Thanks for the information! I was aware of the fire but not that he was affected. I always associate it with the loss of the Tough Luck decks.

There were a whole lot of decks that were lost in that rather tragic fire. For me, it was the Ambassador decks that I mostly remember. I was just glad that mine arrived before the fire. Those decks are a lot rarer than the number printed due both to the fire and Greek customs effectively killing those he had shipped over to become the silver and signature decks.

and for those who didnt get the email, hes reprinting mystery III not because it came out bad but because he found something to change to make it to be even better, and is giving the first run to backers as a redemption deck and selling it to the public (with a different tuck than the backers).

expect that and the redone white deck in September (after the printers take another month off in august)

I completely missed the cap when I naturally ordered 1+3 decks  *phew*

For anyone curious, Redemption VIII is the one I saw in person. I've seen pictures of some of the changes slated for the final version and Lotrek's detailed explanation of why he's making the changes he is. I'm fully in support of him following through with creating what matches his artistic vision and I could tell he was definitely proud of his work when he showed me. He mentioned how he's gotten pretty good at knowing how a print will turn out visually so he doesn't do expensive test prints, but when this one was completed, it didn't fully match what he was hoping for. It's not to say there is anything wrong with the deck, it's actually perfect.

He acknowledges some may have a preference for one version over the other, but both versions are peak Lotrek. I'm just happy we get to experience both.

I had to keep my mouth shut and wait for him to post this update

Technically 4! One gift, and three additional.

He does indicate in the Patreon update that the tuck will be different.

" The only measurable difference is on the tuck case: The Craft edition has a much simpler and completely different tuck box. All the other differences (and there are a lot) are purely a matter of taste.""

That's between the craft edition and the final (official version). Not the Craft edition between public and patreon.

So, wait ... Mystery III is being sold as a Redemption deck as well as itself? I'm confused and so bored of this now.

I preordered Mystery III but, again, didn't get the email. I did, however, get a Patreon message about the Year 1 rewards, but I wasn't a patron then.

Not exactly , the deck you bought is now a redemption deck and being resold next week

You will be receiving a “better” version in October or so once they are printed.

If Year 1 rewards are sent with the Redemption VIII decks, I'll be good with that.

I noticed while checking out for the three additional redemption decks, I clicked on additional details and I seen 'Red'. Maybe that's the color of the Redemption VIII/ Craft deck.

Welp, despite what I had said earlier in this thread about not ordering anything from Lotrek until he started to release some decks without issues and partly regretting having ordering a Mystery III deck, I jumped in and ordered a Redemption VIII deck anyway. Couldn't help myself.

How can the Redemption deck be 80 Euros, but Mystery III 115 Euros if they're pretty much the same deck?

Looking at the pictures of some of the deck, I was somewhat kind of right.

Don't think we can say it's pretty much the same until we see them, but aside from that, why we worried about getting a deck previously thought to be worth $115 at a $30 discount?

I would argue only a few people thought it was actually worth that price but paid because of FOMO. Looking at his advertising around it.

Thanks for putting his quote; I'm not a patron and so don't get to see his non-public posts nor get to buy the Redemption decks.

I don’t know what annoys me more: him never, ever keeping any promise, or that so many people are so forgiving and buy it all up. Don’t get me wrong, everyone is obviously free to do as they please, and there is no judgement from me, but I just feel exasperated and somewhat touchy about it all.

The whole idea of a mystery deck is that it’s a mystery, but now it seems that it is no longer that, and the original version has been sold a fair amount cheaper than those of us that pre-ordered in good faith. Yes, there are differences, but had I known this was going to happen I would have gladly paid a month's worth of patron fees and bought the Redemption version.

To be clear to get the redemption decks you have to have been there a YEAR, not a month.

This is the first redemption I haven't had to pay for. (and at that price its a good one)
