Selling on Ebay

I’m looking to put my decks on eBay for the first time but not sure how much to add to account for success fees etc since I think eBay charges a big percentage on successful sales

Anyone care to share advice?

For me the question is more along the lines of is it worth the trouble dealing with ebay selling a small number of items.Older collecting friends of mine have quit ebay because of the hassles. Just curious what others think. (apologies to ragzzz, don't mean to hijack their thread)

The trade off is this: You get a huge audience, but you might make a little less. You have peace of mind because ebay is a third party who could protect you, vs zero protection if you sell direct like through something like Instagram. Unless you're in a vetted Facebook group, you're taking a risk when selling to random people on the internet with no third party who could step in to help if things go sideways. Only you can decide if it's worth it to you. If I need to get rid of lots of decks, I always use ebay because of the audience and convenience. I don't run a shop so I'm not looking to get rich on ebay. But it's the easiest way to sell for me.

You can negotiate or as a seller you can price your items higher. Like if you want to make $100, you dont price at $100. You price higher so after the fees are taken out, your profit is $100

Yup, this is what I meant. If you have a specific price you want your item to sell for, then price it with the fees in mind. If I want to sell a deck and end up with $100 in the bank, then I'll need to price it at around $113 and hope to sell it at that price.

If I personally was to put a deck on eBay and someone knew it was me who was selling it (maybe I put a "Kevork" in the image or listing somewhere, I'd offer that deck to them directly for a reduced price. Keep in mind though, you cannot try to get someone to transact with you outside of eBay without going against eBay's policies and risk losing your account, so posting email addresses, phone numbers, social media accounts is against the rules. That direct conversation needs to have started outside of eBay.

I would sell this directly for anywhere from $200-220 if I wasn't posting it on eBay. I've also added a best offer option as I think it's fair to be flexible as a seller. I'm just trying to get my money back now that I have a duplicate (had to get the #002 to match my other ones).

Kev, what about shipping - do you have to pay to get it to ebay if you are using their shipping?

Shipping is either paid by the seller (you can offer free shipping), or by the buyer (in which case the estimate is listed on the listing). There's no "getting it to eBay" as shipments are direct from seller to buyer. You can buy a shipping label through eBay, but in the US for example, pirateship is cheaper. I've yet to use it with eBay but I just integrated it to try and use it.

Actually, you just print it out. Cost of selling is a bit higher with eBay across the board, but it is rather easy once you have everything set up.
