Just because people missed out on an older deck of his isn’t necessarily a reason for him to reprint.
And for all those people that picked one up on the aftermarket for higher prices (like me) it would be a bit of slap in the face to have the deck reprinted and sold at ‘retail’ prices.

You just described a LOT of the collectibles industry, FOMO, manufactured under the promise that something will NEVER be made again is how they sell so many the first time and how they build demand for the next product.

Re: OATH'S PATREON -details
True but it is pretty much a con
Does the actual manufacturer/designer benefit that much?
Isn't it more the secondary market that benefits from limited runs. The producer may ask double/triple but never 10 times which happens much later
Of course most decks are released in standard version in large numbers and I think of the limited editions as the icing on the cake but no doubt they often make for a better result for the designer (as all Icing does )
I wonder how many designers are in the 'collectibles' industry as opposed to the 'playing card' industry.
I suppose it is a mix
It was good to see Ian Cumpstey produce an Inglewood Hunting Deck V2 because he knew there were plenty of people that could not get there hands on a V1
I am still a collector however and I think it makes a lot more sense to make a V2 (no matter how small the variation is) than to just do a reprint

That's Lotrék in a nutshell. He's still three years - soon to be four - behind his Patreon rewards. Those are decks where he buys paper stock. With Codex his plan was to craft his own stock for it... Now you can extrapolate the delay for that! My uneducated guest, is that my great-grandchildren will see the campaign being live and my great-great-great-grandchildren will get the rewards. I know - I'm very optimistic with my guess.
You can ask Lotrék for less relible infos but when you ask him about Codex you might wanna ask about Bosch or the foiled Morésque as well, hahaha.

I contributed to his Patreon only for the first year, and not at a reward tier. I bowed out once I heard I wouldn't even get a chance to purchase the Patrons deck. I picked up Redemption VI on eBay and I'm a happy camper.
That's why I was surprised to see someone mention Codex in this thread! I'd be happy for a test print of this on "ordinary" stock, to be honest. With Codex his plan was to craft his own stock for it... Now you can extrapolate the delay for that!

Has anyone that has their White Patrons sitting in apparent limbo with DuetschePost followed up with Lotrek? Going on 3 weeks now since I received shipping notice but it still just says info received, nothing actually shipped. If it had shipped, it probably would have been here by now. I sent him an email and have not heard anything. I tried to message him through Patron but it seems like they have changed their website and I have not been able to get messaging to work. I also tried the app. I hope he did not use Deallez.

Re: OATH'S PATREON -details
I actually did get a response from him early this morning but did not notice it in the flood of morning emails I get. He stated that DP could not process 20 packages. He said they did not give a reason why and he said these 20 were handled the same way as the other packages DP did successfully send. They said they would send them back to him but he has not received them and his tracking information says the same thing as ours, only that the shipping label has been created. It seems like it is going to be a while before us 20 get them.

So I got a chance to meet the man himself today. I didn't ask him too much about all the timelines and such as there's not much beyond what we already know. He's working to package up Year 1 and will send a notification for everyone to update their addresses. Frankly, I appreciated being able to spend time with Lotrek and talk casually. I feel very grateful.

Okay, I am officially seriously jealous! That sounds like fun. Thanks for sharing and love the photo. I love the tease. Okay so Mystery III not for prime time. Yah know you could have just removed it from the photo, but no... Peeking between your fingers...looks detailed. Ah, anyway, he already has my money. My order is locked in already. I guess I just have to wait to get it in hand...like he hasn't already trained me to wait.
The prism Oath looks cool. I am not sure how I feel of a zillionth version of it, but I still have to get one...or two... or more.

Super cool, kevork, both on your end and Lotrek / Melania's. I think you're their biggest fan, makes sense that you should meet each other. Bring home any more used plates lol?

Now that you mention it, I could've moved it out but this felt easier at the time I also had to edit the photo for that little mishap.
Thank you for the kind sentiments! No used plates. I always feel hesitant when asking Lotrek for something as I feel like it might be a nuisance but he was very generous nonetheless with some gifts, one of which I can't post just yet.PiazzaDelivery wrote: ↑Mon Jul 15, 2024 10:15 pm Super cool, kevork, both on your end and Lotrek / Melania's. I don’t necessarily think it would be a slap on the face as this will be a complete new edition with a higher print run (he has more supporters now) so it will be more of a V2 . He is already making an edition for Oath Standard , also Icons decks were made in the Redemption series . Maybe an Golden Oath with Pink Stock would be really cool lol . I wish Lotrek does one Pink Deck sometime hehe

I thought you meant make more of the same Golden Oath in which case that would be a slap in the face IMO!
Im all for different coloured stocks, some of my favourite decks are the Dynastinae and Prism versions of the Tale of the Tempest!
I don’t play with the decks so I’m happy for them to be all colours of stock and covered in hot foil of all colours if it means they look amazing.
I couldn’t care any less if they handled well of not

Very cool Kevork ! I wish to meet Lotrek one day , seems like a great guy . I love his calmness . Since you saw the Mystery III , would you say that we can expect it to surpass all the previous Mystery Decks ? Also did you get any special item from your visit? Apart Mystery III and Oath Standard Blue Prism did he show or told about any other deck (if you are comfortable sharing) .

I received an Oath Standard Blue Prism, a patrons uncut tuck, and something else I'll post when the time comes (the one I'm most grateful for). I do want to clarify that I did not meet him with the intention of asking for or receiving anything.
I was informed of the name of the Mystery III deck along with some additional information on things I didn't see yet (tuck details, etc.)
No other news of other decks but he seemed really firm on Codex being slated for later this year. He's intent on prioritizing the Patreon rewards as much as he can.
Most creators don't have access to the plates which are often destroyed. A primary issue is the shipping as they can weigh a lot. As far as I know, there are no Lotrek plates out there aside from Silk and Venexiana Gold. While I'd love to own one, I understand the nuisance of having them shipped out from Greece.
We'll probably see a Damask variant before a Golden Oath variant.

I'm aware who owns the Venexiana Gold plate and the Silk Blue prototype deck, but no clue where those other plates now reside. Looks like right underneath that Charmers plate is the Damask plate for the foiling on the front borders.

Frankly, it tripped me up too when he told me, as I hadn't really thought about its official name up until that point. I wasn't around for the previous two, so the phenomenon is new to me. I still think of it as "Mystery 3."
As an aside, crazy how scans do a horrible job with picking up foil. This does however show the intricate linework that Lotrek can still maintain through his technical ability with hot foil application. I asked him why he went for this foil as he had expressed some discontent towards holo foiling in the past, but he said this blue prismatic one really stood out to him and he really liked it. It looks great in person. The cards will be foiled on the backs, along with the ace of spades foiled on both sides, on black stock.

To Lotrék’s defense, there is downtime (like printing and waiting for delivery) in all projects, that of course can be used for e.g. other projects design stages or a nice patreon post, that shows me the three deck designs, for the decks that my great-great-grandchildren might get - for my patreonage over three years - once they hacked my patreon account, to put in their shipping address after I’m gone.

Re: OATH'S PATREON -details
Interesting thing about Lotrek, is that designing the cards is not the issue for Lotrek. Unlike many who do claim that their deck is years in the making.
Look up his Chronos deck thread and on FB (he shares his design process in detail there) He managed to design and get it done in 25 days. I can't recall where I read it, but Chronos was started during his downtime waiting for another deck to be printed.
Another good example is the Tempest playing cards. You can check the updates on Kickstarter to see just how long it took for him to get the Dynastinae decks printed. The designs were all done, just the printing. It's the decks which require delicate printing process and cardstock availability that always delays things, which is out of his control (mostly, if he doesn't spot tiny mistakes).
That and the fact that fate seems to have it out for him. The sheer amount of bad luck like Greek customs witholding and taxing Lotrek for his own decks, forest fires in Greece, Legends warehouse burning down etc. Yes, he's trained Lotrek collectors very well in the art of waiting for a Lotrek deck.

If I remeber correctly after printing Venexiana Gold with Legends, Legends had a warehouse fire that destroyed some stock of his decks.

There was a fire at the LPCC warehouse in which the stock of Ambassadors Players decks that were slated for post-KS release were destroyed. The links in the KS update unfortunately no longer work, but here's the reference: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/36 ... ts/2223239
