Not sure if it means anything, but for me personally I decided a long time ago I don't like decks with black "fronts." It was the first KWP KS I ever passed on and it wasn't even that hard to do.

Instead Jackson seems to be continuing to reimagine his own past decks. On Youtube I see he's drawing cards for a new version of Robin Hood. That's one of my favorite decks by him, but I'm not sure I need an update.

Eric, I like the Black Diamond backs the best but like wingedpotato, I am not a fan of black fronts

Thanks for the feedback on that. Considering E's Black series also did well, it never hit me that black fronts were a turnoff for some.

Re: Slate Tally-Ho by KWP
There is just one KWP Tally-Ho deck a collection needs and we all now which one it is. He should just reprint the OG.
Btw, could we please stop calling the courts Jackson uses “KWP courts”? Unless we wanna call e.g. Bicycle courts from now on “Daniel Schneider courts” .

Re: Slate Tally-Ho by KWP
I just canceled my pledge on Kickstarter, this time there is really little clarity on the number of limited editions. Made worse by the fact that in yesterday's video it was said that they are evaluating whether to subsequently put the deck on sale on their site too.
Last but not least, the comments highlighted the creator's total absence from the campaign, in which he does not respond to comments and has not made any updates. This made me stop supporting the project.

Re: Slate Tally-Ho by KWP
I purchase a deck if I like it. I don’t care about artificial scarcity of limited runs. If I like it, I add it to my collection. I don’t care how many are printed.
If it is a print run of a million and I like the design, I purchase it.
If it’s a print run of 100 and I don’t like the design, I don’t purchase it.
Artificial scarcity is a trap that can suck the joy out of collecting.
I actually like Jackson’s decision to print a supply that matches demand. It gives more people a chance to enjoy his work.
I did notice that he has not been actively engaged with FAQs, adding updates and replying to comments. It is a short campaign of only 7 days however and this product line sells itself.

Re: Slate Tally-Ho by KWP
This isn't the best iteration of the series by Jackson, but it's good enough to make me back. I love Tally Ho's, and Jackson does a good job with his versions. Plus, at $12 for the standard deck, I think that's reasonably priced in this day and age.

Re: Slate Tally-Ho by KWP
Is the OG the first blue back TH he did or Scarlett? And can you elaborate on what you mean about KWP courts? Do you think they aren't distinct enough from standards? Just curious...Harvonsgard wrote: ↑Wed Jan 15, 2025 4:22 am There is just one KWP Tally-Ho deck a collection needs and we all now which one it is. He should just reprint the OG.

Re: Slate Tally-Ho by KWP
I'm not big of an antique collector but yah, I've seen the courts Jackson uses as his standard courts on antique decks from pics that real antique nerds posted on reddit or here before. I have Congress decks from the 80s that use very similar courts to those that Jackson uses. They are derivates from those and far from original. I have no problem with that at all but it seems like a strech for me to call them "KWP courts".
As for the Tally-Ho's, I think what fans call the "Turtleback" is the first he released. The blue ones, yes.
I'll update with pics; just a sec, I have to go through my collection...
The Blue from 2014 says "V1" at the tuck so I would think it was his first Tally-Ho. Here is a comparison between an old Congress deck and the courts Jackson uses as his standard ones.

Re: Slate Tally-Ho by KWP
My first Tally-Ho deck (The Blue Turtle Backs used my first set of "Standard" court cards I created almost 10 years ago. They are my own rendition of an American Bank Note deck (I think US 8 or 9 in the Hockman's guide) You can also check out a very old presentation I did at the 52 plus joker convention where I talk about the court set here:Harvonsgard wrote: ↑Fri Jan 17, 2025 4:50 pm I'm not big of an antique collector but yah, I've seen the courts Jackson uses as his standard courts on antique decks from pics that real antique nerds posted on reddit or here before. However, All of the rest of the Tally-Hos, Including the Slate Tally Ho deck, use a 100% unique set of court cards I created just for my premium tally ho series. The court set that is used on all of my tallies except the first one is this new set, which is 100% unique and is not derived from an older deck.

I was going to sit this one out but when I decided to pledge, campaign was over so I might get the gilded version later.

Re: Slate Tally-Ho by KWP
While they may not explicitly be part of his Tally Ho series, I feel his Americana decks are Tally Ho variants as well. I believe all his previous Tally Ho decks were tributes to family members, is the Slate Tally also tributed to one of his family?

In today's update video, Jackson announced the new Robin Hood is launching next month. I assume he's talking about a Kickstarter campaign.

Were the Luxury Tally Ho series I posted a pic of (on the previous page) tributed to family?

Re: Slate Tally-Ho by KWP
Scarlett and Olive are the names of his daughters. I think one of the others is a tribute to his mother, but I would have to check.
ETA: this is from the Olive Tally-Ho campaign.
The Olive Tally Ho is the fifth deck in the Kings Wild Luxury Tally Ho series. These decks were inspired by and dedicated to the women in my life. Scarlett Tally Ho was designed for my youngest daughter who is named Scarlett. The Emerald Tally Ho represents the birthstone of my oldest daughter Claire. The Black Diamond Tally Ho deck is dedicated to my wonderful wife, the diamond being her birthstone. The Pearl Tally Ho is for my mother, and finally, the Olive Tally Ho is dedicated to the newest addition to the Kings Wild family, Olive Graham Robinson, our newest daughter that we are expecting sometime next month.

I am pretty sure his mother's deck was Pearl. I have a couple of these and I did not think Luxury series could have been family inspired.

If that's accurate, then Jackson's grandmother must've been mother-of-Pearl!
