Re: The House of the Rising Spade
I’m not sure if I’m the only one, but I actually quite like the new slim-line B9. For one, the cards seem to hold up better under use/abuse. I do hope the tuck box will get a significant enough change to differentiate it from the V1.
Will get a couple.

And what makes me discouraged of getting this new version is because: it said to be released on Stockholm17's webstore, which sadly won't ship to Indonesia - I have to have it shipped to someone before it gets to me :/

Rare Playing Cards will have half of the print run, so maybe you can order from there. The price will be the same either way.laitostarr777 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 16, 2020 2:02 am And what makes me discouraged of getting this new version is because: it said to be released on Stockholm17's webstore, which sadly won't ship to Indonesia - I have to have it shipped to someone before it gets to me :/

Re: The House of the Rising Spade
Hi all!
for those who are wondering about the differences between v1 and v2, here is the list:
Tuckbox: https://imgshare.io/image/tuck-v1-vs-v2.N8YjhO
Tuckbox inner print: https://imgshare.io/image/tuck-v1-vs-v2-inside.N8YvVQ
Ace of Spades: https://imgshare.io/image/aces.N8Yh5X
55th Card: https://imgshare.io/image/v1-vs-v2.N8YULu
As you can see it is NOT another variant of the series. It is a 2nd edition, same as the 1st one with some changes. Like a book or comic series that are reprinted.
Cheers
Lorenzo

Re: The House of the Rising Spade
Definitely an occasion to get some spares. But I will honestly miss the thickness of the original card stock very much. Last month I started to pile up decks with that stock to spare some for future generations. Original Copag 310, Green Keepers, Flaminko decks (Watermelon etc), Regalia etc. I even consider buying another brick of Parlour. If anyone has some tips for affordable decks with that stock/finish, please, let me know.
Remember Earth clearly.

Hey, you can always try the S'pore or M'sian online shops first to see how much it'll cost to get it to you. Cardvo, www.games4youuu.com or www.themagicstreet.com may carry the deck. G4U is very active on FB so you can check with them if they plan to carry the deck.laitostarr777 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 16, 2020 2:02 am And what makes me discouraged of getting this new version is because: it said to be released on Stockholm17's webstore, which sadly won't ship to Indonesia - I have to have it shipped to someone before it gets to me :/

I am not sure about rareplayingcards.com, but they will also have the decks available for sale. They might be able to ship to Indonesia. If not, I wouldn't be surprised if some are available elsewhere in Asia that resell them.

Re: The House of the Rising Spade
The Jack of Diamonds holds is head in disbelief.
The Jack of Hearts is ready to send his falcon to attack him he is so mad.
The Jack of Clubs says "Whatever, I am better and I know it."
and the Jack of Spades says "Mirror, mirror on the wall, who's the baddest Jack of all? Me of course!"
I just received my wonderful Intricuts deck showcasing the awesome Jack of Spades. Thanks Richard. My poor photo doesn't do it justice.

The only uncut I ever wanted, that's exciting! The demand for this deck must be incredible to warrant a second edition, and rightly so as it seems to be a favourite of most collectors including myself.

Stockholm17 wrote:Cartomancer v3 in collaboration with Rare Playing Cards
S17 and RarePlayingCards.com (RPC) have decided to reprint The House of the Rising Spade Cartomancer variant. This deck was my best seller and won the 2019 deck of the year award. It's also a highly sought-after deck by many.
The reprint will be almost identical to the previous variant; in fact, I'm not changing anything significant. I've had to make some adaptations because it will be printed by WJPC.
Additionally, some improvements will be made. For instance:
- The geometric graphics on top of the court cards will be in gold foil instead of white.
- The tuck box will remain mostly the same, with some minor changes, and the foil might be slightly different from the original version.
- Moreover, a 4th joker will replace the double backer.
The deck is expected to be ready for sale hopefully by the end of June and will be available exclusively at Stockholm17 and at the RPC online store as part of the deal.
Just stay tuned!

Re: The House of the Rising Spade
I'm still stinging from when I was searching for a Cartomancer uncut sheet – I even asked Lorenzo – and managed to find one that cost me an original Golden Oath as a trade … and then he released v2 about two months* later.

hes been doing several things, there was an Eoto2 "whoops" update today, the new parlour the cyclops deck.
Also maybe some of the KWP deck but I kind of get the impression that Jackson/KWP wasnt really ready to do that yet.

Re: The House of the Rising Spade
HOTRS v3 is releasing tomorrow on S17 site and I have to imagine on rareplayingcards at the same time or shortly after since its a collab between the two.
1,500 decks up for grabs so it shouldn't be a rush.
Lorenzo said in the mail to patrons he doesnt expect it to sell out quickly (but if it does expect a reprint).
WJPC is the printer, all the decks are gilded

Still the same design though? I remember seeing the design where the courts will have a name and its quad pips? Was it scratched?
The only difference I can spot is the addition of the artwork from Keymaster Tarot’s The Sun.

Regarding V3 and V2
Differences between this version and the previous one.
Printed at WJPC (Cartamundi discontinued custom decks).
4th joker added, double backer removed.
Court cards have the overlay geometry with gold foil instead of white.
All decks are gilded.

Sorry if this has been asked and answered before as I haven't been keeping a close eye on Patreon, but what is the reason for using IIII instead of IV in the roman numerals?

Fun bit of trivia… many traditional watches use IIII instead of IV for the number 4. Very few people where traditional watches anymore but this used to be something you could point out that nobody knew even though they looked at their watches everyday.Evilgamer wrote: ↑Wed Oct 16, 2024 12:35 pmsomeone asked about that on patreon

Re: The House of the Rising Spade
Selective viewing or intentional blindness. If you are not looking for it or alternatively looking for something else, then it can easily be overlooked. Same phenomena as not being able to find something right in front of your face. Many husbands experience this when looking for something in the fridge and ask their wife where it is.mulrich wrote: ↑Fri Oct 18, 2024 11:27 amFun bit of trivia… many traditional watches use IIII instead of IV for the number 4.
