheme on those Kings and uploaded them to the project page. Anymore awesome ideas, send 'em my way.

Ha ha, You win some you lose some.
Why don't you like the new color scheme for the Airship Deck? Just personal preference?

The red coats just seem to in my face, I know it is the inverse of the blue deck, so it makes since as a set. But I was just in for the airships (I love those babies) and this just seems to be to hard to look at for myself. I read you had several that liked the new colors here and I'm sure you will do fine. You have a chance with how the other 2 aces turn out but there is so much on KS right now and I only have the one job. I was just stretched to thin.

Alright, makes sense. Thanks for explaining! You know they always say you're done designing something when everything you do starts making it worse.
I'll keep my fingers crossed that you come back when the other aces come out. It's a challenge!

I love it PRM19XX! I hope you win more than you lose with the idea. If people really like the blue courts better they are still in the blue deck. For people getting both decks it adds to the diversity, which I appreciate, and for others it gives then 2 choices of court color schemes instead of one... maybe some people that didn't like blue will go for the red.

Ok, here's the other big change that was suggested here. I've added the historic flight routes to the interior of the Flight Logbook.
I like how it looks!

It's a MUST you keep the deck how it is. For those of us who pledged for both decks, we appreciate the difference in the court cards. It's best to pledge to two different decks instead of one deck with different color tucks/backs. Bicycle Tinker/Rusty Tinker and the upcoming Origins deck pulled this off great. Dawn Of Flight will follow.

For the Flight Logbook, for the cover, the airplane pic is at top and the airship pic is at the bottom but the decks inside shows the airship deck at top with airplane deck at bottom. Just something that caught my eye though it doesn't matter how you put the two decks in.

Thanks, that's good to hear. There's also different Jokers and Aces in each deck, but I'm glad this new difference will set them apart even more.

So I just uploaded this new picture some mockups to the project page. Right now I'm working on an art booklet that would go inside the Flight Logbook. The booklet will mostly go over the aviators and machines featured in the deck but I'm open to hearing what else should go in it! You can see the cover for the booklet to the right of the Airship Deck. And I promise you, everything in that picture was just laying around my house. Even the air race flags!
