"Rarebit"...

And, welsh rarebit is distgustingEncarded wrote:Well that is quite an interesting name. Not very inspiring though.
Tomorrow is theory11′s sixth birthday! Back in August 2007, we launched the site and started this crazy adventure. To celebrate, we’re doing something extra special.
A month ago, we helped produce a top secret deck for a vintage, speak-easy type restaurant called The Rarebit. While this deck was supposed to be used exclusively in their lounge, we were able to acquire a small quantity for ourselves. What are we doing with this small quantity of Rarebits? We’re giving them away!
Yes, to celebrate our sixth birthday, we’re giving away Rarebit Playing Cards from now until next Friday (September 6th) while supplies last. We have only 500 decks, so we cannot guarantee that our stock will last through the entire week. Get the full scoop on this week’s episode of Exposé!
There are TWO ways you can get a free deck of Rarebits.
First, every shipped order with a subtotal of $50 or more will get a free deck of Rarebits. The deck will automatically be added to your cart BEFORE checkout. If it’s not visible in your cart and you have a subtotal of over $50, then we’re probably out of stock!
Second, we’re also putting a small quantity of Rarebits in The Archive. If you have 2,500 elite member points, you can grab one there as well. Remember, these are extremely limited and once they’re gone, they’re gone. Go get ‘em!
500, they said that themselves. Now I don't know how many the actual restaurant have.CBJ wrote:I'm sick of the words "extremely limited".. just tell us how many decks .. more BS hype

Probably 5000 - they couldn't get less and pretty sure didn't need more...JPMiddleton wrote:500, they said that themselves. Now I don't know how many the actual restaurant have.
Thanks.CBJ wrote:

I really like the tuck box but other than that the deck doesn't do a lot for me. At the moment I seem to be hemorrhaging money so I can't see jumping on this deal. E was offering their Black Ghost v1 for "free" as well. These deals work out well if you need DECKS or like certain magic but to start throwing around money just to obtain a certain deck can be ridiculous. I did get my BG v1 a year or two ago when E had it for free along with spending such and such of payola, at the time it worked out well as I was picking up magic gifts for a couple friends. I'll be curious to see how many of you take advantage of this.
Exactly. The only thing I kinda want from the T11 shop right now is the white Artisans, which I want 2 of TOPS. Other than that I would have to go for a cardistry DVD, which isn't really that interesting and doesn't seem like it's worth $30-35.Widdee wrote:If there weren't so many other good and better decks out there (Fed 52s, Emperor, etc) I'd probably bite on this, but at that price and the hoops it hardly seems worth it. Would I like to have one? Yes. But why pay steak prices for another fancy burger?
You read my mind Fingerz. I went over there and realized I hadn't picked up any of the White Artisans so I fiddled around and figured if I bought 8 decks it would come out to $50.04. (I bought heavier than that on the blacks)MagikFingerz wrote:Exactly. The only thing I kinda want from the T11 shop right now is the white Artisans, which I want 2 of TOPS. No go for me.
But, but... they're taking advantage of our obsession!BLACKWHITE wrote:Why are you guys such "Talibans" screaming "Death to Theory11"... sometimes "Death to Ellusionist"...
Yeah they are doing it for money but for sure with joy and making some pretty things

off-tangent, I hope T11 brings back the JAQK cellars at an affordable price

That's funny. I thought they sold out of the blue a long time ago. Maybe they reprinted...?Eoghann wrote:JAQK Cellars is selling the blue ones for 9 bucks on their website if you're interested. I got several from there rather than for 15 bucks off eBay.

I suppose so!Sharpie wrote:That's funny. I thought they sold out of the blue a long time ago. Maybe they reprinted...?Eoghann wrote:JAQK Cellars is selling the blue ones for 9 bucks on their website if you're interested. I got several from there rather than for 15 bucks off eBay.

I contacted JAQKs Cellars about these last year. They used to sell the first edition decks with the one way back and custom seals, not sure if they still do (they were $25 each). And yes, they did sell (and perhaps still do) the same v2s that Theory11 sold. Thought they were gone a long time ago.sinjin7 wrote:If I'm not mistaken, JAQK Cellars are selling the original JAQK blue decks with the one-way backs and crappy smooth finish. I wasn't aware they ever sold the T11 version. Either way, I have plenty of Blue and Red T11 JAQK decks, just PM me if anyone is interested and make me an offer.
As for the Rarebit deck, I find them pretty boring, and even though the courts are custom, they all look like the same animal with just minor differences. Also, because T11 say's they're rare, I know for sure they are NOT RARE. Somewhere, either at the actual restaurant or in T11's closet there are at least 5000 of these decks lurking about ready to be used as bait for gullible collectors to get them to buy more crap from T11 and for their upcoming holiday promotions. I have a feeling we'll have plenty of future opportunities to get these for free. If you don't want to spend $50 for a "free" "rare" deck, just use your Elite points (2500) to get a free deck. There are too many great decks being produced these days (Fed52, Uusi, Deco, etc...) for me to waste time and resources on mediocre decks like the Rarebit.
