Skat playing cards have 32 cards and a different format (slightly smaller and slimmer) than the usual standard 52 poker playing cards. Skat is the most popular card game in Germany and branded Skat decks are very common around here.
For this very special custom deck, each suit is represented by a specific science with the respective scientists: Hearts/Herz (Biology), Diamonds/Karo (Chemistry), Clubs/Kreuz (Mathematics) and Spades/Pik (Physics).
It was a fun chance to work in a different genre than usual and illustrate some of the greatest scientists of the past like Albert Einstein, Marie Curie or Robert Koch. Overall, this Skat playing card deck was an amazing exercise and I’m really satisfied with the end result.

Would be cool to see this as a poker deck.

The court faces look like the way they often do faces on paper money
A pity about the backs and I find the transition line on the courts annoying

KoD - my initials, no wonder I grew up a lover of playing cards

The Layout and some details are derived from German cards from Ass Altenburger "französisches Blatt" (meaning french courts), I guess proper transitions weren't a thing back then. Personally I don't like these cuts either but as someone who grew up playing with Ass Altenburger cards I can appreciate the nod.
The back could indeed be stronger but I find it's one of the best backs with a lot of writing on them.
I had to order me a deck for the comparison with the OG alone .
