Re: Blue Fontaines Teaser
One of the worst decks produced in 2013. Nothing custom except for the backs that were just yet another Jerry Nugget rip off. Messed up tuck boxes and boring, lazy design on the AoS and jokers. "Simple, elegant, minimalistic design" is just code for "Uh, I'm not creative enough to actually design anything."
Zach and his insufferable, immature antics on T11 appeales to the teen fanbase that T11 caters to and he was able to whip up these impressionable young fanboys into a buying frenzy with the typical T11 teasers/hype. I challenge you to put up a Fontaine deck next to any of the Fed52 decks, or any Uusi decks, or the Seasons decks and tell me if there's any comparison. Just take off your fanboy-colored glasses for once! Oh, by the way, the Green Fontaines, Purple Fontaines, and Black Fontaines are right around the corner....

Some folks like them. I would rather just buy a NOC deck. I just posted this so that folks who are interested can see that they will be on Kickstarter.

Well, in case you havent realised yet, but not every single deck pumped out by USPCC has to be 100% custom and have completely amazing artwork.sinjin7 wrote:One of the worst decks produced in 2013. Re: Blue Fontaines Teaser
Well of course it doesnt have to be, i can print a white on white deck (Malevich anyone?) and call it abstract art (no really go google "malevich white on white"), but would you believe me?JokerzGamez wrote: Well, in case you havent realised yet, but not every single deck pumped out by USPCC has to be 100% custom and have completely amazing artwork.
All we are saying is that the "design" is lazy and is an attempt to cash in on his "fame" within the community. Plus i just dont get why people would like this deck, even the fultons casinos had more customization than this.

Re: Blue Fontaines Teaser
That's true, but those decks without 100% customization and amazing artwork should only sell for $2-$4 per deck, not $12. Please don't get tricked or fooled into thinking that a very mediocre deck is anything more than what it is and get ripped off. My issue is that Zach is exploiting a young and impressionable fanbase to induce them to pay Mercedes Benz prices for a used Honda Civic. But that shouldn't surprise anyone since Zach works for T11...JokerzGamez wrote:Well, in case you havent realised yet, but not every single deck pumped out by USPCC has to be 100% custom and have completely amazing artwork.

These are the words of a collector. Re: Blue Fontaines Teaser
I get that beauty is in the eyes of the beholder and that some people actually like the Fontaines (you and Mirror) and some people don't, and some people recognize the exploitive nature of this mediocre (imo) deck. What I don't get is how is this deck is specifically designed for flourishers and magicians, but not collectors? Then that is saying every crappy JN knockoff is designed for flourishers and magicians. The fact of the matter is, the only way this deck is good for flourishers is the thin borders, that's it. That alone isn't enough to make it a particularly essential deck for flourishers. In all other ways this is a standard USPCC deck with standard USPCC stock. Most self-respecting magicians I know aren't likely to use another magician's signature deck, much less a very young kid's deck, in their routines.JokerzGamez wrote:These are the words of a collector. Re: Blue Fontaines Teaser
a magician would rather use a standard Bicycle 808 rider back than a Fontaine deck.
sinjin7 you are trying to convince fanboys of the opposite of what they have been brainwashed with.
Its rather more the fanboy flourishers who will buy Fontaine decks - i havent seen so far any of the bigger known cardistry guys using them.
anyways as posted before save your pennies and get any other USPCC deck (like the NOC decks if you prefer simple stuff)
but don´t spend your (or in many cases your parents) hard earned cash on those Fontaine decks.

Re: Blue Fontaines Teaser
Comparing NOCs to Fountaine, I have to say that Fountaine handles much better. As an amateur magician, I really like to use then, the hold together pretty well!
But if that fact alone justify the $11 value, well, I don't think so!

Re: Blue Fontaines Teaser
It's only $8 if you buy a blue NOC and a white sharpie
On KS it's $12, don't know where you got 8 from.

Re: Blue Fontaines Teaser
Even if you're foolish enough to buy a dozen of these mediocre decks, its still over $8 per deck. At $12 per deck, I would say this deck provides the least bang for your buck out of any deck out there. Given that some of his add-ons involve D$D products, you know this whole KS project is just one big money grab...

It must be exhausting to complain about new releases like you do. You don't like a deck, don't buy it, buddy. You could say that in any thread on any forum, because there's always someone who complains. A forum is a place to discuss and express one's opinions. Complaining about someone else's opinion is more futile than any other complaints.Seb wrote:It must be exhausting to complain about new releases like you do. Re: Blue Fontaines Teaser
I agree but I feel it makes no sense to always complain about "evil" companies. I like a deck, I buy it. I don't like a deck, I don't buy it. T11, E, D&D, ect, offer a product which may or may not interest you. Acting like a cynical teenager seems very useless. I have my own credit card, I have a few grey hair, I'm pretty comfortable financially and if I like something, I buy it. What I don't do is bitch about the price of a product. They want to make money, it's sometimes pretty annoying but that's life.MagikFingerz wrote:You could say that in any thread on any forum, because there's always someone who complains. Re: Blue Fontaines Teaser
I think there's plenty of prices to criticize, like D$D selling "carbon" Porper clips (basically a $30 Porper with some stickers of carbon fiber pattern) for $95, while CARC sells ACTUAL carbon fiber clips for merely $5 more. The prices of most products, at least in our collection community, can be compared to similar ones and their validity judged, and I think they should.Seb wrote:I agree but I feel it makes no sense to always complain about "evil" companies. It's usually not that someone wants to make money that's annoying, but the increased focus on it that bothers people. It's like selling hyped up quarters for a dollar each.

Re: Blue Fontaines Teaser
Its been over 20 years since I was a cynical teen. Now I'm a cynical attorney. The majority of my complaints aren't about the price, but about the marketing practices of these companies/individuals. The irony of you complaining about my complaining apparently is lost on you. Everyone is free to purchase whatever they want, obviously. What you need to realize is that everyone is also free to express their opinions as well. If your feelings are hurt because I crack on D$D or T11 or anything else you like, then feel free to defend them. I welcome the exchange. If you are that put-off by my posts, then just ignore them, buddy.Seb wrote:[Acting like a cynical teenager seems very useless. If you see something you feel isn't right, but all you do is shrug your shoulders and just say, "They're a business, businesses make money, that's life," that amounts to a tacit approval of their practices and you enable them to continue their practices. That, imo, is very useless. Maybe, just maybe, if you complain about something that may not be right on a public forum that these companies/individuals pay attention to, you might be able to affect change for the better.
"When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change." Does this sound familiar?
