It might only be a problem for those of us getting old
But I catalogue my decks and this includes where I have each deck housed
Sometimes when moving a deck to a different drawer I need to change the location on my db
Sometimes the memory fails one so if the tuck has no title it can be a real buggar to find it on the db
It is surprising how many decks dont

At that point, I'd give it my own name and stick it on with a tiny post-it.

Re: Decks without a title on the tuck
Makes little difference to me as I have to go the other way - find it in the DB, get its tuck pic in mind then go searching through endless piles of decks (usually twice or thrice) to find it.
One of these days I will go on an organizing spree…

This is the way, but I avoid post-its. I cut little banderoles for my decks because I'm always worried about the adhesives eventually merging with the tuck box over the years.

It's true. Any archivist or conservationist would shudder at the thought. A sticky on cellophane I'm not too worried about, but otherwise, your method sounds ideal.atzenhofer wrote: ↑Mon Dec 30, 2024 11:12 amThis is the way, but I avoid post-its. I'd love to see a picture of it in action! Is it similar to the band on the Venexiana Gold? (the red paper band on the middle deck).

Re: Decks without a title on the tuck
It is the finding it in the db that is the problem G
if you can't remember its name
Here is an example (that probably will not apply anymore now that I have highlighted it - it should stick in my mind!)
My 'Shooters' decks were being relegated to a lower draw to make room for my 4 new (actually old) Hive decks
I think of them as 'the camera' decks (and would now put a little banderole saying that using Atz's suggestion)
The db is in alphabetical order although I do precede some titles with maker in order to make it easier eg KWP, TWI, S17
It wasn't a diabolical problem as not knowing the name I did know what drawer they were coming from so I was able to skim the drawer column in the db (I suppose I could even have done a db re-sort according to drawer)
I did the organizing almost from the get-go as I thought it would become too unwieldly down the track
It does have the disadvantage of being somewhat of a ratings system and sometimes having to relegate decks after new purchases.
I am no doubt scarred by having lost everything in the past and therefore I want to know which 2 drawers to grab if that is all the time I had

Re: Decks without a title on the tuck
Sure! It's the same concept, but by far not as fancy as those.
I just cut ~25mm wide stripes from the short side of A4 copy paper. The length of these stripes suits the majority of the decks.
Then I just wrap it around the box (or loose cards) and fixate it with a tiny piece of tape on itself.
The banderole simultaneously works perfect to keep cards together that lack their box.
Every deck then gets a number which is tied to my database, both digital and printed, containing some basic information about the deck.
Consecutive numbers are then stored either in wooden or cardboard boxes.
I switched to numbers instead of pattern/deck names on the banderole because they are often similar and I'd need to include too much information on the banderole like the manufacturer or advertsings on the back for a clear identification.
I may have strayed a bit from the topic and all this might seem a bit overkill but it makes it a very manageable collection, although im far behind and many decks still await their number
