Re: Quality "Bee" decks - Coming Soon
I'm getting tired of all these JN or Wynn imitators. The back design on these puts me to sleep....

Same here. Pimped out box to make them sell better, minimal amount of work put in on the actual cards. Obvious moneygrab.alric wrote:I'm getting tired of all these JN or Wynn imitators. The back design on these puts me to sleep....

Not sure why not name the company but since Kete has it I'm going with Coterie!

Re: Quality "Bee" decks - Coming Soon
Hey guys,
A quick clarification here, this deck is not from T11, D&D or Coterie. I thought it's pretty clear that none of us would associate 1902 with cardistry?
Anyway, this deck is from the same maker of Bicycle Faith and Bicycle Lancer Ex, in fact there is one more Bee deck on the way which is called "Miracle" deck. All I can say is that the release of Coterie Bee had too much impact on Chinese playing cards collectors.

I love minimal designs like this, I'm really looking forward to these as long as they're not extremely limited (=expensive).alric wrote:I'm getting tired of all these JN or Wynn imitators. The back design on these puts me to sleep....

Re: Quality "Bee" decks - Coming Soon
Decks with minimal designs are great....if they're well executed. Because of their simplicity, you really have to get what little you have put into the design really spot on. Otherwise, it just looks like incomplete, or even worse, lazy design. I'm not sure the word "Quality" in flowing script on each end of the back design evokes any kind of elegance, innovation, or even effort. I'm also not getting how this is a Bee deck, other than just the tuck box saying its so.
Re: Quality "Bee" decks - Coming Soon
You know what I'm actually a bit excited for this deck...I love Bee's and the simple designs are actually something I appreciate when done right. I'll be keeping my eyes on this project.

Re: Quality "Bee" decks - Coming Soon
Looks like a collectors deck - box looks good.... cards not so much
EDIT: Not having a go at CBJ, I'm pretty much exactly the same - just nice sealed boxes with cellophane. In this case I quite like the vintage look of the front of the box.... but that's about it.

Indeed, the only thing really nice about this is the vintage tuckboxGareth wrote:Looks like a collectors deck - box looks good.... cards not so much

Re: Quality "Bee" decks - Coming Soon
Black decks were a test run. Highly unlikely to be available on the market. I think it even says Test Deck on the tuck.

USPCC doesn't do teat runs like that. Will they print a sample deck, that is not the same quality? Yes but they aren't running a couple of hundred decks.
Thanks!

Re: Quality "Bee" decks - Coming Soon
A little update for those who like these Bee decks like myself.
So we initially had the red deck
Of course there was the mandatory limited edition ultra rare blah blah which is the only one I do not have at this time because it goes for hundreds on ebay (288 made)
Then you have the Miracle Bee blue deck and Black decks
All of these decks made by the USPCC
Then the oddball Quality brown deck through EPCC I do believe but not confirmed
Recently CBJ spotted a blue deck on a chinese website but we could not tell really what it was. Finally spotted one on ebay and got it
The story on this deck according to the seller is that USPCC made a printing mistake when doing this deck and it has 2 Queen of Hearts with the queen of diamonds missing. Supposedly all decks were destroyed except 288 of them and he is selling them at $14.5 a pop plus shipping. The reprint deck will have a reprint seal to tell them apart. I picked one up and here s the ebay link if any of you might be interested
