We used Ai to generate some ornaments for courts character costumes.
I'm glad they are upfront about it, but this explains why it looks like elements from various different art styles were pasted together.

There is no way anybody needs all 4 of these decks - unless they are planning on using them a lot and thus wearing them out
It is really only 2 identical decks with either a silver or gold back AND each comes in 2 different colored tucks but all 4 tucks and decks are basically the same

Love the fact that you guys are still putting out quality stuff. I'm giving this one a pass (being unemployed has tightened my wallet), but I'll note as a long-time fan of the book that Big Brother is not supposed to *look* angry. He's supposed to look like a generic "he cares" kinda guy, with eyes that follow you no matter which direction you look at the image from. I've always imagined a face of benign evil; not angry and threatening, but calmly, patiently watching you... and keeping score.

Regardless, if my finances were otherwise, there's a lot to like here and these would end up in my collection.

Hey 3rd Dominion, can you speak to the use of AI in your deck design? Someone recently shared this on Reddit and the evidence seems compelling:

I don’t understand why people feel the need to lie about their use of AI. I don’t think enough people care that it would actually impact sales. So it must be a pride thing? Ashamed because on some level they also think it’s wrong? I’m just speculating

The reddit thread makes a big deal about the partial use of AI and how it was eventually labeled with “We used Ai to generate some ornaments for courts character costumes.” but my memory, and the thread above, seems to state that it was always labeled as such.

manu posted this on July 23rd, I just double checked the project launched on July 23rd as well so as GandalfPC said, it's always been there as a "Use of AI" claim, I don't think they lied or intended to deceive. They already claimed they did use AI, I don't know why the post is making such a fuss.

3rdDominion claimed they used AI, the original poster went through a whole lot of trouble just to show that they did exactly what they said.

I believe the issue raised by that post, as well as this one from a few days ago, is that despite the KS claiming AI was only used for “some ornaments for courts character costumes” it was actually used for much more of the design, including hands and faces.

That is the puzzling part for me. Why admit to using AI but lie about the extent of its use?

This is my understanding as well, that they were only partially transparent about the degree to which they relied on AI.

Well, it certainly is a tempting line to cross I guess - but those AI detector levels reported are not terribly conclusive.

On looking at them with human eyes though, certainly a few hand issues. Hands I can give a pass, should that prove the extent of it - Dare I look at the faces?….

I will let 3rd chime in before I bother looking further…

Witch hunting again? Ever figured that the creators aren't native English speakers and the extent of AI usage is simply lost in translation and not a try to deceive the customers?

I don't think it's too hard to imagine a scenario in which a person took into consideration a language barrier and still came away with the impression that there was a stronger than not probability that the AI statement was misleading.

Possible but meh. I'm no English native either - so I could be horribly wrong with my impression - but whenever I read posts of the creator, they sometimes lack even basic grammar and stuff so, I'm more than happy to give the benefit of the doubt.
Not that I have any eggs in the basket. 3rd Dominion decks never really appealed to me; just my 2 cents 🤷🏿‍♀️.

I do not believe that a human designer would mistakenly draw six fingers and four fingers instead of five. Even if they did use AI, they should have checked their work more carefully. This shows a lack of attention to detail and a disregard for the quality of their product.

That they used AI is not at issue. They did and they said so. But they also allegedly understated the extent of its use.

I 100% agree; if a work is going to be buoyed by AI, one needs to at least make sure that the resulting image makes sense.

Looking at the responses from "3rd Dominion" in the comments, I would not back a project by them in the future. These attacks on someone who is raising what are, to my eyes, legitimate concerns are not behaviour that I wish to support via my backing.

I'm Gajus from the Kickstarter comments, I thought I would drop in here as I can see that a discussion is going on. I don't think I have a lot to add to the comments I've already made on the Kickstarter campaign page but feel free to ask anything if you're curious, I'll try to answer when I have the time to do so. If Andy Kurovets, the creator of the project, still has any questions for me, I'd be happy to oblige and hopefully, we can have a civil discussion here.
