At 12pm? But... they always release their decks at 11! It's Theory11, not Theory12!
What is going on here?! This is anarchy!!!

If T11 is still giving out 11oS cards, I believe the Wheel still works for them. So don't forget to open them and try your luck.

I wish I had the patience to wait until T11 has two or more new releases I want. I can't justify the shipping price for just one deck, so I usually buy a pair. Fortunately, in the case of the licensed decks, my friend circle is full of fellow geeks and they make nice, inexpensive gifts. I already have a taker for my extra Superman deck.

Re: Obey Playing Cards by theory11
Ya shipping is expensive with T11 so I buy them from other vendors on sale and free shipping. I have not once ordered from T11 directly but have many T11 decks.felicityk wrote: ↑Wed Jul 17, 2024 9:08 amI wish I had the patience to wait until T11 has two or more new releases I want. Re: Obey Playing Cards by theory11
The question is...will these Obey decks be sold only through Theory 11 or will other deck distributors carry them? When the WB and Oscars deck were released, nobody else carried them with free shipping or coupon code option, so I just bought them from Theory 11. Otherwise, I wait for the pop culture decks to come in stock at places like Penguin Magic.

Re: Obey Playing Cards by theory11
Obey is the name (and later brand - on second thought, always his brand, since he never did graffiti in a classic sense and never used Obey as a tag) of Frank Shepard Fairey. He’s a graffiti artist that specialized in stickers, posters and stencils. Later he moved on to print and lithography and to huge ass awesome as f__k murals. He is influenced by propaganda art. His first rise to fame in the graffiti scene came with his Andre the giant campaign. His most famous work in mainstream might be the design for Obama’s Hope campaign.
And yes, I’m obviously a fan of his .

Re: Obey Playing Cards by theory11
I'd say not just in the US. Outside of the graffiti and art scene I'd say he's pretty unknown to the public. He had somewhat of a hype in Europe a couple of years ago with his clothing but I doubt that just 0.5% of those hipsters wearing Obey clothes and mostly hats back then, know anything about this artist. Like I would say maybe just 1% of US folks that were around when the Hope campaign happened know who made the design. I'd be more than happy to be completely in the wrong with my assumptions though.
No worries at all @. Always a pleasure to share some info about a great human.
Now I just need TXI to make an INTI deck and I can die happy - although they fumbled on the Basquiat deck so we'll see.
As an FYI: Obey and Inti are btw. currently part of an art exibithion in Paris. It's has no entry fee and runs until the 17th of November 2024.

Three breathtaking decks, representing three eras of OBEY. Each deck has a unique back design and packaging, printed with multiple layers of foil stamping and sculptured emboss. The three decks share common faces with vibrant, iconic OBEY art over three decades

Just a small sampling, but those appear to be really well-thought out designs to showcase the art. Maybe some folks at T11 care about more than just money.

Re: Obey Playing Cards by theory11
It’s a great deck, on the fence about the box set - had the artist developed the art for the deck from the ground up it would have been a must have, but being so well put together its pretty tempting.
And I do need a superman deck I think…
Decisions, decisions…
As I have just had to dump a load on the AC system and have a looming roof replacement, I’ll have to put off the purchase - some minor financial discipline, for this month at least…

Yup, I'll be waiting for a sale to get the Superman deck as well as the OBEY Collage deck. Haven't bought from T11 in ages.

This is easily the best deck t11 has produced in a LONG-ass time. Very nice work.

I really like these and got the box set and one additional of each. Not too bad $140 for 9 decks and the box.

Re: Obey Playing Cards by theory11
A shame that with an artist that has a huge amount of artwork available, that all three versions share the same faces. A huge dropped ball imho. Especially when you declare in your full-mouthed ad copy, that all three decks represent different eras of Obey's work. He filled three multiple hundred pages artbooks to date and you weren't able to do different faces for the different decks? - Smurf that. I'll get the box set regardless because like vasta mentioned, the best TXI decks for a long time and I didn't really expect much from TXI but it still leaves a mildly sour taste.

The Collage deck (backs) seem to best suit the courts

So, these are all the same decks of cards, just three different tuckboxes?

Theory 11 doesn't ship to me but meh, I can always order from Penguin Magic if the stock makes it there and I'm still interested.
