New Photobucket problems

Unread post by RSLancastr »

Photobucket seems to have been screwed up recently.

Before (whatever happened), When I would upload a new image, a status bar would go from 0% to 100%, then the words "1 out of 1 uploads were successful" (or something very like that), then some buttons would appear, one of which was something like "View Recent Uploads", which I would click, and be shown thumbnails of the the last few images I had uploaded.

AFTER (whatever happened), when I upload a new image, the status bar goes from 0 - 100%, and then goes away. No "uploaded successfully" message. No "unsuccsessfully" message either. No "View Recent Uploads" button. If I go up to the menu across the top of the page and select Library/ViewRecentUploads, no images are shown. However, I do see teeny-tiny thumbnails of the recently-uploaded images on other screens.

Anyone having similar problems with PhotoBucket of late?

Well, I guess that nobody else is having this issue.

I finally got around to emailing support@Photobucket.com about this issue.

I got an automated "a ticket has been opened"-type response, which contained a request for further information which I did not notice until I got a follow-up automated email today, saying that if I did not follow the instructions in the "a ticket has been opened"-type email, they would assume that the problem was solved and close the ticket.

I went bac and re-read the earlier email, followed a link within it which opened a web page which gathered some info from my PC (OS & version, browser & version, Flash version, Allow Cookies setting), etcetera and then I clicked on its "submit information" button, which generated and sent an email to support@Photobucket.com with the gathered information and my ticket number. Supposedly, an actual human being in the support department will review the information and get back to me.

I will report any further progress here.

I got a reply from an actual person in Photobucket's Support group. He had reviewed the information in the automated packet which had been sent when I clicked on the "Send Information" link in the previous email, and he recommended that I download and install the latest Flash Player (which is used in the process whereby images are uploaded to Photobucket).

I was loathe to do so, as installing new versions of Flash Player has caused me headaches in the past.

I decided to try uploading images to {hotobucket one more time before resorting to updating Flash, and the upload WORKED!!

However, it would not show ne the IMG link used to display the image on forums!

I wondered why the upload wassuddenly working, when a possible explanation occured to me:

I had recently cleared some space on my C: drive, going from around 100meg of available disk space to more than a gig's worth.

It seemed possible that the Photobucket upload process required more available space than the 100meg I'd had, and so had failed (without giving me an error message as to WHY it had failed), but the more than a gig of free space I had now was enough! But why the problem giving me the IMG link?

I emailed the support guy to tell him of my progress and my new issue.

He replied, saying that the "Show links" process DEFINITELY used Flash, and he urged me again to download and install the latest Flash and try again.

I did so, and got the link! (thus my posting images today in the "Look what I added to my collection!" thread/topic!
