I agree with this.DukeBoy wrote:Well My 2 Cents is that 1) if your back and front boarders ar not going to match then you might as well make the backs blead of the edge(which I know might be difficult for USPS to cut correctlly but the black boarder just looks out of place, & 2) the logo should be brought little more in from the edge replace the club under it with the logo.nbrock wrote:Well, after looking at different routes for the backs...I think this is the final. There are plenty of other versions but I want balance in the design and it's very difficult to achieve that with this pattern! However, this one is looking v promising! What do you guys think?

Thanks for the response! I've just tweaked them as suggested. Yes, the borders will be uniform throughout the deck, on both front and back. (see left visual)
The version to the right shows the logo placed over the club... I kind of don't think it works as well. It feels a bit lost.

I think the right one has more symmetry, so my vote goes to the right.

+1 like the right more myself.MagikFingerz wrote:I think the right one has more symmetry, so my vote goes to the right.
Casino decks have the log further in an the one on the right now looks more like this now if you could just get the boarder to be like this one
10-4 over and out

I like either one of those. Are we going to get a gaff card in the deck that says "the quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog"?

There maybe something along them lines coming out for the gaffs ...

Do you really need $12,000 just to upgrade the tuck with 3 different foil colours and better stock?

Shame that this deck is so expensive. Ah well, maybe I'll find it aftermarket for a decent price.
Something else to be concerned about is that he has only made a few update posts (4) and only a few comments to the point where backers were wondering where he was. Just some warning signs.

Re: The Type Deck - Typography Playing Cards printed by USPC
I agree it is quite pricey compared to other fully custom decks. But I'll take my chances now than wait for it to hit EBay or whatever, where people like to charge double the price.
I know the creator must be very busy with this project, but I'd like an update on what the tuck case will look like if 200% pledge isn't reached. I assume it would be the standard Bicycle glossy cardboard case?

Yeah, I'm a little concerned that his communication has dropped way off. I considered dropping my pledge down to one deck or even canceling. But I like this deck enough that I think I'm going to chance at least the 2 deck tier. Fingers crossed!

Re: The Type Deck - Typography Playing Cards printed by USPC
I'm starting to reconsider my pledge. There are user questions that have been left unanswered for over a week now. Important questions that can help someone make an informed decision and maybe bump up the pledges. But so far they've been ignored.
Another thing I mentioned to him is that at 15 bucks a deck, I kind of want a higher quality product. I don't know if it would be possible to cut down on how many will be printed without affecting the pledges and allocate that money into printing the higher end tuck case. I feel this deck deserves nothing less than that.
But at this point I would settle for a reply with the current specs and designs for the deck.

Felt the exact same way, was going to cancel, but in it for at least one deck + international shipping.

I really hope I'm wrong, but I'm going to be VERY surprised if this comes to fruition without any issues. I do like the deck, but I will not have any problems waiting until after market.

Why don't you guys play it safe instead of sweating it? It's not like the deck won't be easily available once it is created...I have stopped pledging to all new card makers until they have proven themselves at least once or twice. In the long run it will save you a lot of worrying
Re: The Type Deck - Typography Playing Cards printed by USPC
I have to say, I really don't understand what everyone is complaining about. While I have not read all the comments, he posted an update yesterday and responded to a comment the day before. And that is not being responsive? Based on what? Have you guys looked at other project? This is exactly what I don't understand, you back a project when you have concerns and then complain about it. Simple, if you have concerns then DON'T back it to begin with!!! Doing it the way you guys are doing it makes no sense and is exactly why people get defrauded through Kickstarter. They become so worried about missing out on something, that they back anything and everything.
Thanks!

He didn't respond to any comments between July 7 and July 21. Apparently he also didn't respond to private messages or on FB either. That is the concern, as we have seen at several projects not complete and I would say this kind of lack of communicate is a typical warning sign (although it usually happens after, during the production process).BMPokerworld wrote:I have to say, I really don't understand what everyone is complaining about. Strag,
I understand that, but then don't back the project, right? That is your warning sign. So if you decide to back it when he hasn't answered all your concerns, then you shouldn't come here and bitch about him not responding. Simple, pull your pledge. Both DragonSoul & Eoghann are complaining about his lack of responses, but it doesn't appear they have pulled their pledges. That makes no sense to me. If I have concerns about a potential deal, I simply do not do it.
Thanks!

Ah Mike, you must have misunderstood me. I didn't back it from the beginning (at first because of price and also because of the lack of response). Was just more of a statement of opinion about the project in general. If I had backed it, it'd be far too early for me to start my (usual) bitching about lateness of the project.BMPokerworld wrote:Strag wrote:He didn't respond to any comments between July 7 and July 21. Re: The Type Deck - Typography Playing Cards printed by USPC
Yeah I know that's completely counterintuitive. I was well aware my pledge had 55/45 chance of turning into a decent deck or a dud. But the boy seems legitimate enough (though amateur and unprofessional towards the end) to gamble my pledge. I dropped my multiple deck pledge to a single one though, I'm not THAT "adventurous".
Crazy, I know.

Re: The Type Deck - Typography Playing Cards printed by USPC
Hey, I wasn't complaining. Like I've said in some other threads, I'm new at this and I'm just trying to figure out how to assess the risk on each project. Yeah, I know several of you have gotten burned and are no longer willing to back anybody on Kickstarter. It may be that I will get burned on this one, but I can tell you I have already passed several others by because they caused me more concern than this one. I come here for guidance and opinions from more experienced collectors. But, I won't clutter up your forum with complaints if this one falls through because it was my decision to back it. It's unique enough that I wanted to see it succeed.

Welp, looks like another project to add to the list of "troubled, likely headed for worse."

Yep It sure does looks like it and he is starting to catch some flak for it. I love this quote from George N in the comment section "Apparently the dirty napkin on which this project was "thoroughly planned" was lost..."

This thing bugs the livin' daylights outta me. I get it when people have personal problems and, well, blah blah blah.
But this guy came right out and admitted that the real problem is that he got a real job ... and now he doesn't have time for this project! Worse, the way he got his intro for the real job was through his Kickstarter project!
This guy went into silent mode on the first day of the project and seems to take *pride* in doing his work without talking to his customers/employers/backers. Gotta wonder how that's working for him in his new job.
I'm guessing this project *will* finish. If he keeps his real job, I'm betting on a 2016 delivery year.
I'll bet someone here gets a well-deserved told-you-so
Yeesh.

It's examples like this that made us want to get HOPC established on Kickstarter with the Imperial Deck!GBAllison wrote:This thing bugs the livin' daylights outta me. I get it when people have personal problems and, well, blah blah blah.

Now that the Deck will be finished up next week (knock on wood) I have no worries about getting the Decks and Add-On items out to our Backers. My part is pretty much done, and it's freed me up to concentrate on what's next without worrying about the Imperial finishing in a successful way.
Thanks, Randy

I am sorry, but whether he actually got a job or not is not acceptable to me. Why is it that life never gets in the way BEFORE their deck gets funded? Life only gets in the way AFTER they get the money. The whole thing is BS. I am sure there are people out there who will always give them the benefit of the doubt, but it is time to wake up and realize that is the problem. This campaign should take about 32 hours for the decks to ship after he received them. But once again, that hasn't happened and why not? Because the artwork isn't finished. When will every learn not to back a project until the artwork is done? Sorry there is no excuse for the artwork not being done BEFORE the campaign is launched. You can always make adjustments while the campaign is going on. Well seeing the the project was funded in July and he didn't have a job, he probably used the money for his personal bills.
In case anyone hasn't noticed, the projects are defaulting even before the decks are produced, which means they aren't even making an attempt to hide the fraud they are committing.
Thanks!

Re: The Type Deck - Typography Playing Cards printed by USPC
Two years and hundreds of decks later, this and Alice of Wonderland are the only card projects in my "probably never going to see them" category. This one doesn't anger me like Alice of Wonderland, though. I backed it knowing that there was cause for concern but, held a tiny hope that he would get his act together and deliver some day.
Alice, on the other hand, is the only Kickstarter I've backed where the creator changed to a poorer quality printing company AFTER the campaign ended. That was a scam move and I wish I had asked for a refund immediately. But what really pisses me off is that they were actually printed and are selling on ebay without delivering to the backers.
Perhaps this one will finally come through (I did recently receive a non-card KS 2 years late) but, I won't believe it until I actually hold them in my hands.
