Re: [KS] The Méliés Playing Cards
Ridiculous international shipping, I'll wait and get them cheaper post-KS if it even gets funded.

Re: [KS] The Méliés Playing Cards
I never understand why such a big hash is made of Int shipping. It's easy:
- Buy/use some old/cheap decks.
- Pack them.
- Weigh & measure the package.
- Go to the USPS site and run the shipping wizard to various places.
- Use the average price and take off the maximum possible shipping within the continental US (as that is already included in the price if US gets free shipping, as is the cost of packaging).
Repeat for different pledge levels
Repeat for Add Ons
Simple.
Prices might change, but that's not an excuse not to do the work to be organised.
They have also said that further customisation will be a stretch goal. But I, like others, probably won't pledge untill those have been designed and there is a committment to include them in the deck. The idea is nice, but I dont really want to pledge for a nice back and ho hum Ace and jokers.

Melies Deck needs your support :)
I usually don't do this but 17 hrs to go and 400$ short! This deck looks awesome in my opinion. Have a look and a go at it if you guys are interested! http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/658 ... ying-cards" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Re: Melies Deck needs your support :)
I cancelled my pledge because the creator has yet to show us a *single* finished court card design.
SERIOUSLY???
SERIOUSLY???
Keep it Sizzlin'!
Re: Melies Deck needs your support :)
Well that doesn't bother me one bit Don't you love surprises? I love the back, the box, the concept...

Re: Melies Deck needs your support :)
Exactly my view. I would have loved to go in, but at the very end of the campaign, there's a single rough sketch of a single king.th4mo wrote:I cancelled my pledge because the creator has yet to show us a *single* finished court card design.

Now, it looks lovely and if completed this would be an absolutely awesome deck.
However, I rate the chances of completion to be zero. If I'm wrong, I'll grab a couple in the secondary market, but unfortunately I sincerely doubt it will ever complete.
I think the best thing to happen at this point (he's at 96% with 16 hours to go as I write this) is for the KS to fail, for them to get all or at least most of the final artwork together, and then re-launch.
Re: Melies Deck needs your support :)
I see your point but I personnally don't really mind if we don't get to see a court card. It's always ideal, yes, but I think the concept of the deck itself should be able to sell As I said, I love the backs, the few faces we've seen and the concept and that's enough for me. I'm a huge supporter of many, many KS decks and, like I said, I like surprises Too bad they probably won't make it...Casual Pixels wrote:Exactly my view. Re: Melies Deck needs your support :)
He has had a month or so to complete the court cards, not a single finalised card. 12 court cards, give it a month each, maybe you will see your deck come in more than a year later. Honestly that isnt going to happen. After funding, chances are he will revert to his standard courts maybe with small tweaks, that is one surprise i wouldnt want to have.Seb wrote:Oh well, nice to see that you're willing to have a discussion about this.volantangel wrote:NO.Seb wrote:Well that doesn't bother me one bit Don't you love surprises? Re: [KS] The Méliés Playing Cards
DId he get permission to even use this image? Does he need permission? From what I recall, there are always issues when using someone else's name and utilizing previously created works in a deck and calling it your own...

Re: [KS] The Méliés Playing Cards
montecarlojoe - You have some good points. Lets say I want $3 per deck. So it should be ? (cost of deck) + $3 (profit) + ? (international shipping) - ? (US Shipping). I like it lets do it. I did notice in his rewards. People like 2 Decks. It might be cheaper to mail 2 decks.... 1 to save and 1 to play or maybe give to a friend. My friend is Walrus....

Not quite - Pledge would be: (cost of deck) + $3 (profit) + ? (US Shipping)sprouts1115 wrote:montecarlojoe - You have some good points. Lets say I want $3 per deck. So it should be ? Int shipping would be: ? (ACTUAL int shipping) - ? (US Shipping)
If it were me I'd make up a spreadsheet to do the grunt work - like this: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B75oK39 ... sp=sharing
(Disclaimer: All figures are totally made up!)
Re: [KS] The Méliés Playing Cards
Melies is in the Public Domain, so he should be good there.jmrock wrote:DId he get permission to even use this image? Does he need permission? From what I recall, there are always issues when using someone else's name and utilizing previously created works in a deck and calling it your own...
And I asked, and he said he's been in communication with the USPCC for a while and things are going smoothly.
Shipping expected in late November (not sure if that's shipping from USPCC or to Backers)... we shall see.
No matter where you go... there you are :|

Re: [KS] The Méliés Playing Cards
These are available for sale by one magic seller. No custom courts - just the AoS and Jokers.
The decks sell for $11.00 each. Free shipping in the U.S. Shipping is 20% of the total for international buyers.
