Robin Hood Nottingham edition KWP

Unread post by Evilgamer »

Should be starting here shortly (there is an old thread but its 20 pages long about the older versions of this series/deck)

3 different sizes, little John, normal, and longbow

gilded and not, the gilded comes in a fancy external box

Image

the longbow is NOT a tarot size deck but it is ...larger..this also shows the extra box for the gilded,
(could have done without the extra cost of the extra box to be honest)

I'm very interested but when i can get about 2 bricks of cards from a few shops for the same shipping cost as 4 decks from this campaign...not sure yet. Maybe best for me to wait for them to hit the aftermarket. Nice cards though.

I pledged the Gilded set of 3. So elegant, and those outer "book" boxes sold me!

These look great. I'm in for a standard and mini deck. I actually really like the design of the Longbow edition, especially the aces and number cards, but I'm weary of getting oversized decks for storage reasons. We'll see, I may end up caving.

Jackson is completely ruining my storage methodology, the monster cages were big enough, but now we have the VHS decks, cigar boxes and this.

I feel this shipping pain everytime being based in the UK. I just face it most of the time now…

Why does Jackson have to make it so hard!

The faces of the standard size are a must have but the backs are damn ordinary
So I could go with the Longs for a better back but the header and footer of the faces does zip for me plus I much prefer the standard number cards with pips
The little ones backs are OK but the faces are nothing more than faces

Perplexed. With so many decks now (esp Jackson's) I am not sure I would be really happy with any of them
I certainly don't want the pop up gimmick with the gilded either

It's the Longbow deck which is the must get for me. Love the Aces and the nod to the Mamluk deck for the pips. Plus it's really cheap at $16 for a longer deck with foiling on both sides. All 3 only $37 with foiled tuck and cards on both sides.

I suppose it's become a positive for collectors when USPCC raised their minimum order and Carta stopped custom decks. Collectors can get more bang for their buck with the Chinese printers. Hidden Light's 4 Classical Beauties' 5 deck gilded set with acrylic case costs only $54. That's under $11 per gilded deck!

Yes, handling still can't compare with USPCC or Carta, but these aren't cardistry decks. So it's decent enough IMHO. Customer service can be better, but they should continue to improve as more people print with them.

Well KWP doesnt use Kingstar or WJPC. And if anything in WJPC's case, customer service has gotten worse as they've gotten more work by all evidence. Heck Kingstar printing went out of business (and then started a new printer under the same name).

I thought I would like the mini deck, but the art just doesn't appeal to me in that form. The Longbow deck, however, I love, especially with the Italian suit symbols.

I am guessing shipping must be really cheap for the US.
My problem is that I would have to buy 3 decks to justify the shipping and 3 would require me to LOVE them

Oh yes, I get what you mean. Interestingly, it's cheaper to ship to Australia ($17 ) vs Malaysia and most places in Asia ($20).

$8 only for US, which is when I use my US shipping consolidator.

I would like to see a ks offer heavily discounted or free ww shipping if a purchase threshold is met. Has that occurred before or is that even possible to set up?

Pretty sure it has and is possible, but with current shipping rates I would expect it to be rarer going forward.

More likely that there will be free shipping but only shipping to the EU or North America depending on the producer than to see free global shipping.

Yes i believe you are correct in that there has been 'free' shipping offered in the past. I vaguely remember twi having free or built in to cost shipping for the US. I assume other producers have tried the same approach.

In his recent Wishers KS, Rick Davidson had a top tier of 53 decks with free world wide shipping - if that single backer was anywhere other than the US or NZ, I hate to think what that offer cost Rick, especially with the NZ dollar slipping so

If the US tariffs on Chinese imports happen, which seems like a very real possibility, I wonder what that will do to our fair hobby and to producers like KWP who do much of their manufacturing with Chinese print shops. I hope KWP doesn't take a bath on this project if that trade war gets into full swing.

Far as I know they applied immediately, Im sure KWP will just increase prices by about $2 per deck. And they would have known that before this KS went up.

This very well could affect profit on anything they had on KS but haven't delivered yet though.

I wonder exactly how the extra 10% China tariffs will effect things. Is it applied to just the product or the shipping rate as well? People know how to work around taxes when marking values, so will this be treated the same? Is it as simple as a 10$ deck now being 11$ or more complicated?

Sadly, a bath will be taken on this project...

I would hope it isn't a total bath Jackson, I thought your profit margin would be a lot more than 10% or why would you bother (other than the fact that you are an artist)
