My avatar? It's Queen of Hearts Barbie designed by Bob Mackie, so the showgirl is not far off.

I collect Barbie dolls as well as Tarot and playing cards.
Thanks to felicityk I wont rule out becoming a Barbie collector :!:
I should use my influence with the current Barbie design team* to suggest a series of dolls based on playing cards. Crossovers do very well for Mattel! :D

* A couple of them know who I am, after meeting them at the Barbie collectors' convention and other smaller events. This fact impressed at least one of my friends on Instagram.

I am wondering if you open 'a one only deck' does it cancel out the devaluation that occurs when one opens a deck - after all, there is no unopened version for a buyer to prefer

I think an unopened deck is mostly Schrödinger Deck of Cards. UNtil opened they exist in a pristine state, perfectly centered and complete in every way. Once opened the unknown is now known and possibly (gasp) have been played with!

Just my view of course.

Hmmm I can see what you mean in terms of any deck, I guess it applies to a 'one only' too - that it can be considered perfect unopened but once opened it may prove not to be. It will however always be a one only whether it is opened or not and that is probably its main attraction/value

In most aspects I think an opened 1 of 1 and sealed 1 of 1 have approximately the same value UNLESS the opened pack has some sort of deficiency and/or sign of wear.

Not the same as the OP but along similar lines - Fontaine Missing. The suit colors are not reversed but instead are all Black

I decided to try a modified Poker with a 5yo and 7yo Granddaughter today.
The only cards I could find in their house were the following
Larruping was a new one on me

I am totally guessing that larruping should be an adjective, given the sentence structure :?:

I believe it was meant to be striking, since larrup is along the lines of striking (well, more thrashing), but here we ended up with that.
I tell you what.

From a Rare Playing Cards email:
USPS is increasing its prices this year from the 15th to accommodate the extra Black Friday traffic!
As if shipping prices were not bad enough already

Is there a backstory that I don't know about that would exempt this deck from a list of The Most Crass Decks Of All Time

The most fontaine of all fontaines at that rarity level

It manages to say “yup we know” and stay entirely on brand - a limber little trick that rivals any cardistry move. Its about as Sex Pistols as it gets
Hunting Karl Gerich and Elaine Lewis
