I'm sure the deck will be interesting as it's an Ellusionist deck, but I really hate announcements for products where no details are given whatsoever. It's like those commercials that have random imagery and you have no idea WTF the ad is for until some woman whispers some random name. Even then you're still left all . I say enough with the hype crap, just come out and say, "Here's our deck, it's beautiful isn't it? Look, it's being held by this cute gal, she's pretty hot isn't she? Notice her hair is white like our deck and that her knees aren't too sharp. Oh, and here's the pips, here's some of the courts and a closer glimpse of the tuck case." Then and only then you can have a sultry woman whisper, "Republic No. 2, by Ellusionist."

Ok, rant off. Going to go have another drink.

They're the Cialis commercials of the card world. They leave you slightly aroused and inspired to do amazing things but wondering what the hell that was all about. Even after watching trailers for already released decks, I have to Google what the deck actually looks like before I buy it.

I mean the Sultan Republic trailer is some guy taking his pet deck for a walk around the city for Chrissakes. I don't recall him taking it out and doing fancy things with it.

Damn, loving that borderless back design. Looks really similar to Madisons Dealers. The borderless, tiny repeating design.

I've always had a soft spot in my heart for full-bleed back designs. Before the custom playing card craze hit, some of my favorite decks were Bee, Texan .'45, and Steamboats. I'm really liking the full-bleed back design on these, I agree with Utterfool, I hope these aren't marked...

The tuckbox looks extremely boring so far. I sometimes think "minimalistic" or "simple" design is what people throw out as cover for lazy, uninspired design. Whatever happened to the revolutionary custom tuck boxes E promised that would blow away T11?

Thanks for posting those pics, guys. I like the minimalism, the bleed back, the understated pips... But this is so radically different from the original two decks why tack this onto the series instead of naming it something else? Seems strange to me. That said I bought heavy on the original Sultans and Treasury decks so will probably do the same here.

Maybe I can clear up some of the confusion regarding this deck. Don't confuse this deck with the Sultan Republic or Treasury decks. Both of which are much different. Republic is the brand. Within that brand we had the Sultan decks. This isn't meant to be a "Sultan Republic" makeover. However, you will recognize a few details from the previous versions in here.

Republic 2.0 is simply #2 in the Republic series. Because Treasury was an exact replica (although it was beaten up) of the Sultan Republic deck, we didn't consider it to be a second version.

Look at this deck with an open mind, don't think of it as we we're trying to redo the Sultan deck and completely went off course.

I am really upset that these cards can not be made anymore. I would like to purchase more of them because of how cool they look. E outdid themselves with this deck.

**ELLUSIONIST RESPONSE** The Sultan Republic deck is currently being redesigned.

I don't think the new deck is bad, but it didn't meet the expectation of a new Sultan Republic deck.

I have to say, I personally love the back design - It looks like a deck that might have a broader appeal than just magic.

As Mike kindly cleared up, it's not a redesign of the Sultan Republic, but the second in the series - so it's a deck on it's on merits with no 'previous' and I think that whilst not everyone will love it, there's definitely going to be plenty that enjoy it.

Just saw the trailer. My responses were "SAWX!!!", "Wait? Where in the world are we?", "Are they selling something here?", "Girls like small pips. Got it."

I do like the back (my favorite back is the humble Club Back), but I wish they could get their flat-rate priority shipping act together. $25.48 to ship 2 bricks, when they will easily fit in a medium flat rate.
Only other option is UPS and wait a couple weeks like last order. (Then again, I can just not buy - worked with D&D....)

And when are the recognition points rewards coming out - it's only been almost a year.....
