Hi everyone, just a quick update from me, after some delays mostly due to the artwork and campaign growing while we were working on it, we now have a launch date: Albatross Nautical Themed Playing Cards Kickstarter is set to launch on Tuesday January 21st 2025 at 4pm BST / 11am EST / 8am PT . Looks amazing, this is right up my alley. I'm in for all three, and getting a couple blue Imported decks while I'm at it.

The three editions seem very intentional, as opposed to just having more variants for the sake of it. The ghostly skeleton edition is very fun and gives me Pirates of the Caribbean vibes. I always like to see a worker deck, and the price on this one is very appealing.

Happy to see my fan generator being used, thank you for the Deck Collect shout-out!

On a serious note, we were prepared to give a little ground on shipping to make the campaign more appealing to our international backers, who make up the majority of our support base. We're glad you find our rates reasonable

As I mentioned in my comment months ago, I’ve always been a fan of your work. However, I don’t feel great about this project. I love pirate-themed designs, like Piracy by T11, EOTO of Stockholm, and Trial of Blackbeard by RoomOne, among others. I just feel that the other decks from you all are stronger, whether in design or the palette you’ve chosen. I may end up getting one or two, but I prefer styles like Goshawk and IMPORTED from you. I gravitate towards more vintage vibes and intricate details.

I think I know what Deep is talking about, the ships tend to dominate the card backs and reduce the pattern work which is possibly Alex's greatest strength.

I can confirm for you that the cheaper UK shipping got a pledge from me whereas likely not otherwise. I went for one of each + coin and added a few extra workers.

I can understand why fans of our strictly classic style might prefer our previous outings, and that's fine, rest assured we plan on releasing more "strictly classic" decks in the future - but we will also be doing projects like this where we let our hair down a little bit, so to speak. I still feel like this current project is very much motivated by the same classic, vintage style - just perhaps with more of a fun, bold twist to it.

You will have to become a Yr. 1 Patreon to get the Patreon only decks
but note:

Year 1 runs from June 2024 through to May 2025, the only caveat being, I may have to close paid membership to any newcomers for April/May 2025 depending on how many decks we go to print with, to avoid having less decks than members if we had a sudden influx and didn't have enough decks to cover the new people.
