Figured I would drop by to clear something up. Yes, I traded with Jackson and have a lot of his Federal52 decks. I don't plan to sell them on eBay for a ridiculous markup. I will admit I did have a listing on Aethercards to sell 4 of his decks, but that was only to try to raise money for a club at my university, but very quickly realized that was not a proper thing to do and immediately removed the Federal52 decks from my listing. I can see how this would've been highly questionable and I immediately removed the Federal52 items. I am well aware I could sell my lot of Jackson's cards for a large profit, but I will not be doing so. I admire the cards for the art that they are and will be keeping every single deck I have received. I am not a wholesaler nor do I claim to be one- I am simply a collector who greatly admires and appreciates Jackson's cards. Thanks.
Hi FOY13, thanks for coming to clear things up. I want to state up front that I have no beef with you whatsoever - I believe it's your prerogative to sell whatever decks you own at whatever price you set. It's a separate issue from what my thoughts are about Jackson's post-Kickstarter actions.

I did notice that you removed the Fed 52 decks from your listing but I figured it was because you already found a buyer for them. I don't think that selling your Fed 52 decks is a dodgy thing to do at all, especially since you stated that you're doing so to raise money for a good cause. I apologise if I've held you back from doing so.

I just don't want anyone thinking poorly of me or Jackson. He had no idea I was going to list those decks, and I didn't list them for profit for myself- it was going to be money going to the history club at my university. Regardless, I quickly decided to remove the Federal52 items and won't be selling any of the ones I have, and I cannot stress that enough. As far as the Vortex decks, I think I have a brick and a half left.

I'd also like to add that when Jackson and I worked out the trade, I was simply trying to help him start his own personal collection while picking up some of his awesome Federal52 cards. I had no idea they would be reselling for so much later on.

I do believe 'stinking' is the correct adjective for that particular deck. ;)

New update (http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/172 ... sts/660979):
Well enough of you have asked for it, and I think that the project needs a good jolt of energy! So I'm happy to announce that I am releasing the Hound of the Baskervilles deck NOW!

I like that tuck and the colors used on the backs. I wonder if the Red is snappy. I am not ordering cards right now but I would back these mainly for the tucks. Maybe I'll wait till they go up to fifty bucks a pop to make them more available to collectors.

I'm not going to pour through this thread, so can anyone tell me how many he's printing of each of these decks?
I thought I remembered him saying he wouldn't be doing the same as he did with original Fed 52s, and that these would be open editions.
Not only available through Kickstarter or his site.

But I sometimes get confused :?

Help!

Holmes - ?
Moriarty - ?
Baker St. - ?
Baker St. LE - 1,000
Hound OTB - ?

He does not know the amount as of yet other than the LE. He said he is going to be printing some for some museum or something. There will be more of these ones than the federal series I think but he also confirmed after the first run he wouldn't re-print, only question is how many of each.

Upgraded my pledge already.
Even though his price are high, but I like the way that he produces all decks in series together.
That save up shipping cost.

His minimum has to be.

Holmes - 2,500
Moriarty - 2,500
Baker St. - 1,500
Baker St. LE - 1,000
Hound OTB - 2,500

Baker St. & Baker St. LE are the same deck. So basically, he is getting 10,000 decks.

You can always order more decks, but there is a + or - of %10. So with a minimum of 2,500 he could get 2,250 to 2,750 decks.

"Typical lead time is currently 5-6 weeks from when you approve your artwork and sign your contract. Shipping estimates will vary on a case by case basis. Orders are subject to 10% over / under run. 10% less than ordered quantity will be considered order fulfillment and 10% over will be included in your order at quoted deck price per deck.
Shipping dates can be estimated but never guaranteed. Shipping charges are included in the deck price."

Should be noted that the Baker St. LE - 1,000 is a maximum whilst the others are minimum numbers.

10% is one hell of a margin of error... If I go to a vendor and order 10 decks of cards and receive 9, not acceptable - no that damned well isn't order fullfilled!

Do they print 10% above order expecting between 10%-20% wastage? You're almost obliged to order at least 10% over what you need to guarnatee fulfullment - and this will have to push up the minimum target we look for...

+/- 10% is standard in the printing industry. I think most printers go far in excess tho, as I don't recall ever receiving a print order BELOW my original requirement. My actuals were usually +5% ish.

Me too! It took me a while (trying to save money for Christmas shopping) but I couldn't resist any longer. That Hound deck put me over the edge so I'm in for all 4 now.

It's not every day an amazing KS project comes along! And I know he's on his way to the USPCC but I definately don't think Jackson needs KS anymore for any of his future decks.

montecarlojoe - Baker St & Baker St LE are the same deck just different tuck box. It just so happens he is doing 1500 of one and 1000 of the other.

Other minimums are 1000 tuck boxes of the same kind, 1000 minimum custom seals, 5000 decks of Bee stock, 25 uncut sheets, 144 stripper decks and 15,000 for gilded gold or silver edges with conditions "Gilded edges does have a current minimum of 15,000 decks – decks must have a border, no metallic inks and only 4 colors" I've looked at a lot of cards and back in the old days is seems it was common for a first run to be gilded, but 15,000 is way out of reach for most if not all new decks...

I agree 10% is big difference, you would think they would have a laser counter or something or is there some fat guy on the floor who makes the call and says, "Ok, that looks like enough" The way they explained it to me, they do waste the first 500 sheets just to get the colors right...

I don't think Jackson set a min or a max on the regular Baker St. The only confirmed value is 1000 of the Baker St Le.

Correct... All three decks are limited in that they will never be reprinted as I recall, but specific maximum quantities were "what he needs", and I'm sure he needs a bunch for the traveling exhibition gig. I think he said 3000 on the Moriarty and Holmes decks, but I definitely could be blowing smoke out my tailpipe.

He didn't but USPCC has a minimum of 2,500 decks per print run. 1,000 of them are going for the LE decks, leaving at least 1,500 of the standard Baker St decks. I'm sure there will be likley more than this, but that is the minimum that could be run, unless USPCC gave special permission for a lower minimum order.

Current count by pledges (not including add ons)
Baker Street - 1241
Moriarty - 1183
Holmes - 1197

Not bothering with counting the Hounds deck since a lot of people are probably locked in at a specific pledge and are adding on for that deck.

My guess would be, that there will be more decks printed than the pre-ordered decks via Kickstarter.
More like 4-5000 of the unlimited decks keeping in mind the expo of Sherlock Holmes where the decks will be also sold for sure. -
Just wait for the KS to end and then you will get your final numbers for sure! ;)

He's always posted the total print run, including cut sheets for both previous projects (as I recall including the shipping weight)...

Im going to treat this campaign just like I did the Fed I will order enough to fulfill my kickstarter orders then plus 10% to account for the over under from USPC. Then I will order a few thousand extra for my self and to sell on my website after the campaign. I haven't heard much from the Sherlock exhibit, and I've learned not to count on anything until the ink has dried so that may not even end up happening.

The only thing that is written in stone is the 1000 run on LE Baker Street Editions. Ive only made around 890 available on kickstarter. I'll save the rest for me to give to friends and family. Once I place my final order post KS that will be it and these decks will not be printed again. They will then ALL receive the limited edition numbered seals on them to make it official. Hope that answered most everybodies questions.

just FYI, USPC is ALWAYS changing the rules and such only go by what current policies are from them not what the threads say i've noticed more times than not that info that is being reported is inaccurate.

100% true. I think the problem is there are people who have never printed a deck who like to quote USPCC just because they answered an email of theirs. Unless you produce on a regular basis, you're really not going to get an up to date and accurate set of rules or prices. Coming from experience, they will change their prices and regulations up until your deck is 100% paid for and shipped. Until then, things can and will always change.

2 examples:
- The 10% over or under. On Necronomicon I ordered 1,500 Limited Foil decks, they sent 1,000 so I lost 500. Definitely not a 10% under.
- Printing Plates. On The Grid we had contracted them to release the printing plates they use for production runs and USPCC decided to change the rule while the deck was printing and not allow us to purchase them. Even though we had already signed contracts stating they would.

They broke their contract with you... at least twice?

That's appalling.

I used to run a print shop (admittedly, much, much smaller). Breaking a deal that has already been signed off on... that's... words fail me. Wow.

Indeed. We could've fought it to receive the plates but since it was our first production and intended for a long haul, we bit the bullet. It was actually one of 2 problems we ran into with The Grid with USPCC but we dealt with it.

Overall, every price point and feature is on a person by person basis. USPCC has a pricing and feature listing but believe me, that's just an outline if anything.
