Doesn't USPCC have a 2500 deck minimum now? To make sure it gets funded the next go around, wouldn't it make more sense to use MPC or WJPC since they can start off with a much lower deck run, greatly lowering the minimum cost to make the project viable? Especially with it being a 1st time project and people being a bit more skeptical these days.

I've resized the designs to fit within the poker die lines from USPCC, as the original illustrations weren't within the safe printing lines for some reason.
Would that reason be that USPC have serious registration problems
It is hard to tell looking at large images but how wide a border is the card back going to have?

They do. However, I've talked to the small print team about whether they could do a low-quantity amount, and they've agreed. I contacted LPCC a bit ago but haven't had a response since. Additionally, I've lowered our amount to 1,000 decks so that the minimum cost will be significantly lower than the first campaign.

I'm also contacting EPCC as well for a quote. So, I have a few options. It's just that when this was designed, USPCC had a minimum of 1,000, so them going up was a bit of a dick punch.

I don't know. It was initially formed for USPCC's poker die, but I don't have those files. So, I've decided to do it myself.

Technically, the border is 4 pixels thick.

Changing Manufacturers

Unread post by CallOn84 »

Good news!

After speaking with EPCC, I'll move over to them for manufacturing. It's a great alternative, considering that EPCC shares the same factory floors as LPCC and that LPCC hasn't responded to my manufacturing request. Plus, they don't have the 2500 minimum order quantity that USPCC has, and the weird condition is that they can't hit the deck if I print out the deck with their small print team. 💀

Update - Where I've Been

Unread post by CallOn84 »

Hey everyone,

It's been a while since I've been active here, so I wanted to get in touch and let you know what's been happening. After finishing my studies at my university, I had a lot of work that I was doing, which unfortunately left me with little time or resources to focus on the Tragedy of Macbeth Playing Cards project.

In the past few weeks, I've finally been able to dedicate time to the project again, as I now suddenly have a lot of time on my hands. I've decided to undertake a complete redesign of the entire deck. The main reason is that I wasn't entirely satisfied with the previous design—it didn't quite capture the direction I was aiming for. Plus, this allows me to address some of the issues and feedback many of you have shared.

Today, a test illustration has just been completed, and I'd love to get your thoughts on the direction I'm heading in. Below is a test illustration that was done for the King of Clubs.

What do you think about the redesign? All feedback is valuable!

Looking forward to hearing your opinions.

A very promising graphic. We understand that it is a long process especially if advanced studies are done in parallel. Good luck, I like what you draw.

Thanks for the kind words.

There's a good amount of things I didn't like from the previous version we did, as well as processes behind the scenes that I could have done better. Hopefully, I can take all the lessons I've learnt and do better.

No effort to take the suit into account this time around for the courts?

Not a big deal on my part at all, but it seems like it *might* be a missed opportunity. Unless you've already tried it with the new design and still found it a bit too difficult to make it work aesthetically.

Hi. As talked about in my last post, this is just a test illustration to see if the illustration works stylistically and get some feedback design wise.

Unfortunately, I'm not able to do the full project at the moment due to money reasons. Hopefully, next year is where I can start with the full thing. And yes, there will be pips and suits involved and will be accounted for.

- The seeds (clovers) could be bigger and thus easier to read.
- The characters are "very interesting" however in my opinion, there is a little too much emptiness around the characters (too much white).
Best regards.

Once I start the project, this will all be accounted for. Like I said, it's just a test illustration to see how everyone is receiving the design stylistically.

I'll make sure to remember these points when design starts.
