Hello boys and girls! Due to the downtime in the previous month, the contest was regrettably interrupted. But I welcome you once again to the 2nd annual Best Decks Contest! If you haven't been here before, this year it is slightly different, it isn't simply a voting for the best decks, we added in a contest element! But please read the rules carefully before taking part ! All previous voters kindly post your votes again, all records were regrettably lost!

Rules:
1) DO NOT POST YOUR VOTES ON THIS PAGE. Kindly PM both myself (Volantangel) and Mike Ratledge the votes.
2) Decks must be released in 2013, KS Decks must be delivered in 2013 to be considered (a guide to this is Bohemia is the first, Imperial as the last). Decks that are not released in 2013 will be disqualified.
3) The administrators reserve all rights to revoke anyone's participation rights should any dishonest activities be suspected.
4) The sponsors have all rights to change any prizes without prior notice
5) Everyone is allowed to participate in the voting, including designers themselves are allowed to vote on their own decks. Administrators have already cast their votes prior to the contest to ensure fairness.
6) The administrators reserve all rights to amend any of the above rules without prior notice.
7) Voting will end on the 21st Feb, Fri. 2359hours PST.


Point System
As mentioned previously, this is now a contest, and the point system is as follows:

For each category:
1st place ➙ 5 Points
2nd place ➙ 3 Points
3rd place ➙ 1 Point

NEW RULE: There must be more than one vote (meaning someone other than yourself voted on the same item) for it to be eligible for points. (ie. 2 votes and above will be eligible)

Points for all categories will be tallied up for all participants to determine the final placings. Should the points be tied for any place, the participant that submits earlier will be ranked higher.

Re: it being a contest now - it seems, as a contest, there is now a strategy to try to guess what other people will name as the best, as opposed to just voting for your actual favorite.
Also, if someone actually votes for their favorites, "winning" is equated to being the biggest front-runner in the herd. Just sayin'.....

There are several categories that have quite polarized votes, resulting in quite a few one offs getting points. ORRR there are some categories that have such diversed votes that one offs are getting points as well.

Another way around it would be to award a score equal to the number of votes for your nomination.
So if only you voted for it - 0pts. if 3 other people voted for it - 3pts. and so on. Arguably fairer (as your score depends on how many agree not the position of the deck in the rankings), avoids the low ties and it's scalable too.
(Trickier to calculate, but you could set up a spreadsheet to crunch numbers for you)

Perhaps to radical a move half way through this year's compo though!

I was actually thinking about having that system as well, yea but thats too radical a change too late into the competition.
