I guess if you're talking stupid money you could also look out for habidasher's or apothecary chests / displays... would need a bigger house though

You could always start a kickstarter campaignjriffel wrote:Barrister Cabinets are the way to go. Nice glass doors show off the collection just perfectly. And if you are overly anal, you could provide environmental controls for long term preservation (assuming you are not going to sell off the decks in the near-future). NOw if I were stupid wealthy, I would line my study with this setup. Would anybody like to donate so that I can realize my dream? I figure that I only need about $2.5 million.

Yes, something with some history, and I would never want to move house again.montecarlojoe wrote:Ah - now you're talking!

Yes, that was what I was getting at. I believe you can also purchase sheets of UV-filtering film which can be applied to any glass.jriffel wrote:Library glass has a tint applied to the inside to reduce damaging UV rays from incoming light. That and not letting copious amounts of light in in the first place help reduce long term damage.

Because I was not sure where else to create it.th4mo wrote:This is a useful topic and all, and i don't mean any offense... but why is this topic under "New & Custom Decks"???
True, i don't see an area that is an exact match for this topic. I'd say "Knowledge Base", perhaps, but that's locked. The other alternative would be "General" which basically is totally random.RSLancastr wrote:Because I was not sure where else to create it.th4mo wrote:This is a useful topic and all, and i don't mean any offense... but why is this topic under "New & Custom Decks"???
Suggestions?
No need to shut up, it was a perfectly legitimate question.th4mo wrote:RSLancastr wrote:th4mo wrote:But since this topic has been going for over 6 months without any other complaints, i guess i'll shut up now...
Thanks! I was considering some varnish but ill probably leave the "weathered" look.RSLancastr wrote:Very nice, Eoghann!
By the way, how is your user name pronounced?

Yo-ehn. It's pronounced similar to Owen. But a lot of friends pronounce it "eh-oh-ghan" or "ee-og" for short coz they can't get around all the silent letters.
I figured it was part of the John family of names. (John/Juan/Johann/Ian...etc.Eoghann wrote:Yo-ehn. It's pronounced similar to Owen. But a lot of friends pronounce it "eh-oh-ghan" or "ee-og" for short coz they can't get around all the silent letters.
I'm not exactly sure what you mean by that. Would you care to elaborate please? Like the felt staining the tucks? So far I've been very careful and made sure that most of my decks maintain their plastic sleeves. I also made sure the straps aren't tight enough to flatten the decks from the sides. Don't know if I'm missing an important step in caring for my decks.RSLancastr wrote:Did you take precautions so that the lining and the straps will not "bleed" onto the boxes over time?
