Dilemma with Termites

Unread post by laitostarr777 »

Hey… there’s something that had been bugging me lately.

Last year, while I was moving my stuffs from the old house to the new house, I wasn’t able to move the stuffs completely, so some are still left in the old house. Few weeks later, when I am free to resume work, something awful happened… some of my stuffs got destroyed by those pesky termites… these a-holes destroyed some of my good books, and I feel really pissed off at the same time just relent about it…

Then recently, my sister in law showed me another incident: in her small cafe, in a cabinet, there is my empty box which I though it had been discarded long time - which is destroyed by termites.

While all my decks collections are safe in the new place, which is “claimed” to have been treated with anti-termites… I kinda feel scared… here in Asia, usually on warm climates, you would find these flying things just circling around lights - and this is part of the cycle of those cruel termites. Should at least a few of them survived, and it invaded the new home without I even realized it, it be disaster slowly destroying stuffs in the house.

Knowing these abomination is after anything that is wood or paper, how to make those boxes containing playing cards and/or exquisite wooden boxes containing decks are safe… Sometimes it make me hate myself on living in warmer climates: that I had to deal with this annoying pest… I somewhat starting don’t like getting any sets that involves cardboard boxes/hard woods

I keep the better part of my decks in sealed plastic storage tubs safe from flood or bug

I also add a few silica gel packets to help ward off humidity. My most valuable are also kept in individual sealed archival bags, not pretty but keeps them safe. Keep cool, dry, and clean.

Wow I didn't know termites ate things like that - I just thought they ate the house's timber frame

Glad I live in a dry climate. We still have bugs but nothing like the south east US where we moved from.

Yes, when you see those termite fly outs there is only a minute chance that a couple will find the right conditions to pair up near your house And that involves damp soil
