I am now pretty sure that my copy of the deck is/was NOT the Piatnik edition, but an earlier one.
I seem to recall corresponding briefly with Ms. Nicod, and my copy might even be signed by her (I don't recall for sure).
Aye. I thought it was her son I was communicating with, but it seems to be her live-in mate, I have to assume. She doesn't do much these days, nearing her 80th birthday. I believe it's likely the ones I have on the way, they are in a single box with a red or blue dot on one side, maybe? (signifying which color backs you have)
I found her 2014 calendar online in Kindle format, but only in Italian, I'm pretty certain that Rodolfo does the text and she just does the artwork these days. I don't speak Italian, so some of the stuff I see will have to be fed to
http://translate.google.com so I can figure out what was said.
When I asked about getting them signed, he stated that she was likely up for doing "a couple", we'll see when they arrive. He didn't say, but I suspect she is in poor health.
There's a message about getting a deck or two here:
http://unitedcardists.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=2542. I am only getting a dozen for sale now, and another dozen for trades later on. I have ONE each of the original (Black & White) decks and the Piatnik # 1277 sealed tin available, but I didn't get the latter shipped due to the cost. If anyone wants it, it's 250 Euro plus shipping, and is the last one known for sale. Believe me, I have tried every way I know including looking in danmark, austria (where they were made), italy, japan, australia, etc. There just aren't any more of Piatnik # 1277 available for sale anywhere as far as I can tell.
